Chapter 65
Freshia Ava’s POV
The next day I woke up from my sleep and found Amara who was no longer beside me. Ah, maybe she had woken up earlier. I thought. Because I usually wake up earlier than Amara. I immediately got out of bed and stepped out of the room. When I just opened the bedroom door, I heard the faint sound of people talking. It seemed like the sound was coming from the living room until I decided to go there.
Getting closer to the living room, I immediately recognized that the two voices definitely belonged to Martin and Amara. However, when I heard the contents of their conversation, I felt my heart going crazy.
“I feel like giving up, Martin. Last night I couldn't sleep just because I thought about the safety of my family. I want to go back home.” Those words came out of Amara's mouth.
"What if you get caught by Eros' men again, Amara?" Martin replied.
"I do not know. But what is certain is that I can only be at peace if my family members are under my own supervision. I don't want them to get involved in this problem, Martin. Especially if you remember what you did to Eros yesterday when you beat him like a madman. I'm sure he won't stay silent. You have to be careful too, Martin. Eros will definitely take revenge on you in the same way, or even more cruelly."
I immediately covered my mouth when I found out about this. So stunned when I found out the facts that I had just heard. Did Martin beat Eros completely?
“Hush! Lower your volume. I don't want Freshia to know that I did it. My name must remain good in his eyes.”
“That doesn't matter now, Martin! I know your other goal in saving him was to take her heart, but not now! No matter what, Freshia is still my friend and I know that it wasn't easy for her to accept you so quickly. Never take advantage of adversity!"
Amara was silent for a moment before speaking again. “However, I have no other choice but to ask you to look after her. I just realized that what I am fighting now is not comparable to me. Eros is no match for me. And try to imagine if what Eros was after was my mother, would you still be able to survive in this place? Surely you would prefer my mother, right?"
Martin was silent. Then not long afterward he started speaking again. "Go back to your house. Live your life as before this problem occurred. Trust Freshia to me. I will continue to order my men to guard and supervise you. If Eros brings you back and asks where Freshia is, just tell him this place. After you leave, I will also take Freshia away from here and that means you won't know her whereabouts either.”
“If that's what's best for us and I can't do more than this, what can I do? I just want to ask you to always take care of it."
Hearing all that made my heart hurt incredibly. I immediately walked back to my room trying my best not to make a sound. I don't know how I should act in front of them now. How could they determine my life like that? How is all this different from when I was still at Eros' house? Even though I have left the house, why can't my life return to normal? Why can't I determine my own life?
I sat back on my bed and squeezed the hem of my shirt tightly to channel my suppressed emotions. My eyes closed and tears started to flow. I deliberately bit my lower lip hard enough to keep from crying. I have to hold it myself. Until not long after, I found my bedroom door being knocked on from outside and I was sure that it was Martin because Amara couldn't have done that, he would have come straight in without knocking first.
I quickly wiped my tears and exhaled roughly before walking to open the door. When the door opened, sure enough, Martin was standing in front of it. “Did you just wake up, Freshia?” He asked, I knew he was making small talk. I just nodded my head.
“How about we have breakfast now? I have something to say," he said again.
"Where is Amara?" I asked suspiciously because why wasn't Amara the one who invited me to have breakfast together?
“That's also what I want to convey to you. So it's better if we talk in the dining room.” Martin answered. Again, I just nodded my head and immediately followed Martin who was walking in front of me.
Martin and I sat opposite each other at the dining table with a plate of sandwiches in front of each of us. I glanced to the side and couldn't find another plate of sandwiches that was supposed to be prepared for Amara. And a split second later I realized that Amara had left me without saying goodbye first. My heart felt broken at that moment. I just stared blankly at the sandwich on the plate in front of me.
“Eat first, Freshia,” Martin said, interrupting my thoughts.
"Where's Amara?" I asked finally. I can no longer act as if I'm not curious why he didn't come to breakfast this morning.
“She returned to her house. I didn't meet her either. But what is certain is that my men who were guarding the front of the house said that she left secretly early this morning by ordering my other men to take her to her house." Martin's reply was a lie.
"I'm grateful. She must be at peace now that she can return to her family. Since last night, she looked worried and said that she was worried that her family would be involved in this problem." I replied with words that were also dishonest. Not only Martin, I also lied to myself because I thought everything was fine. That without a good breakup, my friendship with Amara would also be fine. At least, that's what I want to believe right now.
“Freshia, then we should also leave here. It is certain that Amara will be caught again by Eros and will again be asked about your whereabouts. At that time, it is certain that Amara will no longer be able to avoid it and will definitely reveal this location. So, we have to move, Freshia.” Martin said suddenly.
"Where to?"
“Come with me abroad. You and I can start a new life there and Eros will definitely have a hard time finding us."
I was silent for a moment while looking at Martin who was also looking at me. “That's your life, not mine, Martin.”
Martin suddenly frowned when he heard my reply. "What do you mean?"
“I can't leave this city. My grandmother is here, Martin. I can't leave her. You go back to your proper home. Your mother must be waiting there. Let me stay here.”
"Then you'll be caught by Eros again, huh?" Martin shouted at me which suddenly surprised me. In all the time I've known him, this is the first time I've seen his true nature, that he dared to yell at me like that. So I just kept quiet at that time.
“Don't be stupid, Freshia! Do you really want to go back to that damn house again?!” It's exciting to be back.
“I just couldn't leave my grandmother, Martin.”
Martin was silent for a moment as he looked at me. Then she pushed her hair back before finally saying. "Then where are you going after this?"
“I will return to my original home.” My answer is short.
"And let Eros kidnap you again, is that it? That's the same as digging your own grave, Freshia! Think clearly. I thought this was also for your good.”
“This is my life, Martin. Not your life. Let me choose."
Martin glared at me. That look was the first I saw from him in all the time I knew him. One by one, Martin's true nature begins to be revealed. If it wasn't for me, who could have gotten you out of that place, Freshia? If it weren't for me, you would still be living with that bastard by now! Come to your senses!” Martin exclaimed again.
Hearing that, made me smile sadly. Now, not only is it fragile, but my heart can no longer feel anything.
