Chapter 257: Anxiety Disorder?

Chapter 257: Anxiety Disorder?

Ariel sat in a daze next to Craig. Both had different thoughts running in their heads. Ariel didn't know how to comfort people, so the only thing she could do was to keep him company. They had to wait until they heard from the doctor to know of the situation that Maya was in. Since Ariel had sworn that she wouldn't let Maya feel the pain for so long considering she was a god doctor, she meant it. She just needed the full report from the doctor so as to be able to determine what possible course of action.
"All will be okay." Ariel patted Craig on the shoulder as a form of consolation. That was the only thing she could do. She was a person of few words.
"Thank you." Craig looked into Ariel's eyes and said. He knew she meant what she said. She had helped him dispel the poison lodged in his body and bloodstream. That only meant she could lend a hand in Maya's matter in case things went wrong.
The two went back to their usual silence. No one was in the mood to chat, considering the situation. It wasn't the right time yet. Just then, the door opened, and the doctor walked out.

"Are you her family?" He asked as he adjusted his glasses while looking at Craig and Ariel.
"Yes." The two answered in unison and stood up. They were anxious to know the state of affairs on Maya's end.
"How is she?" After suppressing the anxiety threatening to burst out, he asked about Maya's situation. Ariel looked at him and furrowed her brows. Was her big brother suffering from anxiety disorders? If so, what had caused it? Because she could tell it wasn't the first time he experienced it. She knew she had to look into it. She couldn't let her brother suffer from such a dangerous disorder. Maybe it was time to look for a psychiatrist to fully understand him? Anyway, Ariel put that thought on hold first and focused on the matter at hand.
"She's stable now but asleep. You may go in to take a look." The doctor said and left after a few more words with the two. True to the doctor's words, Maya was asleep when the two of them went in. Ariel examined Maya once again while Craig gently held Maya's hand. It was evident just how scared he was.

"You are injured." Lauren said as soon as Bruce got into the car.
"Oh, it's nothing. " Bruce said and was about to start the car, as if his wound meant nothing. But that was true. He had experienced lots of things in life, and that wound wasn't even close to something serious. But could he tell that to Lauren? Of course not.
"Stop." Lauren said slowly. She didn't yell at all, but Bruce knew if he didn't do as she said, he would lose her for good.
"Yes?" He slowly turned his head to look at her.
"Your hand." As Lauren said this, she opened the first aid kit.
"Okay." Bruce said and extended his hand, which Lauren held and started to disinfect. Bruce winced because the pain was unexpected. Lauren didn't say anything and focused on tending to his wound. Bruce looked at Lauren's serious and focused expression and felt warm in his heart. When last did someone show such concern to him? He couldn't remember.
He opened his mouth and asked something he had been meaning to ask for a while now.
"Does that mean... you care about me?"
