Chapter 468 His Concern
Chapter 468 His Concern
"Thanks for looking out for me. And hey, let's keep this between us. We don't want Mr. Robinson finding out. Isaiah might be impulsive, but he's got a real design talent. We shouldn't let this mess up his future."
Lauren's defense of Isaiah wasn't just out of kindness; she genuinely valued talent.
But to Zoey, it seemed like Lauren was just a genuinely good person, even being so forgiving towards Isaiah.
All day, Zoey kept a wary eye on Isaiah, worried he might cause trouble again. But to her relief, Isaiah behaved normally, allowing Lauren to leave work on time.
After dinner, Lauren went upstairs to take a shower. When she came out of the bathroom, she saw Quentin reading a book. As she approached, he quickly hid it.
Curiosity piqued, Lauren asked, "What were you reading? Hiding it so carefully... It's not some inappropriate magazine, is it?"
Before she could finish, Quentin pinched her cheek hard. "Lauren, what goes on in that head of yours?"
The sudden pinch almost made Lauren cry out in pain. She quickly swatted his hand away and rubbed her cheek. "Why pinch me? That hurt!"
Seeing the red mark on her cheek, Quentin's eyes flashed with regret. "Does it hurt a lot? Let me see."
Lauren immediately covered her face. "No way! I'm afraid it'll get worse if you look."
Seeing her resistance, Quentin didn't insist. "Fine, I won't look. Give me your hand."
"What for?" Lauren asked, puzzled.
"Just give me your hand," Quentin said, not offering any explanation. Reluctantly, Lauren extended her hand.
What Quentin did next left her stunned. He started massaging her fingers. Though his movements were a bit clumsy, they seemed professional, as if he had practiced in secret.
More importantly, he pressed exactly on the pressure points, and soon, Lauren felt the soreness from the previous day melt away.
She wiggled her fingers in surprise. "The pain's gone! When did you learn this?"
"It's simple. I didn't need to learn it. Just picked it up by watching," Quentin replied nonchalantly, not mentioning how he had used Felix as a practice dummy all day, leaving Felix's hand sore and numb.
"Sure, Mr. Robinson, the genius. If it's so easy, why were you sneaking peeks at a book on pressure points?"
Lauren had already noticed the book Quentin hid earlier. Seizing the moment, she snatched it from him.
Quentin's expression shifted briefly before returning to normal. "If I were you, I wouldn't be so smug. Ever heard the saying?"
"What saying?" Lauren asked, suddenly feeling nervous.
"Debts must be repaid," Quentin said, pouncing on her like a panther and pinning her down, reclaiming the book.
Lauren was stunned, her eyes wide in disbelief.
Assessing the situation, she quickly put on a placating smile. "You wouldn't hold a grudge, right? Mr. Robinson is magnanimous. I'll just go now."
As she tried to wriggle free, Quentin saw through her ploy. "You think you can leave now?"
Quentin scooped her up and laid her on the bed, showering her with kisses.
Lauren soon melted, her eyes soft and inviting.
Quentin's gaze darkened as he began to enjoy his prey.
The next morning, as the family sat down for breakfast, Matthew kept glancing at Lauren.
Before she could ask, he ran upstairs and returned with a small jar, placing it in front of her.
"Mommy, this is ointment from Peter. It stops itching quickly."
"What?" Lauren asked, confused.
Matthew pointed to her neck. "Mommy, didn't you notice? You got a big mosquito bite. It's all red. Put this on, and it'll get better."
Lauren's expression froze. She asked Peter for a mirror and saw the large red mark Quentin had left on her neck the night before.
She quickly flipped the mirror face down on the table, glaring at Quentin.
Quentin, didn't I tell you not to leave marks in obvious places? Now Matthew saw it!
Under Lauren's angry gaze, Quentin couldn't eat calmly. He set down his utensils and patted Matthew's head. "She already put on ointment last night. Don't worry, Matthew. Go to school."
Matthew nodded obediently but wondered what kind of bug could leave such a big mark on Lauren.
At the office, Lauren's face was still flushed. She didn't say a word to Quentin as she walked into Robinson Conglomerate.
Felix, standing nearby, quickly understood. "Mr. Robinson, did Mrs. Robinson fight with you?"
"No, just a little tantrum," Quentin replied, watching Lauren with a mix of frustration and affection.
When Lauren entered the design department, Isaiah was busy on his phone. Only after someone reminded him did he put it away.
He had been composing a message to Maeve.
"Today's tasks aren't too heavy. Finish your work early and head home," Lauren said with a faint smile before heading to her office.
Once she was inside, Isaiah took out his phone again. Maeve had already replied.
