Chapter 39
Chapter 39
I stopped at a spot after hearing Kate's question. A faint sigh escaped my lips before I turned to face her.
"Yes, Kate. I told you before, didn't I? See, when I discovered I was a witch, I was just as astonished as you are."
I gave her my response while her gaze narrowed on me.
"I am part werewolf and part witch,"
Kate nodded and muttered, "Since when have you found out about it?"
"Since I discovered I have three mates," I replied to her with a chuckle but there wasn't a single trace of a smile on her face.
"Furthermore, I learned about it from an elderly seer. Let's go to Hazel, she must be waiting for us," I suggested and Kate hesitated before following me..
It was like she had so many thoughts going on in her mind.
"You look so puzzled. It's not the first time you witnessed me using my powers, is it?"
"No, it's not,"
"I'm only curious as to why you have that bracelet on. It looks quite unique especially with those markings on them. Where did you get it?"
I smiled sheepishly as I locked my gaze at her.
"Well, this is one special bracelet," I stated and ended up biting my lips regretfully.
I felt I shouldn't spill anything about the bracelet to her.
Well, she's my friend so she has the right to know,
"Desmond gave it to me." I responded as I raised my hand so she could have a proper look at it.
"It's beautiful but what do you mean by it's special?"
I raised my head to her, hesitating to give a reply. "I don't know. All I know is Desmond gave it to me as a gift and asked me to keep it well."
I replied to her without wanting to give away every detail, but since she was a born witch, I suppose she already knew the significance of that bracelet.
"You look like you have something to say, what is it, Kate?"
Kate smiled and shook her head slightly. And I knew she was trying to hide something from me.
"Common, tell me, your expression tells me the opposite,"
"Okay the thing is, I've seen something similar to that before."
"Where?" I asked, my face etched with curiosity.
"When I went back in time during a trance, I realized it's what most powerful witches wear. Witches who don't have great powers aren't given one. I'm just quite shocked to see it with you," Kate divulged while I blinked repeatedly.
Okay, this is quite funny..
Kate thought the bracelet was worn by strong witches in the past, but Desmond revealed that his mother was a great witch in the past who fashioned it and passed it down to females in their lineages.
Which one of them am I supposed to believe?
Kate tapped me on the shoulder, jolting me from my reverie. She smiled at me and said, "Let's go see Hazel. She must be angry that we kept her waiting. Who knows? She might think we're starting to avoid her because she's now a hybrid."
"I guess you have a point," I muttered back to Kate with a smile and then, we scurried like kids in the corridor.
After school hours, I was glad to see the green carriage outside. I mumbled with delight as I knew my mates were already here to pick me.
Carlos got down first, brushing his hair with his fingers as he glanced around, if only he knew how dashing he was.
Xavier alighted next, his brown fleece jacket revealed his broad arms and chest. He swerved his head right to left, trying to prevent his long hair from obscuring his face. He looked so hot and I could see a lot of girls drooling as they stood at a corner.
Desmond was the last to alight. When he did, a warm contagious smile appeared on his face with two adorable dimples. He closed the door of the carriage, his gray eyes bearing into mine. He looked so stunning and charming.
Their scents filled my nose and I almost dropped to my knees.
"She's so lucky,"
I heard one of the girls gossip behind me.
I smiled in realization at the truth in her words.
Who could be the happiest if not me?.
My mates walked up to me and I gave each of them a warm embrace.
"Are we heading home now?" I asked them cutely but Carlos cupped my cheek and brought his face closer to me.
He smiled at me and muttered, "I have a few things to do at your school before leaving with you. I have an announcement to give to the students and staff as the Alpha."
I saw a huge cart with some guards pushing it to the school.
"Since the school is where the outbreak of vampire attacks happened, I am willing to assure them of safety from me as the ruler. Desmond has vervain in those carts. It will be delivered to woofless students and those with untriggered wolves. This will help them not to get compelled by a vampire."
"You're doing your best as the Alpha. I'm proud of you," I responded as I touched Carlo's cheek softly, gazing sweetly into his charming blue eyes.
Xavier coughed, trying to divert our attention. I smiled as I turned to face him. He doesn't like to be ignored and I can sense the little hint of jealousy in him when he watches me discuss with Carlos.
While Carlos gave his speech, I could see different female students drooling and wanting to get his attention.
I scratched my nape and smacked my head at their reaction. Some ladies almost fought just to be in the front line so he could have a chance to see them clearly.
I chuckled lightly and Desmond caught eyes with me.
He smiled and looked away and I couldn't help but giggle loudly.
When we got back to the palace, some guards appeared, getting our attention and making us stop on our tracks.
One of the guards advanced towards us and bowed in front of Alpha Carlos.
"What is it?"
"Your highness, you ordered that we capture the great witch didn't you?"
"We're here to let you know that we have her with us." Another guard revealed and I saw Carlos's eyes grow wide.
I'm curious to know more about this particular witch.
Who on earth was she?
"Where is she?" Carlos asked this time around with gritted teeth, his voice laced with anger and he clenched his fist tightly.
"We kept her at the dungeon your highness,"
Carlos leaned and whispered to them. "How on earth were you able to find her?"
The guard's brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed as he tried to recall. He looks quite confused.
"She came of her free will, Sir. Even I was shocked," The guard revealed and Carlos nodded.
"So much bravery,"
He said lastly while we headed to our chamber.
Carlos and Xavier decided to see Cecile while Desmond was asked to stay with me.
I badly wanted to go have a look at her but Carlos won't allow it. He was the most overprotective of me among my mates.
After a minute that Carlos left with Xavier, I got bored as Desmond tried to keep me engaged with some things.
"Why don't Carlos want me to see her? Will she in any way harm me?" I asked and sighed before dunking on the sofa.
Desmond approached me to take a seat beside me. "He's trying to protect you from harm, dear."
"But I only wish to see her and learn more about her. I just want to know why she lied to your brother about the seal being in Goldmoon pack. Didn't you hear what her witch friend said? She's conniving with the vampires in order to get revenge on Carlos and his father. I only wish to know why, is there any harm in it?"
"But it's —-"
"Don't tell me you don't wish to know too?" I asked Desmond, stopping him from completing his statement.
"Fine, let's go but promise me we'll
return immediately after catching a glimpse of her."
"Promise!"
I muttered, my voice above a whisper as I flashed a warm smile at Desmond.
