Chapter 206 Chapter 206
Selena
“I still haven't been able to find father. The woman who shares his building said she can't remember the last time he was there. She even gave the house for rent. Greedy.” Josh threw a grape in his mouth, munching with an extravagant expression.
I smiled at his face. It was nice seeing him tell me about everything he was doing.
Though Josh told me he was no longer working for the organisation, I had a feeling it was a lie. He must have said that so I wouldn't worry.
Speaking of father, Josh said something was strange. The last place he was able to detect father was after he wandered into a blind spot, and from the next place where cameras were, father wasn't shown.
Though it was strange, I didn't care. Why should I care about someone who has never thought for us?
But Josh was different. Right from the beginning he has always cared about our parents and that was the reason why father was able to fool him numerous times and take from him. And I won't be surprised if he has been looking for mother.
“Just let him be. He probably hit the lottery and decided to stay far. What other reason would he leave us for? Father is that selfish.” I threw a piece of grape inside my mouth too, but sighed. I really needed real food.
Not porridge, not fruits, but real food. I’ve been trying to tell Rayan but he won't listen to me. It was the freaking next day of me waking up.
There was one more person who could keep up with my demand.
I looked down at my stomach. Theo’s hands wrapped around me, and guess what? He was asleep….Since last night, and I didn't have the heart to wake him.
Another person that would have helped me is Halley but Ivan came to pick her up last night.
I sighed. I was helpless.
“How long is he going to sleep? It’s afternoon already.” Josh glared at Theo’s hands.
It was progress. I mean Josh learning to tolerate Theo was progress and I know Theo wasn't as hateful to Josh as before.
“Let him sleep.” Rayan entered the room with a huge smile. “Good morning, Selena.”
“It’s the afternoon you dumbass. And this isn't your first time coming here, so why would you be greeting?”
I closed my eyes knowing what was coming next.
“There is freedom to do whatever you want and I am exercising that freedom.” Rayan stretched his hands apart and Josh rolled his eyes.
“So childish,” Josh said, forcing his attention on the grape again.
Rayan walked towards me and stretched to take a look at Theo who was behind me. He smiled.
“I think this is the longest I have seen boss sleep. He looked so peaceful unlike the one who is ready to fire someone.” Rayan shook his head.
“Who knew boss had this side of him? I must be blessed to have witnessed this day” As always, Rayan was dramatic, but it felt good hearing him say that.
I placed my hands on Theo’s hands and rubbed them gently. I didn't want to wake him.
Rayan moved to the cupboard which was placed on the side. He picked the document which was my medical report.
“When can I get good food? I’m really tired of what you have been feeding me.” I said, hoping he would let me be now..
“Hmmm.” He dragged and I rolled my eyes.
“I really wondered if he knows what he was doing. Who even allowed him in charge of all this? As if the case of the blind leading a blind isn't enough.” Josh gritted his teeth.
Both of them were insufferable.
“I will ignore that,” Rayan said and turned to me. “Once it’s late evening, I will get you good food to eat.”
I searched his eyes for a sign of lies, but he seemed serious so I muttered thanks.
Someone knocked on the door and we all turned to it. It opened slowly and then Stephen walked in, in his hands were flowers and another gift bucket. My face beamed into a smile.
When was the last time I saw him? It felt so long.
“Hey..” He walked towards us.
“Stephen,” I called out, excitement glowing all over my body. I started to move to welcome him with a hug but then I was pulled back.
I looked down, surprised at the pull. Theo couldn't be awake right? I looked backward and of course Theo was awake. Staring at me, his face glaring.
He seemed annoyed, why? I did nothing to him.
“Stay put.” He said, his voice low just for me to hear, but it didn't pass Rayan.
“Ah boss is awake, Isn't it such perfect timing?” Rayan started laughing. He was laughing alone. What a crazy idiot.
“Ah boss, you are here too, as expected,” Stephen said, his lips spread into a smile, but Theo didn't seem so enticed. He seemed to be in a bad mood instead.
Who wakes up and jumps to glaring?
I turned to Stephen with a smile. “Thanks for coming here, It must have been a nuisance."
Josh stood up to stand beside Rayan, allowing Stephen to sit opposite me. But I couldn't keep my focus on him. Theo’s hands on me were moving.
“It wasn't. Since hearing that you were released, so many of our workers wanted to see you, but they were afraid that boss would mind so they all stayed away.”
“Then you should have stayed away too,” Theo said behind me, his voice deep and powerful.
I forced a smile at Stephen, hoping he wouldn't be offended and he shook his head.
Halley had told me about everything about my name being cleared. I was no longer accused of being a murderer. It felt good to be freed. Though I would have to live with people’s eyes all over me from now on as my arrest was aired for the whole world to see.
“Thanks to boss we were all able to rest after so long, everyone wanted me to thank him too.” He said again and my eyes widened slightly.
I turned to look at Theo, and he only stared at me. Giving vacation wasn't the company’s norm, so why?
But why does it feel like I knew why as I stared at him?
“The company hasn't gotten a vacation that much before, not even one in so long.”
Now I was curious about how long it genuinely was.
I turned to Rayan and as if he knew what I wanted, he started talking. “Boss gave everyone in the company a month off during the goodwill gathering .” He said the last part in a whisper and I turned to Theo again, his eyes were already on me.
“If only I was a worker in the company, by now I would be enjoying a life on the ocean, with girls surrounding me.” He looked up, daydreaming.
Just how many more things did he do just because of me?
