Chapter 33 Anna

Chapter 33 Anna
“Do any still exist?” asked Lord Raphael. “I’ve never heard about a white witch for about two decades now. Or have you heard anything, Zeke?” asked the Lord as he turned to Ezekiel, who was sitting at the other end of the office. He leaned his back lazily in the arms of the chair, his expression showing no interest in what they were saying. Seeing Lord Raphael looking in his direction, he lifted one of his eyebrows.

“Zeke, are you listening to what I'm saying? Wha…”
“Of course I am. I just didn’t catch what you said,” said Ezekiel nonchalantly. He shut his eyes as if his eyelids were too heavy. Everyone in the room gazed at him.
“Why are you now making it seem like it's about you? You always do this,” Duke Zeries snapped angrily. He is the second duke of Greenwave City. Ezekiel was the last duke, which means he should have respect for the other three dukes and shouldn’t dare speak to Lord Raphael in such a manner.
“Milord, you're giving him freedom to insult you! He doesn’t deserve to be here just because his father was the late lord of Greenwave,” Duke Zeries added. He so much hated this Ezekiel. Ezekiel was not only the last duke but also the youngest of them all.
“I am hungry,” Ezekiel blurted out sluggishly, making Duke Zeries send him a hard glare.

No one was surprised about his attitude. After all, he was always this way, and it worsened when the servant girl disappeared. No one could tell that story or how she escaped. Some suspect that she was a ghost.
“The servant girl that disappeared six years ago without any trace. Don’t you think this is one of her kind that burnt down those villages?” the second duke spoke. He was the eldest among the four dukes.
Hearing about Evan’s disappearance sent a sharp blade into Duke Ezekiel’s heart.
“How are you so sure? My pet was clearly a human,” he declared, making it known to them he would explode if he heard another word from anyone’s mouth.

All official councilmen had to keep quiet. They knew the kind of monster Ezekiel is, especially in things that matter to him.
“Guys, calm down, haha. This can be resolved if we all stick together,” Lord Raphael said. He always loved peace, but no one knew his motives except for Ezekiel, of course. Apart from Ezekiel and Duke Zeries, he is one of the youngest councilmen. Handsome and charming, Lord Raphael never got married, only bringing multiple women to his bed. He is very good at deceiving people with words, especially the women. Ezekiel knew he is a deception from the abyss of hell.
“Yes, milord, I agree with you,” Ezekiel said with a tone almost too nice for someone like him. “Let’s not fight. Let’s stick together so we can figure this out and I can grab some food,” he added, sitting upright.

“That’s my boy, you’re just like me!” Lord Raphael complimented, making a little frown form on Ezekiel’s face. If someone who hasn’t known this man heeded his words, that person wouldn’t live for long. Luckily for Ezekiel, he was never moved by words since he was a kid. Rather, it disgusted him.
“What’s the plan?” Lord Raphael asked. He knew Ezekiel always had a solution to every problem. He was so intelligent that all the councilmen envied him for that. No one knows where his smartness came from.

“Not much, but…” he started. “We don’t know who these things are. And I know white witches must definitely know.”
“What if they don’t know?” asked Zeries, irritated that Ezekiel always gets praises from Lord Raphael.
“Let him continue!” Lord Raphael bellowed.
Sending Zeries a glare, Ezekiel sighed, letting it go. He then continued.
“If white witches still exist, it’ll be very difficult to find one. I volunteer to find a white witch,” he said, his words calm as the flowing stream.
“Not any white witch. There is a girl named Anna. She is powerful and strong. She possessed a power much greater than the witch queen,” the councilman who earlier informed Lord Raphael said.
“A girl? A girl who possessed a power like a witch queen?” Witch queens are the most powerful witches. Hearing that there’s a girl whose power could be compared to a witch queen was strange.
“Are you sure she’s a witch queen or a princess? Is her hair silver in color?” Ezekiel asked, still in disbelief. He truly wanted to confirm.

“No, Master Ezekiel. Her hair is brown in color. And she isn’t as beautiful as a witch queen.”
“Who cares about the beauty?” Ezekiel snapped at him. “Is she even a witch? How did you know about this information?”
“I saw her once. And also heard a rumour,” the man replied calmly.
“Hmm, how come I don’t know about this?” Ezekiel deadpanned.
“Much you know about everything? He is just trying to explain what you clearly have no idea,” Zeries said. He is one of Ezekiel’s haters. When he learnt that Ezekiel was using a servant girl as what is called a ‘pet’, he didn’t fail to mock Zeke.
Any conversation Zeke started, Zeries would make sure he brought up the girl just to mock him.
“I’ll find this girl, whoever she is and wherever she’s hiding!” Zeries volunteered.

One corner of Ezekiel’s lips lifted up. “You know she won’t be that easy to find. Let me help,” he mocked. He knew Zeries has a lot of pride, and Zeke already knew the final outcome.
“What do you think of yourself, Duke Ezekiel?” Zeries sneered. He glared at Zeke with fury.
“It is settled. Zeries will find the girl who will help us put an end to this. For the meantime, we councilmen will find out who is behind this and also find a temporary solution,” Lord Raphael announced the final verdict. “You may leave my office.” Everyone made their way to the door, but of course Ezekiel leaned his back on the chair. He looked like he wasn’t going to leave anytime soon.

“You said you were hungry. Go grab some food.”
“This matter can’t be overlooked. Let me do a private investigation,” he said, crossing both his legs.
“Of course, Zeke. You and I both know Zeries can do nothing.”
Ezekiel couldn’t stop wondering who that girl is. His thoughts absorbed by her, and he would make sure to trace her.
