Chapter 211 Amalie
Chapter 211 Amalie
“Have you thought about any names yet?” Luna Angelina asks as she sits next to me at my baby shower.
“No, not yet,” I say as I rest my hands on my growing belly.
She just hums as she looks around at the hall decorated in baby blue. “Where has that mate of mine gotten off to?” Angelina asks as she looks for her mate.
“Cal and Mark pulled him and a few other Alphas to help with something,” I laugh. They have been very secretive lately.
I had tried to be exclusive on who got to come to my baby shower, just wanting my friends and family. But then dad had pointed out that many of the Lunas in our new alliance would love to come. Having them come, would strengthen our alliance and show that they would stand with us.
Rebekah and I had coordinated in inviting the Lunas of our growing alliance to my baby shower. Gretchen and Michelle had only invited females of the pack who were friends with my grandmother and my friends. Or the whole female population of our pack would have shown up. Vickie had insisted on blue flowers for decorations. Sarah had used her magic to put up some of the decorations, and speed run blowing up balloons. The pair had decorated the hall for the party. Kim and Kira had spent yesterday preparing food for the party, while I got my first taste of being hostess for visiting Alphas and their mates.
Only fifty-two women showed up to my party. It is more than I wanted, but less than what everyone else wanted. Dad had pointed out is my baby shower, and I should feel comfortable.
Twelve Lunas had come. We had twelve packs pledging loyalty to my alliance. A few only joined because I was a white wolf. Three had joined in hopes that a witch or two would join their pack. The rest had joined because they wanted peace.
“Mommy!” Rose shouts as she comes sprinting at me. She crashes into me and let’s out a small oomph.
“What?” I ask, trying not to laugh.
“Present,” she says as she shows me a bag.
“You can go set it with the others,” I laugh and point to the mountain of gifts.
“For me!” Rose says excitedly. She is holding a sparkly pink bag.
“Sorry, I know that usually all the gifts are for you, but I figured your daughter would like one of her own,” Stephanie says as she walks towards me with her own newborn cradled in her arms.
“Thank you,” I say as Rose carefully goes through her bag. She takes out the tissue paper one piece at a time. Rose folds it before going after another piece. “How was your trip?”
“Long, but we wanted to make it,” she answers. “Grandfather said that we would not miss this opportunity.”
“Where is Alpha Micah and your mate?” I ask as I look around for the visiting Alphas.
“Pulled into whatever mess your mates are causing with the rest of the Alphas and men,” she laughs as she sits at my table.
“When will someone tell me what they are doing?” I ask laughingly. They started working on this a few months ago, giving me vague answers and saying that I will like it, but nothing else.
“Not until later,” Kira says as she comes to my table. “Everyone is here; you want to start with the games?”
“I have no idea what you have planned or how a baby shower should go,” I tell her as I look around.
“And that is why we planned this party,” Vickie laughs as she comes into the hall.
“First game, you all should have gotten a paper,” Kim starts to explain. “You are to fill out the paper to the best of your ability.”
Angelina and Stephanie leave my table to go find seats. My table is reserved for my family and friends.
The paper is full of questions like: When is the baby going to be born? What is name the parents have picked out? Weight and Length? Hair color and Eye color? What food is the mother craving?
“We don’t know her,” a visiting Luna says. I don’t remember what pack she is part of or her mate. I think she is one of the ones who wants a witch to join their pack.
“That’s the point,” Kim says. “This is just a thing to guess or give Ama name suggestions. It is just full of questions that will going to Ama so she can look at them and remember who came.”
Most of the women laugh and start to write. They laugh to each other, and the whispers get louder as the women talk about their answers.
I look over my own paper. I start to write my own answers, leaving the name blank. Cal, Mark, and I have not talked about names yet.
“Okay, turn in your papers,” Vickie laughs as she starts to collect the papers.
“Next, we need three volunteers,” Kira says as she stands up.
No one volunteers at first. Looks are thrown around the room; no one wants to be the one to volunteer.
“Me! Mommy can I volunteer!” Rose asks as she jumps out of her seat.
I make eye contact with Kira, and she nods her head.
“Okay,” I tell her.
Rose hugs me before racing to Kira. Kira picks up rose and places her on her hip.
“Come on, we need two more volunteers,” Kira says.
“I will,” Angelina says as she stands up.
“Sure, why not,” a different Luna says.
“Okay, now that we have our volunteers. You three are going to change and swaddle the baby doll,” Kira says as Gretchen carries three bundles up to them.
They get the baby dolls, blankets, clothes, and diapers laid out in the separate piles. Kira sets Rose down and kneels next to her.
“On your marks, get set, go,” Gretchen says.
The two Lunas dive straight in to change the doll. Kira talks Rose through how to change her new brother.
“She’s going to be the best big sister,” Stephanie smiles as we watch Rose change the diaper and clothes.
I don’t notice when the Lunas finish, I just keep my eyes on my daughter. She is smiling as she works on wrapping the blanket next.
“Yay!” Rose cheers once she is done.
Everyone cheers for her. Rose carries her swaddled baby back to me. She smiles and sits down with her baby.
Kira laughs and nods her head that it is okay for Rose to keep the toy.
“Let’s move on to the next game,” Kim laughs as the party moves on.
“Sorry I’m late,” Juliet says as she slides into the remaining seat at my table.
“Thank you for making it,” I tell the warrior.
“I meant to get here sooner,” she tells me as Kim hands out old-fashioned safety pins that were used on cloth diapers.
“Thought you wouldn’t make it,” Vickie laughs as she sits back down in her seat.
“The guys,” she huffs and we all laugh.
