Chapter 95 Chapter 95
Selena
Korea was beautiful. The people, roads, trees, buildings, and most especially the person besides me. Theodore.
“Wow… A wishing fountain. ” I yelled, breaking our hands to run to the water fountain in front of us.
“This is beautiful. I never thought I would see one so easily.” My hands went deep inside the water.
I have seen people on TV, throwing a coin and praying for love, family, and riches. I reached for my bag to get some coins.
“Oh.” I stopped. I didn't have a coin with me. “I can't believe I’m going to miss this,” I murmured to myself, my brows drawing. I should have made an effort to change some cash into coins. That’s the main ticket.
“Here.”
I looked up, and in Theo’s stretched hands were coins. My eyes widened.
“When did you get these? I forgot to get some,” I exclaimed, looking at him, a sense of gratitude surging through me.
“I did my research. You need to get the best experience.” He said it so cool. Like it was something normal for him to do.
Theo was attentive, too attentive to everything I do.
Too sweet that I was scared of my stomach aching. Everything he did was surprising, and maybe that’s why guilt was starting to eat me up.
Just last night, I still updated her on what was going on with him.
I smiled, hoping it had reached my eyes as I collected all the coins from his palm. I turned to the fountain, joining my hands together.
Yes. Even though he was a bad person, he has been nothing but nice to me. He even brought me here because I wanted this.
Who would do it for me? I should be lucky he was into me.
I inhaled and took a deep breath, then closed my eyes to pray.
Let Joshua be safe and keep him from all evil.
I opened my eyes to throw the coin, but stopped.
A sigh of helplessness escaped from me, before I closed my eyes again.
Please keep Theodore safe.
I opened my eyes and threw the coins into the water.
The more I got closer to Theodore, the more I found the lady creepy and unsettling. Why was she so into his matter?
“What did you pray for?”
Theo’s deep voice reached my ears and his hands wrapped around me from behind.
His head dipped to my neck, his breath fanning my chin.
“For my brother's safety.” I didn't hesitate to say.
I stared at his hand on my stomach and placed mine on it. A smile spread on my face. He was warm, so warm, and those feelings were back, crawling to me again, the feeling of being protected.
“And?”
I felt him lift his head to look at me, and I looked down at my neck.
“And….?” I repeated, confused at his question.
“You didn't pray for me?”
It was those eyes again.
I started noticing how Theo’s eyes had softened, turning tender when he spoke to me, especially when asking me to do something.
That doesn't mean he didn't get all demanding, bossy, and serious at times. But this look was one I'd give in to.
“I did, I asked for you to be protected.” I turned back to look at the fountain, then I felt his throat move, like he swallowed.
“What?” I looked back at him.
That look was gone.
“Nothing.”His lips grew into a smile. And I was thunderstruck.
“You should pray too.” I licked my no-dry lips, before beaming into a small smile.
He looked at me, confused.
With my hands, I pulled apart his hands gently, then turned to him. “You should also pray for something.” I placed two coins in his palm. He looked at the fountain, then back to me. I nodded.
He didn't have to.
He wasn't going to.
From his stance and his look at the fountain, something tells me he found it ridiculous, but he had given me the coins to do it.
I sighed.
“Uhm….You don't have to do it…” I reached for the coins in his palm, but he closed them tight. I raised my brows.
“What?” I asked.
“I’ll do it.”
I let my lips curl into a smile as he passed me to stand in front of the fountain, His hands closed together. I watched his back.
Has he ever done something like this before? Theodore doesn't share excitement for little things like this.
He may be cruel or whatever, but he was once a child.
Even though I had gotten my childhood robbed from me, little things like this still excite me. But for Theodore, it seems to—.
“Miss.”
I turned sharply at the voice behind me.
A little blonde boy stood, his eyes blue and beautiful as he stared at me.
“Hi,” I greeted back with a smile, then leaned my back to match his height.
“My mom is over there,” I said, looking behind him, but found no one. Instead, a supermarket stood in the space. Maybe she was inside.
“Oh,” I replied.
“Can I stay with you till she comes?” He batted his eyes, and I couldn't help, but break into giggles at his innocent act.
Who told him about such works? Kids.
“So, mm…” I moved to turn back, and my head slammed on a hard surface.
“Ohh,” Looking up, it was Theo’s leg.
I straightened up, only to see his face harden, shooting daggers, and the source seemed to be the little boy behind me.
What was wrong with him?
“Hm, his mom should be out soon, he wants to stay with us. Do you think that’s fine?” I asked, but Theodore’s eyes didn't stop glaring at the kid.
I took a step closer to Theodore, my body closer to him. “He is just a kid now. His mom will be back soon, I’m sure he poses no harm.” I bit my lips, as I looked at him.
“He could wait at the corner,” He finally spoke, his gaze to me. It doesn't soften.
Why does it give the impression that he didn't want the kid around us?
I turned back to look at the little kid, and of course, he looked sad. I turned back to Theodore.
“Let me stay with him for fifteen minutes. If his mother doesn't come out by then, we'll leave..Please.”I batted my eyelashes, then reached for his hand.
Theodore seemed to still for a second, then, “Fine. Just fifteen minutes, then we’ll leave.” He completed, his gaze still hard as he looked behind me.
