Chapter 32

I spur my eyes and found myself on the bed, my body cozy and warm. I stretched myself on the bed, blushing shyly as I recalled last night.

I rolled over, intending to meet his gaze but he wasn't there. Gently, I rose up, shifted my gaze to the table.

I perceived something delicious and it was right there, some breakfast and something to quell my hunger.

I giggled naughtily and began to stuff my mouth with everything my hand laid touch on.

He wasn't here but I was missing him, perhaps, he was in a meeting. Slowly and steadily, I took my time, took a long shower, got dressed by the cloth he ordered for me and then placed outside.

However, I was greeted by Sara's appalling look at me. The way she smirked with so much hate.

She must have noticed and her eyes proved she knew I was with the king all night.

I folded my arms, staring at her with a straight face while she leaned her back on the wall.

"You healed up quickly" she began and I folded my lips, tensed and startled by her.

I tried not to feel intimidated as I chest out to look into her eyes.

"I see the way he treats you" she pressed on with a devious look at me.

"What do you want Sara"

"Just passing by" she mocks with a harsh tone. I fluttered my eyes, intending to snub her and while I tried to leave her sight, I tripped over her leg.

My body crashed to the ground and I writhe in pain.

"Oops, sorry it was a mistake" she mutters with a sided smile and then walked pass me like I didn't exist.

I tried not to be pissed off, manage to stand on my feet and straighten my dress.

I scoffed and cussed at her, then I shoved my face to the direction she was taking.

My eyes narrowed at a rug which she had stepped on and with my eyes, I caused the rug to stretch backwards and she fell to the ground.

I frowned, attempting to walk away but then I just couldn't see her hurt and decided to help her.

Hastily, I rushed to help her and she gnawed at me.

"Let me go witch!" She screeches as I swallow hard.

"You caused this right?" She further found it difficult to get on her feet.

Sara wouldn't let me aid her even though she was weak.

"I didn't" I lied, excited that she fell this hard. If only she had missed a tooth, it would have been much pleasurable.

I rolled my eyes and attempted to walk out on her but a mutter she made drew my attention once more.

I felt like she insulted me.

"What did you say to me?" I was desperate to know what she had said.

She rolled her eyes at me and began laughing mockingly.

"Ingrate" I spoke in whispers, but as loud as she could hear it.

I walked away quickly to avoid getting pissed off further.

It didn't just end there, ever since their appearance, my life has been tortured.

Gosh! She upset me all the time. Seeing her gives me goosebumps.

If I had it my way, I would have strangled her a long time ago, precisely on our first meeting.

It is a good thing that they are still people like Arkan who are good.

I have begun to see him from a different perspective and even gave up on my assassination mission on him.

I even went as far as resigning from the assassin's group just to prevent such missions.

And when they tried to hurt me for abandoning them, Arkan defended me.

I reported to him and he rescued me from their intended torments.

I know my life isn't perfect yet, but Arkan always made me feel like I could do more with my life.

I suddenly find his presence whelming and don't want him to get hurt either. He protects me and prevents me from getting hurt.

Even though we don't see each other often, our bond just seems unbreakable and keeps growing.

Gosh! Sara and Thomas, two troubles I find myself with here. But still yet I always gave them respect.

Their being here is only thanks to Tessa.

Although, I still find it shocking as they were a malicious set of people.

I wonder what their actual intentions were?

Then comes Tessa, my rival.

She would stop at nothing to get him by his side.

Luckily for me, he only has eyes for me.

I looked forward to the day he would announce me as his bride.

He was growing soft by the day and his harsh thoughts on my people declined.

My soft spot for him growls more.

The sun wore a bright smile, it was mild on the skin as though anticipating for this day.

Drones buzzed about their daily surveillance.

The breeze was gentle in its way.

Chains rattled as workers were busy fixing spoilt machines.

The day felt lively and different from any other day.

Or it was, judging from the fact that I received a letter from Arkan to me by the brook.

It is an artificial one that was recently created.

I was dressed in my finest robe. I wanted to look gorgeous and impressive.

I looked up on it as a date as he has never invited me to such a place before.

My face flushed red because I knew it was going to be good news.

Tonight, he would probably announce me as his.

I had imagined myself on the aisle walking with roses in my hand. Even though I have never witnessed a V’rek wedding before.

And I often wonder if they even get married.

Shoving my thoughts from there, I hastened my feet to the direction towards the location written on the latter.

To my surprise, I was greeted by the emptiness of Brook.

At first I tried my best not to panic with thoughts that he usually delays like this.

What rang in my head was that he was probably busy with official duties.

Arkan is always a busy man and I often use that to tease him. Afterall he is a busy man and I often tease him for that.

I decided to wait, playing with the water using my magic and beguiling.

However, I suddenly seized when I heard footsteps behind me.

I was tense though. But let out a smile with the thought that it was Arkan.

However, I couldn't feel his presence. And the one footstep was replaced by multiple foot stomps.

It got me curious and hypersensitive, becoming aware of everything around me.

I folded my fist ready to engage if perhaps danger was locking by.

Quickly, I rolled my face to see who it was. But, to my greatest surprise, I met my doom.

I was surrounded by soldiers, and amongst them was a high lord. One who looks familiar.

However, I shoved familiarity and swivel my hands to create an electrifying ball.

He was the first I attempted to hit. But he countered it.

All he had to do to get me on the ground was to sway his hand and a whirlwind blew me into the Brook.

Accidentally, I slammed my head on a stone and felt dizzy, nauseated and weak.
