CHAPTER 34 You being back is the greatest present

The fuzzy figure gradually became clear. How could he be someone other than Jack Wood?

By that moment, Stephanie experienced from her all time low to the peak. She stared at him with her eyes wide open, as if to make sure, and Jack generously expose himself in her sight.

In tears of joy, she ran to him and began to pound his chest. Jack, however, didn't stop her indulgence. Anyway, she was not strong enough to do actual harm to him.

After she had exhausted her anger, Jack hugged her tight and bowed to kiss her. Stephanie, however, was still angry about being cheated and covered his mouth with her hand. "You lier!"

Jack felt innocent. "How could I lie to you?"

As he spoke, he took Stephanie's hand. Stephanie didn't resist, so he put that hand to his lips and left a sincere kiss on it.

The kiss made her blush.

"You mean you didn't lie to me? You are now standing here well, but you together with the doctors tricked me to make me believe that you fell PVS. Do you know how scared I was?" Stephanie's face was red and her voice was much lower too.

Her angry look seemed lovely to Jack. He wanted to kiss her, so he kept drawing his face closer to hers. Till they were virtually forehead to forehead, he said gently, "I am sorry. I just wanted to give you a surprise."

It was like Jack had some kind of charm which glued her eyes to him. However, when she came to recall what she"d told him in those three days, she got vexed and shy again. "What kind of surprise is this?"

"I am sorry. I apologize to you." Jack was still smiling gently. His face was so close that she could feel his hot breaths, which made her thoughts muddy. Jack smiled in satisfaction, after which he bowed his head, trying to occupy her charming lips.

By then, Stephanie seemed to realize Jack's plan and turned sober again. Enraged, she pushed Jack away and left. "I won't forgive you this easily!"

She took merely a few steps forward when she heard someone speaking in the crowd, "He fainted. Is he alright?"

She was thus reminded that Jack was supposed to be weak after the car accident. She turned around immediately. As expected, Jack had fallen to the rose sea. In a hurry, she went back and kneeled by him to check his condition.

"Jack?" She called his name tentatively, but Jack didn't respond at all. She got anxious and started shaking his body, hoping to wake him up. Still, he was lying there quietly, just like before.

"Jack, if you keep lying there, I am getting angry!" Stephanie nearly cried out, but Jack was still unresponsive. Eventually, she gave in. "Get up, Jack. If you get up now, I will not be angry with you again. I will do whatever you want me to do."

Her words were as if magical, just like the spell that turned the frog into a prince. Jack opened his eyes, his dark pupils filled with tenderness. "I heard that." He quickly got up and pressed Stephanie under his body. This time, Stephanie was the sleeping beauty awaiting for the prince's kiss.

Till the kiss befell on her lips, her eyes were still wide open, but she didn't resist.

Seeing that the couple had met their good end, the crowd broke into furious applause.

After a while, Jack finally let go of Stephanie. He pressed her little head against his chest.

"Do you like it?" He whispered.

"Like what?" She hadn't recovered from the long kiss. Her confused look amused Jack, who left another light kiss on the corner of her forehead.

"Here, of course. It took me much effort to prepare."

Stephanie got what he meant. "You being back is the greatest present for me." She was pleased but a bit shy.

"You little fool." Hearing her simple wish, Jack was reminded of the dream she had been repeating for these three days. His past rudeness came up to his mind, making him sore. Liz once told him that Stephanie had suffered so much unfairness because of him. Even so, her love for him never changed. Wasn't that his felicity?

"I'm so sorry." He hugged her waist gently. His whisper was like a nighttime breeze, soft and relaxing. She didn't cry, and gave a large smile instead. It was that warm smile he saw when they first met, but this time it's real and touchable.

"I love you, Stephanie."

The abrupt profession stunned Stephanie. It was probably the first time she heard him spoke his love out loud. Her love over these years was finally paid back. Could there be something more pleasant than that?
