Chapter 256: Car Accident

Chapter 256: Car Accident

Lauren was silent. Very silent that it made Bruce have a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"Lauren?" Bruce called out. The silence was really torture to him because he wasn't used to that. He didn't know what was happening or what was going on in her mind, but what he knew was that he didn't want to lose her. She had already become a significant existence in his life, so how could he allow her to just leave?
After being called, Lauren raised her head and looked at Bruce. Her eyes had already turned bloodshot. Bruce didn't know what had caused that, but he felt pained to believe that he was the one who caused it in one way or another. His actions had caused that.
"I need to be alone." Lauren finally spoke. It was true. She needed to be alone to figure out things.
"Okay." After saying this, Bruce gave Lauren a final glance before getting out of the car. Since that's what she wanted, he would definitely do as she wished. He didn't want to make her sad anymore. As soon as Bruce got out of the car, Lauren weakly slumped on her seat. She didn't know what to think. It was a fact that she was surrounded by guns, considering her brothers also owned them. Her family loved her so much, and she couldn't bear to lose them once again. The only option she had was to slowly let reality sink in. It was bitter, but that was it. Nothing was going to change, oh well, except for the fact that she had to overcome the fear of guns somehow.

Lauren closed her eyes for a moment before opening them. After staying in that state for a long time, she came to a conclusion. She followed what her heart wanted.
When Bruce got out of the car, he was so anxious that he couldn't stand still. He lit a cigarette and put it in his mouth. He always did this whenever he was scared or anxious. He didn't know what was going on in Lauren's mind, but he knew he had to expect any outcome at that moment. His heart felt so suffocated no matter how much he tried suppressing it. It was a painful experience.
Just as he was lost in thought, he felt his phone vibrate.
"Let's go." It was a text from Lauren. As soon as he saw the text, he extinguished the cigarette and went back to the car.
The first thing that Lauren saw when he entered the car was the fresh gash on his hand.
"You're injured!" She shrieked.

On the other side of the capital, Lauren was urging the driver of the cab to speed up. She had heard that Maya had been involved in a car accident, and from the way Craig spoke, Ariel could tell that the injuries were quite severe. That girl was her best friend, and she absolutely could not let anything bad happen to her. As soon as she got off, she rushed into the hospital. She found Craig seated and lost in thought in the hallway.
"Brother, how is she?" Ariel asked anxiously.
Craig raised his head when he saw Ariel.
"She broke her left arm and three of her left ribs." Craig said painfully. He still had no idea what had happened. He was just waiting for her to show up, but he got the tragic news instead.
Ariel frowned. She didn't know why her intuition told her that the matter wasn't as simple as it appeared. Why did it look as though it was a premeditated accident?
"What do you think of the accident?" Ariel asked Craig as she joined him on the seat. It was overly suspicious. The nagging feeling didn't go away.
