Chapter 213 Chapter 213
Chapter 213 Chapter 213
Selena
Minutes before the call.
“You don't look so excited for someone going shopping. Mind telling what the issue is?” Halley turned towards me as I rested my head on her shoulder.
The car had been quiet since we entered from home.
Leaving Theo still wasn't sitting with me.
I wanted nothing more than to go back and stay at home with him. What if he doesn't listen to me and actually leaves the house?
I sighed.
“Are you going to keep sighing?” Halley adjusted herself and pulled my head gently to face her.
“ What happened to you? You look pale. Did Theo do something wrong?”
I shook my head with another sigh..defeated. “I think I’m just being paranoid after that dream and my ..my heart can't stop beating heavily like..”
“Hey hey, take a deep breath.” She moved her hand down as if to ask me to follow, and I did. Taking a deep breath, pushing down the heavy weight on my chest, I finally felt relieved.
“Now tell me what happened. Why you look like the whole world is ending in the next seconds..”
I pouted. “Don't say that. Don't jinx it. What if something really happens?” I closed my eyes at how ridiculous my words sounded. I needed to chill down..
“You know I didn't mean it that way.” She moved closer to me. “Now tell me what happened? You really don't look good.”
I licked my lips..”I had a dream and—”
A loud sound exploded from behind us and I was flung forward, my head almost hitting the front seat.
“What’s happening?” The guards at the front questioned in alert. We all looked back but only gasps escaped our mouths at the sight.
Blood flowed down and looking up, a body was on the back glass.
More sounds of gunfire exploded.
“Oh my God, what is happening?” Halley and I screamed at the same time as multiple gunshots filled the atmosphere.
“We are under attack, Madam.” One of the men turned towards us and my heart skipped.
“Our men from the other car seem to have been taken down, so please stay here.” The blonde guard said and turned to the one driving.
“I’ll get down to distract them. Look for how to drive away from here. Nothing must go wrong.” He said, his tone in warning..
“But wait…” I started to say but he was already out, joining in the gunshot spiral.
I gripped hold of Halley's hand as she moved closer to me.
“We are going to be fine..” My heart was beating fast. Too fast. Painfully fast as I watched the driver try to drive past in all his effort.
“Get down!” He suddenly yelled and I pulled Halley down and just then glasses broke behind us, forcing our car to stop suddenly.
“Oh God…Oh God…” Halley cried out and my eyes widened as I turned to her.
“What’s wrong? Did you get hurt?” I asked in a rush, and it was then I noticed what she was looking at.
The driver….
The reason why the car stopped wasn't that it hit something, It was because the driver had been shot by the bullet, and blood oozed out of his head, pooling on the chair.
I gagged and my stomach twisted as nausea washed over me. I clamped my hand over my mouth and just then, the sounds of gunshots stopped, and on Halley's face was a look of dread.
“Come out Miss Selena.” An unfamiliar voice said from outside..
It was over.
Theo
I have searched everywhere for Selena.
The guard named Jeremiah has recalled the plate number of the car that left with Selena, but the car was found abandoned in a place with cameras.
All my teams and even the police force were out searching every part of the country.
No one was allowed to leave the country. I made sure of it yet nothing.
There was nothing.
Selena should be here.
I have done everything for her to be here with me. But there was just no news and now it was past twelve at night.
“Mr Theodore, I understand the importance of you watching over the cameras yourself, but you have been in this exact position for hours. Why don't you use our private room upstairs? If there is any news, I’ll call you immediately.”
I was at the FBI headquarters, in front of the cameras watching over the country.
My eyes were burning from watching for hours but how dare I leave here?
I closed my eyes, and then opened them again. Watching everyone who had their eyes on the same screen.
“If you don't rest up, you might even fail to see a solution. Why don't you go inside for a few minutes?" He said again, and I sighed before looking at him.
I couldn't trust anyone. There could be many people out to get me, and there could be many people watching over my every step. That was the only way they knew to get Selena from me.
What do they want? Why weren't they saying anything?
What state was Selena in?
She must be terrified being in an unfamiliar place.
I'd do whatever they wanted, anything, everything. I would give to them.
“Please listen to m—”
I glared at the disturbance by my side. “I’ll go inside then,” I said in annoyance.
I turned and walked out.
He was saying something, but I couldn't hear him. I stepped out of the building and dialled Ethan’s number..
“What’s being said?” I asked.
He informed me hours ago that Hannah was missing.
But Hannah was completely helpless now. No one would help her. I made sure she wouldn't have anything to fall back on.
I had let her off that day because of Ethan, but then I stripped her of everything.
“I know what you are thinking that she might be linked to Selena’s disappearance..But that isn't possible. Hannah now is just a wingless bird, she can't do anything.”
I gritted my teeth at his words. “Better pray so..I hope she is indeed wingless.”
I ended the call, fury building in my veins. I looked at the distance, at the trees.
Where were you, Selena?
I shouldn't have allowed her out. I should have held to her fear and kept her back. It turned out what she was terrified of was about her.
My phone rang again and my brows furrowed at the name on the screen..
Hannah..
I clenched the phone and picked up the call.
“You must have been expecting this call for a long time…”
It wasn't Hannah….it was…
“Noah..”
“Gotcha..I thought you wouldn't recognize my voice… But then you should, after all you took something so important from me.”
I gripped the phone tightly.
Why was he with Hannah’s phone..
“Should I have used Selena’s phone? Maybe your reaction would have been better.”
