Chapter 258: Made up
Chapter 258: Made up
"Shut up." Lauren said. This was the first time she had ever said such a thing, but she didn't feel embarrassed. She figured that to cover everything up, shutting up the guy before her was of utmost importance. There's no way she would allow him to have his way so easily.
"Okay." Bruce surrendered. What could he do? His lady had ordered him, and she had the final say. His silence was a good thing because Lauren could intently focus on what she was doing without getting distracted. He watched as she gently tended to his wound and felt his heart ache. He had brought her the trouble by not taking his health seriously. It seemed it was time to change that. He didn't want her to worry about him that much. Bruce couldn't believe that he had finally found someone who genuinely cared for him. Well, except Bellamy, that cold guy but with a soft heart.
"Done." Lauren announced as she started packing up the first aid kit. Bruce felt regretful because he couldn't feel her soft hand in his. But at least he felt it, right?
"Aren't you driving?" Lauren stopped her actions to look at Bruce, who seemed to be in a daze. She was puzzled as to what he was thinking.
"Huh?" Bruce, who had suddenly been called out, was startled. Drive? Where to? He had no idea about that, considering the fiasco that had happened earlier.
"Uhm...where to?" Bruce scratched his head as he asked this. He was also waiting for her response and decision on the matter.
"Weren't you supposed to take me somewhere?" In other words, Lauren meant, "hurry up and drive before I change my mind."
"Yes, miss." Bruce said with a smile before he stepped on the accelerator. Any other thing could wait. He just wanted to take her out.
Lauren scoffed when she saw how enthusiastic he looked . It was as if he had won a lottery.
"Does that mean you forgave me?" Bruce asked carefully. He didn't want to trigger her.
"No talking while driving." Lauren said and closed her eyes. She didn't want to engage in that conversation at that moment.
"Yes, ma'am." Bruce answered and continued driving.
The ride was silent but not in an uncomfortable way. Bruce was actually relieved that she was willing to accompany him to that place, especially late at night. Did that mean she really trusted him? He turned his head to glance at Lauren, only to find that she was napping. He took off his suit jacket and covered her before he reduced the speed of his car. He didn't want to wake her up before they arrived at their destination.
He was too focused on driving that he didn't notice when she woke up. It was only after pulling over that he managed to get back to his senses.
"We're here?" Lauren asked groggily.
"How did you -" as Bruce whipped his head to look at Lauren, what he saw her wearing made his words stick in his throat. He was rendered speechless.
