Chapter 55 Laptop
“Are you Comfortable?” Adrian asked and I nodded as I snuggled more onto the couch, he had been on a call.
When we opened the door, we found ourselves in a room As we opened the door leading out of the room I found a couple of guards standing outside, they knew who I was, Papa must have told them about me, waiting for me to find the door.
We were at the airport, one that belonged to my father and now we were in his plane, whatever is happening, we need to find a safer place.
“Where are we going to Adrian. How about the mafia, we can’t just abandon them and anyone else.” I breathed out.
“We are going to my hometowns and believe me when I say I will never abandon any of them.” He said, “I need to make sure that you are safe, and I need to be able to work better, I have spoken to the guards, they were locked inside the garage.”
“How did they get all of the guards to be in one place?” I asked.
They must have done a lot of work.”
“I am still trying to find out, we were able to get two of the men who barged into the house, it’s about time we find out what is going on? Who is after this and what do they want ?.”
Who would want to work with my uncle? What did he have to offer them, I know he didn’t have money and everyone knows that he is not even a part of the family, it’s not even like anyone knows him, or worse, was he using Papa’s identity to get what he wants, we informed everyone that Papa died, and the word was spread all across
I have so many thoughts, one filled my mind even more. It was weird that I got a text from someone related to Adrian and at the same time we got attacked, it didn’t even take up to six hours before the attack took place.
It scared me, and I didn’t want to tell him what I know, at least not right now.
“Can I use your laptop?” I whispered and he nodded handing it to me.
“You will be safer in my hometown, no one will even think of coming close to you, we can announce merging the mafia when we are there, I will make you tea.”
“Adrian you don’t have to,” I whispered
“I didn’t ask, I will get you something to eat too, you don’t have to worry about the things happening, you should not be going through any of this.” He said and I smiled softly.
What do I believe?
The sociopath I see on paper or rather the sweet person heading his way to the kitchen, he is the same person, just a different timeline line and Papa ever wanted to tell me about Adrian, not that I am surprised, Papa didn’t like to talk about other people even if he was not close to them,
“Why are you not here to tell me what to do Papa? You knew this na you knew one day I would know, maybe you didn’t think he would lie to me, why do you think he is lying to me? Did you believe his lies too or did you trust your instinct, did you trust that what’s written on that paper is nothing but bullshit?” I breathed out.
Talking to myself, it felt like I was truly starting to lose what’s left of my mind, what I knew was that, everything happening was starting to eat me up and right now I didn’t want to think about it.
I logged into my email when I found a message waiting for me, there were a few messages from different people from the mafia giving their respect after Papa died, I never opened it because it didn’t mean anything to me.
It’s not going to change the fact that he is gone, it’s not going to change the fact that they took him away from me before I could even have a chance to say goodbye properly.
I tapped on the email.
I hear you are coming to my hometown, maybe it’s time we meet, maybe it’s time you know more about your precious husband’s family and friends, maybe it’s better if you know about his life, I would love to meet you soon Elara.
I would love to watch you tell me all about how he lied to you, how he manipulated your papa but I promise you, what you think now? What you feel now it’s far worse than what I am willing to tell you.
Meet me in a day at Patrick’s café, I will be there all day waiting..
The message read, It was signed by anyone just like the first message yet I knew it was his brother, it had to be, or could it be someone from his family, like his uncle, I knew he didn’t talk to any of them though.
A breath falls out of my lips.
“Here.” I heard a voice and I jolted in my position, my heart skipped a beat when I instantly shut the laptop and my eyes met his.
he is going to realise something is wrong.
“You startled me, Adrian.” I breathed out as I stared at him, I didn’t want him to know that I was hiding something, I was not going to meet anyone from his family, but it didn’t mean I wanted him to know.
“I made you tea and grilled cheese, you need to eat.” He said handling the plates over to me. “No one is here, it’s only us, they didn’t follow us up, You don’t have to worry about it.” He said
“I know, I am excited to see where you grew up Adrian, and learn more about you, and everything else.” I smiled as he stared at me.
I will find everything he is hiding.
