Chapter 30 Your majesty
Evan’s heart skipped many beats. She heard the door slam hard, making the windows tremble from the impact. She blinked multiple times, trying to predict Isabella’s motives. Most of all, she was checking if she had wronged Isabella in any way. She sat upright, leaning her back against the arms of the chair. She let out a sigh.
“What are you waiting for? Come on out.” The door swung open with Isabella’s head popping out.
“Coming,” Evan mumbled lazily. Her looks never mattered. All she cared about was that Isabella wasn’t angry at her. She really didn’t want any trouble. All Evan wanted was sadness and peace. To unite with people and make sure she held no grudge against anyone.
She got off the bed, putting on her flat low-heel shoes. Stepping out of the sitting room into the world of Springville, the air was peaceful, exuding a calm facade as if this was its own heaven.
“So peaceful.” The unity in the environment couldn’t be ignored. It was as if she was suddenly inside an unreal fantasy. She couldn’t help but gasp. As she moved forward away from the wooden house, she saw many people. They were not dressed like normal humans.
To Evan, they were dressed like fairies. Their garments were all long and decent with a deep blue color. They were all dressed in cloaks. The cloak had a high collar neck hiding their elegant skin. They looked like angels. Of course, curious Evan wanted to shoot her question to Isabella. Seeing that Isabella was ahead of her, she had to run, lifting her dress so it wouldn’t be an obstacle.
Reaching where Isabella was, her heart was racing from the running. It was as if Isabella was so fast that Evan needed to run to keep up with her.
“Wait! Why are you so fast?” asked Evan, still walk-running. Her breathing was harsh as it escaped her throat.
“I’m not fast. It’s just that you’re too slow,” replied Isabella. She said it as if she were a mama hen scolding her baby. Evan pouted, still jumping to keep up.
“I might fall,” said Evan. She bit her button lips hard.
“It doesn’t matter, dear.” The Isabella that was laughing a while ago was now wearing a calm facade. Evan’s heart skipped a beat remembering how ugly she looked. She subconsciously stopped, caressing her jawline with her fingers. Isabella stopped, turning back and wondering why Evan had paused, only to see the girl deep in thought about her looks.
“What do you think? Death or ugliness?” she asked, smiling sarcastically as if she had ulterior motives. In truth, it was all just an act to annoy Evan more. Surprisingly, Evan ignored her and shifted her attention to the lilies at her feet. The ground was covered with nameless flowers. Evan couldn’t guess where all this came from. Running ahead with curiosity, she succeeded in catching up with Isabella.
“Oh, slow down,” she breathed out, her legs slowing. “Where am I?” The question escaped her mouth, making Isabella halt.
Turning her shoulders, she sent Evan daggers with her silver elegant eyes, and Evan herself seemed to feel a chill down her spine.
“Huh?” asked Evan subconsciously. She blinked her eyes. Isabella shook her head, continuing to walk while Evan had no other choice but to trail behind.
“Your Majesty,” came a voice. Hearing “Majesty,” Evan stopped, looking back over her shoulder. She saw the girl Isabella had called Rose yesterday. Her mind quickly formed a stupid fantasy, thinking that the girl was calling her that because her new looks were captivating. A smile formed within, and one corner of her lips lifted into a victorious smile.
“Dear—”
“Rose, any updates?” Isabella cut in before Evan could reply, making the smile on Evan’s face fall as if it had never been there.
Evan’s eyes widened. Isabella was even scared they might pop out of their sockets.
“No, Master. No black witch so far,” replied Rose, her head down to her feet.
“You may go. I am just taking our new combat member to her quarters,” said Isabella, watching Rose bow and leave.
She spun around, still seeing Evan’s eyes wide.
“What is your problem? Have you forgotten you have big eyes now?” Hearing that, Evan’s eyes automatically slammed shut. She blinked them open again, making Isabella laugh out loud.
“You’re so funny.”
Evan’s mood lightened just by seeing Isabella smile.
“Are you angry at me?” Evan threw out the unexpected question. She always did. She was fidgeting with her fingers as she waited patiently for an answer as if waiting for a verdict. Seeing the girl’s nervousness, Isabella slapped her mouth shut.
Taking out her hand, she shook her head in disbelief.
“Why would I be? You did nothing wrong.” Evan wouldn’t be comfortable if she found out someone was holding a grudge against her. Isabella walked up to her, gently placing her hand on the girl’s shoulder.
“You and I are friends. Okay?” Evan immediately nodded without hesitation.
“I don’t hate you or anyone. Stop being so sensitive and dramatic. Follow me—you need to start training.” Taking her hand from Evan’s shoulder, she walked away, and of course, Evan trailed after her like a baby hen.
…
They arrived at a particular place surrounded by bamboo trees, all green like a green pasture.
“This is where you’ll train,” said Isabella. Evan gave her an intense look but didn’t say anything. Moments passed, and they both stood staring at the green bamboos.
“You’re the only one who has silver hair. So I guess you’re the queen,” Evan broke the silence.
“When it chose me, many witches left the palace. They said I am too young to become queen. But I have to live with it. Now the royal maids are all of my age.” Evan nodded as if understanding who the rulers of this village were and why Rose was a royal servant. Teens can be a savant or a slave, but it's rare for a teen to be a servant serving a royal family.
