Kid
Before I knew it, I had 4 jeans and a few t-shirts in my hand some were name brands and other where just normal t-shirts that fitted perfectly. When we were done, I was so excited to go to the restaurant. “You think he knows?” I asked Lucifer as we walked to the SUV. “He has no idea Kid, his going to be so happy.” “I really hope so.” “Off course he will Kid you don’t even have to doubt that.” When we got in the SUV Lucifer told Angel to take us to the Empire Steak House in Times Square, I must admit I love New York. I really and truly fell in love this time around. Maybe it’s because Lucifer asked me to marry him here who knows but I will come back as many times as I can. When we stopped in front of the Restaurant Heath was already waiting for us outside.
Heath
I didn’t sleep the whole night, not that I need sleep but I like to take a nap at night, it makes me feel half normal. I was worried I was doing the wrong thing by trying to be in Kid’s life I mean I promised her mother so many years ago and I kept that promise even after their death and even after I killed the vampire responsible for their death. And now here I am in a hotel room in New York waiting for the phone to ring to find out if my own daughter wants me to be a part of her life. Fate is a weird thing. If it wasn’t for Gabriel haunting her and trying to taunt her, she would never have known about me but for some reason she was drawn to the vampires or where they drawn to her that was the other question could they smell she was different? I apologized so many times to Kid’s mother during the night for going against my promise to her but now that she knows about me, I can’t just walk away from her she needs to be able to make the decision if she wanted me a part of her life. When the phone rang early morning, I thought it couldn’t be good news it was to early but when Lucifer invited me to lunch, I was hoping for good news.
I showered and got ready to go to the restaurant Lucifer told me to be at at 12 I must admit I was there at 11 am, I was so nervous but also excited I wanted to hear what Kid had to say and I couldn’t wait any longer. I walked up and down the street just in case Lucifer and Kid was early but when I saw their SUV driving in the direction of the restaurant I went to stand still and wait for them. Lucifer got out ran to the other side of the SUV and let Kid out helping her. He was a real gentleman or was it because of me? I thought. “Heath.” Lucifer came walking towards me greeting me with the hand. “Lucifer.” When he was out of the way Kid stood in front of me “Heath.” She said lifting her arms and throwing them around my neck for a hug. I held her to me, I never thought it would feel so good to have my daughter in my arms. It looks like positive news I thought as we walked in.
Kid
I could see Heath was stressed he was frowning a lot, but after I hugged him I could see him physically relax. Lucifer was walking in front and got our table I should have known it would be a secluded table Lucifer liked his privacy. He pulled the chair out for me and waited for me to sit before he took his seat next to me and Heath across from me. Lucifer immediately put his hand on my leg comforting me which I appreciated although this was a very exciting time, I was still nervous to speak to Heath what if he changed his mind during the night or what if he doesn’t want to work for us or stay with us, what will we do then? I had so many questions. The waiter came and Lucifer ordered me a soda and a bottle of their best red wine. “Aren’t you drinking?” Heath asked as the soda was put in front of me. “No, I am I’m just thirsty and can’t down a glass of wine.” I said smiling. I was sure he would have known Lucifer drank to much off me last night if I didn’t put so much make up on. He nodded and smiled. Which made me look at Lucifer and smiled at him to because we dodged a bullet.
We all looked through the menu Lucifer asked me “What are you going to eat?” “I’ll have the rib eye but medium to rare please.” That got a frown from Heath but I ignored the frown lots of people eat steak medium rare. “And you Heath?” “What ever you are having?” The waiter came back and Lucifer ordered my steak and two American Wagyu Tomahawk steak’s rare for him and Heath. “Don’t they ask questions when you order a steak rare?” Heath whispered. “Not at all, lots of normal people eat steak rare these days.” “Oh, okay show you how long ago I was in a restaurant, I’d rather make food at home.” Heath said. We all took a sip of wine when I couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“Heath, I want to ask you something?” “Anything.” “I want to know if you changed your mind last night?” I asked, I could feel Lucifer squeezing my leg showing me support. “To be a part of your life?” “Yes.” “No Kid I would love to be a part of your life.” A huge sigh escaped my lips. “Thank God because I want you a part of my life.” Heath was so happy he jumped up and came to me helped me out of my chair and hugged me he didn’t want to let go of me. When the waiter eventually came with our food he let go of me. “I wasn’t sure what you were going to say, but I’m happy it’s this. I’m not sure how happy your mother would have been but I’m ecstatic.” “Me to Heath me to.”
