Chapter 32 Anna

Chapter 32 Anna
Evan gave her an intense look.

“I'm not ready yet. Maybe later in the day,” said Evan. Her new look was a bit funny to Isabella, but Isabella made sure to keep her face as expressionless and unpredictable as ever. Evan couldn't tell what was on her mind.

“It must be early in the morning,” said Isabella, making sure her expression remained unreadable.

Evan sighed in disappointment. Just looking at the waterfall sent chills beneath her skin. Her heart pounded. She could barely blink her eyes given how dry they were. ‘Maybe Isabella is crazy,’ Evan thought to herself. This wasn't child's play. What if she died? She couldn't help but ask herself that question.

As if Isabella was about to read her mind, she said, “Don't worry, dear, you won't die.” With that, she slowly took her hand from Evan's shoulder. Evan felt an urge to run away, but that would be a foolish idea. She only had one hope, and it lay where she was standing: this place. She shut her eyes tightly, trying to summon courage. Isabella watched her closely, and then after a while, Evan opened her eyes.

“Where is the entrance?” asked Evan. Her tone made it clear that she was ready to go in. Isabella was happy to know as well.

“It's good to know you're ready, dear. Just jump into it. It has no entrance.”

“What!? Are you kidd—” Before she could finish her statement, she was already in the air, screaming. “Ahhh!!..” Her body went deep into the great river the waterfall was producing. She was so small that her fall brought out no noticeable splash.

“WOW,” Isabella exclaimed in a mocking tone. Evan had fallen into the water like a dry piece of wood. Minutes passed by without her coming out, and Isabella could only wait patiently. After thirty minutes, a pool of water formed from the bank of the water high to where Isabella stood. It hovered in the air gracefully and then dropped the little one it was carrying. Evan stumbled on the ground. The sandy ground was itching under her skin and as piercing as a blade.

“Ough!” Evan groaned, rolling on the floor, making the sand cover her body like a garment.

“Are you okay?” Isabella asked as she immediately ran towards Evan, bending to the ground. She supported Evan to sit upright. Evan gasped air from her lungs, her heart playing drums in her ears.

“Damnit, what was that?” growled Evan. The words left her mouth very quickly.

Isabella tried to comfort her; she herself knew what was inside there. “It doesn't matter. What matters is that you got out alive and safe,” she said, pulling Evan into a hug. Evan hugged her back.

They both went back to the village. Evan and Isabella went to the wooden mansion while the royal maids made breakfast. Isabella took Evan to the stream behind the mansion for bathing. When they got there, Evan couldn't help but gasp to herself. This village was like a little fairy land; everything in it looked breathtaking.

“Impressive,” she complimented. All manner of flowers grew round the stream, giving it a sweet look. Evan immediately ran into it, seeping her body in it. As the water collided with her skin, the warmth sent comfort to her entire body.

“Wow, so warm,” she said, swinging her hand inside the water and swimming effortlessly.

Isabella stared at her with a wide grin, amazed by the girl's behavior. “Who taught you how to swim? I thought you grew up in the Donovan's mansion.”

Evan halted her moves. “Huh? You're seriously asking that? Have you forgotten I grew up as a maid? I washed clothes inside a stream!” she exclaimed, dipping her entire body into the water.

After a while, Isabella joined her. The bath was warm. Isabella wasn't used to bathing together with someone, but Evan was already used to this by now. This was how she was taught; she rarely took a bath alone. It was always with Mrs. Caviar and the other servants.

When the two were done with their morning bath, they ate breakfast. It was a food that Evan didn't understand, but for some kind of reason, it tasted so delicious.

The day went by, and Evan was introduced to the fighting combat group. Isabella said she should serve there for the time being until they both figured out what would happen next. Days passed; everything seemed to be going smoothly. Months passed as well, and like a blink of an eye, it was already a year, and then two years, and then three. Evan learned how to adapt to her new life and looks. She was no longer the pretty-faced girl but a soldier, fighting for what was important: to protect the village.

White witches had been attacked by black witches thousands of times. The black witches always tried to erase the existence of white witches to selfishly gain the title ‘witch’. The white witches' population decreased greatly due to the consistency in death. When the power chose a queen, she ruled and brought her people to safety away from the black witches. They resided in this village, making sure to protect it until their population increased a bit. So no one could currently find a white witch in the open world; you could only find most of them in churches, but in disguise, acting as a priest or a pastor or any leader position of the church.

Just like that, a total of six years was gone. Evan was now one of the strongest combat members. Most of the villagers' hopes relied on her. She had killed many witches and found a more convenient way to protect the village and destroy whoever dared step foot here. Evan changed her name to Anna, strong and capable.

In the main city of Greenwave, the duke of the land got a message about six villages being burnt down. According to the investigation, it wasn't a black witch; it was something more dangerous. The council officials were still trying to predict what it was.

“Impossible. We need to act before this gets to the cities,” said Lord Raphael, gritting his teeth.

“I heard of a girl who is good at this kind of thing. She is a white witch, and her name is Anna, I think,” one of the councilmen said.
