Chapter 259: Billiards
Lauren looked so petite in that jacket of his. It was the jacket he had used to cover her when she slept. When she woke up, Lauren felt cold, so she decided to wear it . She didn't understand why Bruce looked shocked, though. Was it because he never allowed people to share clothes with him or ?
"When did you wake up?" Lauren almost gave him a shock. He was very sure she was still asleep. Maybe he paid little attention to her movements because he was driving.
"A few minutes ago." Lauren said as she zipped up the jacket she'd just worn. This action made Bruce's Adam's apple bob up and down.
"You look good in that, by the way." Bruce commented in the end. He couldn't stop himself from saying so.
"Thank you." Lauren blushed. She didn't expect him to suddenly say so. It made her feel unusually sweet inside. What was this feeling?
"Let's go." After unbuckling his seat belt, Bruce walked to the other side and opened the door for her. Lauren thanked him with a smile before she got out and stood beside him.
"Here you go." Bruce offered her his hand, which made Lauren hesitate.
"This...won't it cause you problems?" She had to be considerate.
"Don't worry. Trust me." Bruce said as a form of assurance. Lauren placed her hand in his, and the two made their way into the building.
"Hey, he's here." One of the guys inside saw Bruce first and announced to the others. It was as if they were really looking forward to seeing Bruce. That was indeed the case. They were all Bruce's friends, but since Bruce always resided overseas, they couldn't get the time to hang out with him.
"Hey, quiet down. Don't scare her." Bruce commented. He knew Lauren hated men, especially a group of men together. That was a traumatic response. When he turned to look at her, he could tell that she was frowning. He gave her hand a slight squeeze to assure her that he was there with her, and she was not alone because he would always make sure to protect her.
Lauren came back to her senses and smiled at him gratefully. Yes. He was here with her. And she could trust him to protect her.
"Hey, at least introduce her to us." Another guy spoke in a suggestive tone.
"Lauren, meet my friends." Bruce made a vague introduction, and Lauren smiled at them as a form of greeting.
In the middle of the night, Lauren watched as Bruce thrashed the guys one by one in the billiards game. It was so fun to watch that she felt like her eyes were shining with stars. His friends kept begging him to go easy on them, but would Bruce buy that? His prospective girlfriend was watching him, and he didn't want to make any mistakes.
"I give up." One by one, his friends started giving up, and Bruce laughed darkly at this. How dare they challenge him? He was a pro and an undefeated. Only one person could beat him in this game, and that person was Bellamy.
"Do you want to play?" After everyone gave up, Bruce turned to Lauren and smiled gently at her as he asked this. This made the guys look at Bruce with slacked jaws. Holy hell, since when did the devil have a soft and gentle side? Was that a dream?
"I don't know how to." Lauren pouted. She felt weird. Bruce was a pro while she, on the other hand, had never even held that stick before. She didn't want to make a fool out of herself.
"I will teach you. Don't worry, okay?" Bruce said patiently. At that moment, the boys felt like they were dealing with an alien. That was Bruce. Absolutely not!
