Chapter 205 Chapter 205
Selena
“Thanks for waking up, because boss threatened that I would die with you.” He said and I smiled.
“I’m not dying, so you can live,” I said, my fingers brushing through Theo’s hair.
I should help him wash his hair later.
Theo wasn’t moving in my arms, unlike when he entered the room earlier, his heartbeat was stable now.
I smiled as my hand moved down to his back, I rubbed him gently.
He must have been so scared for him to act this way.
“But there is something else,” Rayan spoke and I turned to him. I had almost forgotten that he was with me.
“What is that?” I asked.
“Boss promised to revoke my medical license even though you are awake. I know I was wrong for not informing boss of your pregnancy and I apologised for it. So please ask boss not to revoke it. Considering I was doing you a favour.” He smirked.
So it was because of me.
Theo must have been mad because I didn’t tell him earlier. I’m sure Rayan must have told him I asked him not to, but he didn’t listen to him.
“Aren’t you fearless Rayan? Speaking against me while I am present.” Theo said from my shoulder.
Rayan rubbed his head, smiling cheesily. “She is the young madam, what should I be afraid of?” He said and my eyes widened. But Theo didn’t say anything after. As if confirming his words.
I smiled.
“Considering our past relationship, you won't have my license revoked right?” Rayan asked again, pestering.
I stared at him, and he pouted, making a pleading face. I nodded softly.
“I think he was joking when he said that. Aren’t you the only medical personnel in the underground? The workload is already much, who could get used to it without complaining your ears off.
I said but Theo didn’t say anything. I nodded at Rayan. “How about you go back in, by when you come back, Theo will have what to say.”
Rayan nodded with a smile. “Thanks Madam, there is no taking back.” He laughed and they walked out. Again the room was silent after he walked out. Theo still wasn’t saying anything.
It was foreign.
Us being just like this. In each other’s embrace, no words spoken. Just our hearts beating against each other. And I wanted it to be that way forever.
So we stayed that way. The silences tangling our heartbeats.
I sighed finally. “Doesn’t your back hurt? You have been like this for so long.” I asked, worried.
Maybe he was sleeping?
He didn’t say anything so I concluded that he was indeed sleeping, but just then, he moved away from me. Taking along the warmth his body provided.
Theo stared at me. His eyes noting every dot on my face like he was trying to memorize me, and then he smiled, and God I wanted to keep it that way forever.
I smiled back at him, then I drew closer to him and kissed him.
He opened up and the kiss deepened slowly, softly, different from all the kisses we had shared. It was melting and I wanted nothing more than to hide in his skin.
I broke the kiss, “I’ve missed you, Theo.” I said, trying to catch my breath.
There was an empty feeling inside after waking up. Even in Theo’s arms, the empty part of me felt barely closed and I wondered why.
Theo looked down and his eyes landed on my stomach. He moved closer to me, his hand reaching towards my stomach, hesitantly, then he placed his hands on it.
Gently, like he was being extremely careful not to hurt me. I smiled and placed my hand on his hand over my stomach.
“See, can you feel our baby?” I asked him, but like a kid seeing something for the first time, he stared, and I wondered what was going through his mind. Was he happy about it?
I swallowed, suddenly feeling complicated.
“I’m sorry..”
My heart cut at his words..what was he apologizing for?
He didn’t want and wasn’t happy with the baby?
“I’m sorry for not recognizing that you were carrying our baby.” He said and relief washed over me. I shook my head.
“How would you know? It didn’t show. And besides, I chose to keep it from you so there is definitely no way you had found out.” I comforted, but Theo only shook his head.
“No, I should have known. I should have created the space to know. If only I had been merciful, then you would have told me sooner, but I wasn’t. What if something had happened to you then? I was hurting you.” He said, his eyes not looking at mine. I sighed and held his face.
“Can you please not say that?” I asked. “Let’s not feel guilty over this. The most important thing is that everything is fine. I’m okay so are you.” I brushed my fingers over his forehead, and then to his cheeks.
I stared at all his beautiful facial features.
God really took his time creating Theo. And our baby would be taken after that. And of course me.
“Promise me, you won’t hold yourself for it anymore,” I asked, looking at Theo, my hands still on his face.
He stared into my eyes as if searching for something, then he nodded. My lips curled into a smile and I moved closer and kissed his eyes.
His hands moved gently around my stomach as if feeling the baby, connecting with him, and my heart beat satisfyingly.
Just the moment. Just both of us, sitting in front of each other with our baby. I have been waiting for this day since I was announced to be pregnant.
“Thank you.” He murmured, staring at me, his hands still on my stomach.
“How do you feel?” He looked around and I wondered what he was searching for.
“Are you hungry? You should be hungry. Why didn’t Rayan get you something to eat?” He started to reach for his phone in his pocket, but I held his hand.
“Are you just worried about me eating now? You should have about forty minutes ago.” I pouted and I shouldn’t have said that because his face mortified into one of regret.
“I’m sorry, I should have—“
I placed my finger on his lip, silencing him.
What was wrong? Theo was being too tender, not his normal pushy self.
“Don’t apologize. I was joking. Rayan ordered a light porridge when I woke up, then I ate an apple. He said that was all I needed for now.” I explained and he nodded.
“I’m glad, Selena.” There was something about the Theo sitting before me. His demeanor was soft. Too soft, and I wondered if it was because of me not waking for days.
Again, Theo wrapped his hands around me, but this time, he pulled me gently to follow him as he lay on the bed. His hand held my head as I rested on his chest. My ears listened to the soft beat of his heart.
“Thank you, Selena. Thank you for coming back to me.”
