Chapter 33
NARRATOR'S POV
The way they glared at him was obvious something was wrong. It was an impromptu meeting and it got him tensed.
His heart was restless as he felt something was up with the woman he loves.
His eyes met with kraxon, the grievous way he stared could send chills running down his spine.
Obviously, it turns out they were ready for whatsoever the outcome would be. If it weren't to their favor, they'd go with plan B.
He needn't ask what the issue was because it seemed they had mustered up the courage to taunt him.
"We ask you to step down," Kraxon began. He wasn't bowing like the rest as it seems he was already occupied with becoming king.
He anchored the meeting and was the first to begin. Arakan scoffed as he gulped hard.
It turns out they were at their worst and much more determined than last time.
"You do know what you say is slander!" He barks and the high lords raise their heads to face him.
That wasn't their problem because he just had to go away. They were with kraxon and his refusal would cause war.
"And you know we have her captured right?" The second high lord opposed and he narrowed his eyes on him.
"What?" He mused curiously and was a bit calm. Kraxon heaves deeply as he knew the king would be a difficult man to convince judging from his assertion which was puzzling.
"The girl you love!" Kraxon spat and Arkan scoffed unbelievably. Do they think he'd listen to their words if they pull such a stunt?
"She will die if you do nothing to stop them!" The third added glaring at the king with a stern look.
"You got it all wrong, that won't make me step down!" He rebukes as kraxon gulps.
It seems their king might be heartless after all because he isn't willing to give up the throne for the woman he loves.
"Then, we are free to end her life!" Kraxon rages as he snaps his fingers and almost immediately, a screen popped up revealing the girl in question.
She was bleeding and breathing heavily, her body tied to a chair and surrounded by guillotines.
He widened his eyes and tightened his grip on his throne.
"How dare you!" He rages and kraxon chuckles as a sense of pride flushes inside him.
"It's left for you to decide, her life or the throne?"
Arkan cleared his throne and stood up, he took a calculative step forward to kraxon and swallowed hard.
His eyes were embittered and it was obvious he was furious. They had thought it was to their favor.
The king would be dethroned and their plans would come into fruition to place Kraxon as the king.
"Do you know what freaks me out?"
Kraxon narrows his gaze at him as he glares into the eyes of the king. He seems positive that Arkan would step down.
Kraxon could sense the fear in his eyes for the one person he loves and it seems as though the plan was turning out to be in their favor.
"The fact that you're forgetting who I am" Arkan suddenly added and let out a sided smile.
His statement made the men cringe out as the exit door behind them glides open.
Before their very eyes they could see her walking in with pride that it got them stunned if it were a ghost.
"What?" Kraxon utters baffled by who he saw. It was the same girl they had captured.
Then who was the girl in her position?
Arkan stepped back as his eyes darken at kraxon who was agap and petrified. He had to take a lucid scan at the screen to learn of the girl who was on this human girl's position
"Sara?" He wails panting softly. What must have gone wrong? He knew it was her he captured, not his daughter!
How did she get over there?
Karxon pants softly and he adjusted his mantle and returned his gaze to Arkan who was standing opposite him.
"What do you think you're doing?" He asked boiling in rage.
"You meant how did your daughter get there?" Arkan muses and kraxon chuckles unbelievably.
It seems his plans had backfired and there was nothing he could do about it.
The girl his eyes had sighted walked in to stand beside the king. She was dressed with royalty and having a stern look at them.
If it were his wish, he'd question this girl but then, his daughter's safety was all that matters.
"What was it you were saying?" He asked and Kraxon sighs while suddenly pulling out his sword.
He took a glimpse at the girl beside him, her face flushed red and he let out a sided smile.
He'd never let anyone hurt her as he had his ways.
"If you object, then you'd have your head rolling!" Kraxon barks, drawing the king's attention to him.
Quickly all the high lords drew out their swords.
Soon, soldiers burst out and they were pointing their weapons at Arkan. It seems like a coup and these men were ready to take their king down.
"You should be thinking about your daughter!" Arkan snarls attempting to draw closer to kraxon but some of his soldiers had obstructed Arkan's path.
"Not until I slay the man who caused her pain!" Kraxon declares and quickly, a surge of power rushes inside of him.
"This is a war!" Kraxon declared and before Arkan's very eyes, rebels began to burst into the palace with their various weapons.
He was tense but didn't reveal it. As long as the woman he cherished was safe, he didn't mind fighting them off.
Lyraea appears from a corner of the palace with some robot suits, ready to fight off these rebels and their leaders which were the high lords.
However, the king instructed her to take the woman beside him away.
His lover refused, claiming she'd fight beside him. It was them against the world.
The soldiers who were still for Arakan also stood their ground to fight with their king, to stay loyal and fight against the odds of these men.
The high lords were charged against the king as they had poisoned the hearts of the people against their king.
It could only tell that they had been plotting this coup for a long time.
Arkan was worried and made her promise that she'd be safe.
Perhaps, that was his mistake, trusting her words. If he had known she'd be his death, he would have reconsidered his choice.
