Chapter 29 BAHAHA
"What rubbish are you suddenly saying? You're human. I am the one who is supposed to tell you if you're a human or something else,” Isabella blurted furiously. She wanted to pinch Evan so she could believe reality.
Evan sighed, her knees still on the ground. Her heart was racing.
“You don't want to believe me?”said Evan with a frail voice.
“Show me evidence.Don't claim to be something you're not in the first place.” Isabella's eyes held something unreadable. Her lips set in a thin line. Her silver eyes fixed on Evan, her forehead knitted together in annoyance.
“Isn't my wounds' disappearance evidence enough?” came the chilling question. And yes, Evan was totally right. Her wounds' disappearance was a mystery. That was where the real suspicion should be concentrated. Isabella was dumbstruck, not knowing what to do…
“Sit,your knees will hurt,” she instructed. Evan's body was shaking, including her heart.
She slowly got up using the help of the table that was just nearby. She sat on her chair, giving Isabella an intense look.
After she was comfortably seated,
“Any news about the man you said was my brother?”asked Evan, waiting for a positive answer from Isabella, who was now quiet as if she had just lost something.
“Yes,”she replied. Her gaze fixed on the burning candlelight.
“Please tell me.”
“It's too complicated,”Isabella replied. She refused to meet Evan's eyes. ‘Complicated?’ Evan asked inwardly. As if Isabella could read her mind…
“He can't possibly be your brother given his background,”said Isabella. She was a bit pleased by the way she said it.
But Evan's curiosity can't be quenched so easily.
“Background?What background?”
“He is rich.”
“That doesn't matter…”
“...he is a vampire…a pureblooded vampire at that.”
Evan was flabbergasted for a while.Hazel eyes frozen like ice. Unblinking.
“V-vampire?Huh?” Her eyes went wide as if they were about to pop out from their sockets. Her mouth hung open.
“Unfortunately, yes. I know how much you hate vampires.”
“Huh?I never said that!”
Evan finally moved her frozen lips. “It's a good thing he isn't a witch,” said Evan, placing her head on the table with a wide grin on her lips. Many imaginations spun around her head. Upon raising her head up and meeting Isabella's eyes, she saw the girl glaring at her with unbreakable fury. Her gaze carried a chilling aura. “Huh!!! Why are you this angry?” asked Evan, unbothered about the question asked by her. Humming a song Mrs. Caviar always sang, she slid her hand into a basket. And according to her side of the story, the apple was said to be the most beautiful apple in the basket.
She brought it up to her face, smiling widely at it. “Beauty, beauty. You're as beautiful as Isabella,” she said, gently taking a bite from it. Her grip on the apple was loose and her teeth on it were too gentle, irritating Isabella.
Realizing what she had done, she immediately said,
“I don't mean a witch,I mean it's good he isn't a black witch,” her voice sounding pleading. Seeing Isabella's expression devolve, a wide smile formed on her puffy lips.
“You should get some sleep. Come with me, let's go to the royal room,” said Isabella, getting up from her chair and, without waiting for Evan, left the room.
“Huh?”The door slammed, leaving Evan dumbstruck.
“Wait, wait, wait!!” Instead of running quickly, she carried the whole basket of fruits with her.
“Isabella!!Don't go!”
…
The place was silent as if no one was living or abiding here.No need to carry any candles with them, thanks to Isabella's silver hair that glowed brighter than the moonlight. They got to a building that was tall and massive. Well designed, it was like a two-story building, cozy little but beautiful. Evan loved the peaceful aura this place was emitting. She felt as if this was home. Isabella opened the door, getting into the wooden house. Evan trailed behind. The house was beautiful as expected. Cozy.
Everywhere was perfectly lighted with candles, making it glow like daylight. Evan immediately went for one of the armchairs, the one closest to her, and slumped on it lazily.
“I feel sleepy!”came her words subconsciously.
“Pfft, at least let me show you to your room.” Before she could end her statement, the girl on the sofa had already drifted to sleep. Shaking her head disbelievingly, she went upstairs.
…
The lilies'whispers woke Evan from her deep slumber. She sat upright, unlike her usual behavior of yawning and rubbing her eyes. This time she only blinked. Her mind instantly went to what she told Isabella last night: the disappearance of her wounds. She noticed Isabella paid deaf ears to it. She expected Isabella to freak out or shove her away. But there was something in her eyes, and Evan couldn't tell what it was yesterday.
She was so calm,as if they were talking about the sun intending to shine by day.
Thinking about the sun,Evan looked outside, eyes widened. “Wha? Am I still in Greenwave City? Why is it so bright?”
“Yes, this is still Greenwave. It's because this village is the Unity Spring Ville,” Isabella informed as she descended the stairs.
Evan suddenly burst into chilling laughter after hearing that.“Mhahah, Ahahaha!” It was enough to irritate Isabella, making her hold her steps. Isabella bit down on her button lips, wondering why the girl was laughing like a goat.
If any holdable material was nearby,Isabella would've aimed at Evan's nose for it to bleed. Thinking of what to do that would make Evan's laugh vanish, she continued descending down. When she got to where Evan was, she stretched her hand and a mirror suddenly appeared in front of Evan.
Seeing a magical mirror, Evan stopped laughing and stared into it. A girl with brown hair, wide lips, bulky eyes, and dimly light skin color stared back at her. Seeing the ugly girl in the mirror, Evan gave herself a slap that echoed loudly in the sitting room. The pain was chilling and the impact was enough to send her to the ground. She stumbled into the armchair.
“BAHAHA,HAHAHA HAHAHAHA!!” came Isabella's laugh. She walked majestically to where Evan was lying. Looking down at her.
“At least that look is better than dying.”
