The Angel's Trap
Keira's Pov
"I can assure you that there is no need for questioning every servant. I will get you the exact person that was working with the witch," angel Fenris assures whilst picking up a piece of the cake that Garren made for me.
"You have only today to try your tricks. Once you fail we will get rid of every servant except those that we deeply trust," Garren states.
"No problem," Fenris confidently responds. "I am perfectly capable of fixing this entire problem for you all."
A young female servant enters the room and bows. "You summoned me, your majesty," she says to angel Fenris.
"I need a specific rumour spread. Can you do that for me?" he asks.
The lady smiles, seemingly excited. "It would be my honor to do so, sir," she bows again.
If I didn't know better I would say she is flirting with him. But I am guessing she just likes the task being handed to her.
"Tell everyone that the witch left a message for her loyal servant. That beneath the tree where day meets night, a message waits, bathed in sunlight's plight," Fenris orders.
Everyone raises their eyebrows. What on earth does that even mean?
"Is that a saying?" Conrad asks.
"One with a secret message. There is a tree in the backyard whose leaves shimmers blighty during sunset. Arina used to sit by it at evening. Her friend will understand my words and think that the witch left a message at the tree for them to find. All we have to do is leave a fake letter by the tree, whoever comes for it will definitely be our traitor," Fenris explains.
It's a brilliant plan, a lot better than I was expecting from him.
"That is incredibly wise, your majesty. I will spread the-" the excited servant praises but the angel cuts her short.
"Do not tell your fellows anything else apart from the saying. Do you understand?" he orders in a strict tone.
"Of course, your majesty. I will make sure everyone hears of it," she swears, bows and leaves in a hurry.
"You will indeed catch our traitor without bothering everyone else. Did you think of that plan on your own?" Garren questions.
"Of course I did. Who else could have helped whilst Keira was asleep?" his brother replies teasingly.
"How did you know who to task with spreading the rumour?" Conrad asks.
"The woman I sent, Sophia, has a talent and unstoppable desire to tell. I call her anytime I want to know any new rumours going around. She was the perfect choice for the task," Fenris answers.
Sounds like he gossips a lot to be aware of all that. Still, the plan is great.
"I will go see my father and friends now," I say, getting off the bed.
I stumble a little and Angel Garren catches me.
"You're not well enough to be leaving the bed," he says.
"I am perfectly fine." I stand more upright.
He wraps his hand around my waist and kisses me. "Your father is okay. I will ask him to come here," he offers after ending the kiss.
"My father shouldn't tire himself after sleeping on a cold floor for days. I am definitely feeling better than he is," I say and carry on to leave the room.
I meet Margaret a few metres down the hallway. She appears angry at first but smiles after seeing me.
"I was coming to see you. I got so worried after hearing what those jerks did to you," she says while hugging me.
I hug her back. "My husbands were under a heavy spell. It made them believe that the witch was me," I explain.
"Surely you do not believe that, do you? They literally locked us and your father in a filthy cell. Did they not recognise who we were too?" she argues.
"The witch asked them to imprison you. They had doubt but couldn't go against my wishes," I try to make her understand. "I am extremely sorry. The angel kings are too."
She shakes her head. "I cannot believe you're forgiving them. I used to think you're smart," she huff's before walking away.
I understand her range. She and herate were in a cold cell for days too. Hopefully they will find the heart to forgive my mates with time. I am sure that if Fenris or Garren were able to go back in time and change what happened they woukd have done it already. Hopefully my father isn't equally as furious.
I make my way to the beautiful guest chamber that were given to him. He smiles and hugs me after opening the door. He looks extremely tired though.
"I was so worried about you. Your mates assured me that you were fine and only needed to rest. They did not mention that you were injured," he says, checking my wounded hand.
"It's a tiny wound, there is no need to worry," I assure.
He sighs in relief and lets go of my hand.
He ushers me inside and goes to sit on the edge of the big bed. I follow and sit beside him.
"They told me that they put you in a cell in the basement. I am extremely sorr -" he cuts me short.
"There is no reason to apologise. None of it was your fault. You shouldn't blame your mates either since I saw that their minds were overtaken by a spell. I wonder how those witches could even do that," he says.
"They had someone here at the Palace who provided them with everything they needed."
"Doesn't that mean that you're still not safe here?" he asks in a worried voice. "This unknown person can find a way to harm you. I am taking you back to Silverthorn where you will be safe until your mates are done getting rid of their countless enemies," he firmly adds.
I could take the easy way out. Be away while the angel kings finds and destroys everyone that dreams of harming us. But what if it turns out that they need my help just like before? What if their powers are not enough to conquer our enemy? I do not want to lose them.
"They have set a clever trap for the traitor. If he or she is not caught by tomorrow I will return with you to Silverthorn until they make it safe for us to be here," I tell my father.
