Chapter 230: Plan In Motion

Chapter 230: Plan In Motion
Vladic Regime's POV:

"Sire?" Balmerian asked as he reached the door of my office when he turned around to face me. He stood there next to the door, not touching it for the moment, as I was waiting there in the central part of my office.

I scoffed at him, as he was not the usual informant who knew how things were to be done and carried out. Emeric was such. I was not like any other leader of a clan of vampires, and I could not stand the various abilities that some of the werewolves possessed. Having others' thoughts and conversations rummaging around inside your head all day, that is not something I was going to tolerate.

"Sire?" Balmerian called out to me again, waiting for my attention before he spoke next, as I knew he was not quite sure as to what I was thinking. It was obvious he couldn't read my reaction at that precise moment either. "Is there anything else?"

I was a bit irritated at the arrogance of one man. "Do you not recall that you were invited to come along with us?" I asked harshly as he turned to face me directly, seeing the disappointment. "Did you not hear my statement earlier. I informed you, and I despise repeating myself. I told you that you are welcome to join us."

With his hand, gripping the strap that was stretched across his chest as the bag hung down to his hip, he broke eye contact with me for a moment. Finally, he looked back at me when he commented, quite timidly, considering his position within my clan, when he said, "Pardon for my foolishness, I am not suited for such things, My Lord Regime. I'm afraid that I will only be in the way.

"You are more helpful than you know," I harped at him with less enthusiasm in the tone I used this time. I was still quite irritated that he denied my request. Although in a way, I didn't exactly ask him. It was more of an invitation of sorts. "Shall you go and have Emeric return now? See to your needs, just ensure that Emeric is sent with haste."

"I shall do as you command, My Lord Regime," Balmerian said as he bowed his head to me, as he walked out the door and stopped in the doorway, as he turned back to look at me, requesting, "May I be excused now?"

"Very good. You may leave my presence," I told him as I waved my hand about in the air, causing the door to my office to open suddenly. "On the contrary, I want you to go and retrieve Emeric first. That way, I will have Emeric do what I need to do. You, on the other hand, can be dismissed and therefore return to your plans as usual."

"Very well, Sire," Balmerian said as he walked closer over to the door. "I shall do that very thing."

Once he was outside the threshold of my door, I waved my hand about, closing the door back as I turned my back to face the door once more and proceeded to head back in the direction of my window. I wasn't deep in thought, as I wondered how soon we could get this new plan set into motion. I again placed both of my hands behind me, grasping the opposite wrist as I noticed it was well past dusk at this time.

We are better suited to fly in the dark. With darkness as our cover, it truly helps to conceal our presence from any and all who might try to see us as we move about in flight. It's not that I didn't have a spell or two in play, that would keep any and all werewolves from being able to, since we were there. However, I wanted to ensure we came and went about unnoticed. The last thing I would tolerate is being hindered in any way.

As I waited there, I was pleased when there was yet another knock on my door, making it so that I didn't have to wait all that much longer for Emeric to come back. However, I knew it was him when he opened up my office door just after he knocked, just as I knew he would. By this time, I was back at my desk with my elbows perched on the front edge of my desk, ensuring my fingers were interlocked. I even went so far as to place my pointed chin, having just in front of my fingers.

I could see Emeric's hand as he placed it around the door's edge, grabbing hold of the side of the door as he slowly opened it a bit further, till his head was in full view. I knew he was not exactly sure where I was at as each time he came here, I was in a different position in my office.

"You may enter," I told him as my desk was set slightly behind the door a bit. "Don't be shy, come on in."

"You wanted to see me, My Lord Regime?" Emeric called out to me as he left the door wide open and took a few steps away from the door.

He ended up crossing his hands in front of him as he stood there waiting for my next statement. I could tell that by entering my office this time, he seemed to be a wee bit nervous. I didn't mind that I was pleased to know that entering my presence gave members of my clan a scare if you will. The only one who wasn't quite afraid of me was Brookli, my unnerving daughter. At times, I wish she were more timid around me. She needed to learn her place and remain silent at times when she chose to speak instead.

At that precise moment, with Emeric looking directly at me, I lifted my head up off my interlocked fingers and dropped my hands when I waved one hand about, ensuring the door closed back before I said anything else. I didn't want anyone else to be privy to the conversations that went on in my office. I even issued a concealment spell. It was a necessary one, so that no one on the other side of that door would hear what was being said when the door was closed completely.

He turned to look back at the door as I interlocked my fingers yet again, placing them back under the bottom side of my chin before I spoke.
