Chapter 94 Chapter 94
JOSHUA
“What the hell are you doing?!” I snapped, glaring hard at their thick stupid skull.
Sighting me, Adalia hid her head and I wondered why. Either way, it was caused by these girls.
“What are you? Her boyfriend?!” The redhead yelled and my brows furrowed at her sharp voice.
“Tone it down,” I said coldly, my eyes squaring over all of them. “Aren't you all too big for these? You should be getting a job if you want to afford designer bags.” I said as my eyes stopped at the bag on the floor.
From the looks of it, it should be the one Adalia brought. Her head was still on the floor. It would have been better if she had raised her head and spoken confidently to them as she had always done with me.
I walked closer to the bag at the foot of one of the girls who seemed to be the leader. She stepped back as I picked the bag.
“What..what are you doing?”
I opened my mouth to speak, but then my phone vibrated.
It was the driver. I opened the message. “Fuck you.”
Figured.
Anyone would have said that, I pretty much wasted his time.
I can't believe I have to do this instead of going on today’s mission. This is why I wanted to avoid Adalia. She comes with trouble.
I gave the driver a thumbs-up, switched the phone to video mode, and pointed it at the girls.
“What are you doing?!” One yelled, and they all rushed to cover their faces.
“It doesn't matter if you cover your face. With this video, I can always dig up your identity.” Done with the video, I kept my phone inside my pocket.
“You are lucky you aren't guys. Since you are girls, leave before I actually hit you.” I spoke, my voice stone cold as I looked at them.
The earlier I finish with this, the better.
“Who do you think you are?” One scoffed but my eyes were only on Adalia.
I inhaled. Why is she still keeping her head on the floor?
“You are starting to piss me off, leave now.” With a glare, they hissed and started walking out now.
But I wasn't done.
“And you…”
I said to them as they were about to leave.
“I’ll give you an answer to your earlier question. Yes, I’m her boyfriend, and the next time I hear of this, prepare yourself to be beaten. Screw being a female, you don’t even act like one.”
“What’s wrong with him?”
“Psycho.” Another commented.
I don’t know who said that before the room turned empty.
I sighed. Now back to the damsel on the floor.
“Are you going to keep looking down? They are gone.”
It seemed there was more to her looking down. I bent down dropping the bag beside her.
Fuck, I was late.
I should be able to leave now that they are gone. I nodded to myself, turning to leave.
“From now on, I hope you get the fuck away from my life. I dont want to see you.”
I stopped.
What was it again?
I turned back to her, and my heart skipped. Her eyes stared at me, tearing up.
Why does she look so tired and sleep-deprived? It felt like seeing a different person. My brows tightened.
“That’s what you said to me. But your actions now seem to be quite opposite, why did you help me?”
Oh, now I get where this was going. I rolled my eyes. She was really crazy. Usually, people had been thankful, but she just had to question me.
“I didn’t help you,” I answered, and her eyes widened.
“I’ll do it for anyone in need of help, not just you. So, get it out of your head.” I turned towards the door.
“And….” I raised my fingers and turned back to her. “I still want you to get the fuck away from me.”
Her eyes glimmered with tears and I swallowed. She was hurting, and I don’t know why there was an ache in my heart.
“You are so cruel,” She muttered. Those fucking eyes digging into my soul. I swallowed, turning to leave this time.
“If you are going to keep acting bold everywhere, then you should have strength up your sleeves, don’t you think?” I finished and started to move till…
“Ouch,” She cried out, and I turned back frightened.
“It hurt.” She seemed to grit her teeth as she held her leg, the other on the floor.
“What’s it now?” I asked, my feet fighting everything not to walk towards her.
“You can leave. How embarrassing.” She murmured the last part, looking at her ankle.
She must have sprained it from being pushed. Those stupid girls.
“My day always ends up bad because of you. .” I whispered, but it was loud enough for her to hear.
“That’s why you should leave. I didn’t ask for your help.” She moved to stand again, the bag in her hand, only to fall back, and I rushed to her, helping her.
“What are you doing? I don’t need your help.” She tried moving, but I held her thigh and her gaze met mine.
“Don’t delay me any further, Adalai, I have somewhere I should be now.” I glared coldly, and her gaze wavered.
Fuck, why were her eyes still wet from tears..
“I didn’t ask for you to help me, you should stick to your “don’t ever look at me.” policy. I’ll take care of myself.” She dragged herself away from my arms.
God. This was fucking annoying.
“No hard feelings here, Adalia. I can leave you here now, but I should finish the job. If something happens to you now, like them coming back to storm on you, I'll be held responsible. So, compile. I won’t say it again.”
I should forget about going out. It was better to go home, before Halley comes here.
I bent down to her and wrapped my hands around her legs. She was light, very light.
“What are you doing?!” She struggled, trying to get down, but I held her. It’s not like she can free herself anyway.
She must have realised this because she stopped moving. And when we stepped out of the building, she still didn't say anything. Even when I placed her on a bench. She only muttered a thank you, as she avoided my eyes.
Just then Halley’s car stopped in front of us. Halley didn't say anything as she took in the scene in front of her.
But Adalia not saying anything was unsettling.
