Chapter 128 128
Chapter 128 128
Kimberly's POV
I would not want to be in her shoes at the moment because the way he was looking at her was screaming murder.
“Did you by any chance forget your bird brain at home?” His voice cut through the silence, and it was icy that I almost shivered.
“What?” She gasped in shock.
“You heard me. What do you think that piece of information is supposed to do?” He asked her, and then she started to stumble over her words like an idiot.
It was finally good to see her keep quiet like the idiot she actually was.
London used that opportunity to grab my hand and drag me out of the class. I started to say something, but he was not hearing it since he had already done what he had in mind to do.
I was outside already when I finally leaned back on my heels and forced him to let go of me.
“What are you doing?” I asked him, eyes wide, and annoyed that he would do that.
“You did not look comfortable there.” He said, and I scoffed.
“And what makes you feel like I would be comfortable with you?” I asked him in disbelief. “After everything you've done. You have made sure that my life is hell in this school since I showed up. You did it personally, and you even set people up to do it. You've gotten me into a lot of trouble and made me feel like a stupid person. Why do you feel like I'm comfortable with you? I mean, I'm comfortable everywhere else except when I'm around you. Stay away from me, London.” I said and patted myself on the back for not allowing my voice to wobble and show the emotions that I was feeling inside of me.
He had this plain and blank expression on his face. It was as though he was trying to determine what to say next to me and nothing was coming to him.
“Fuck you, London.” I snapped and brushed past him angrily. I had not walked a few steps when he pulled me back with my arm. I struggled with him for a while, but he was stronger and pulled me into a less crowded hallway when he noticed that people were staring, which I did too, but I did not care.
“What do you want?!” I snapped angrily at him, maintaining a very good and sensible distance away from him.
“We need to talk about our engagement.”
And just like that, I felt like I was doused with cold water. Everything felt too sharp. My emotions were running too high. I felt tears sting the back of my eyes, and they started to well up. I knew I would break down very soon. So, I looked everywhere but at him as I said,
“There is nothing to talk about. It's been decided.” My voice strung out
“Well, I don't want it. I'm sure you don't want me either. You don't want to be stuck married to me for the rest of your life when our affections lie with different people. Besides, we're still too young to think about getting married. We can always talk to our parents about it and put an end to it.” He said.
“Well, I've spoken to my parents, and it seems that's the only way anything can be settled at the moment. Your father is the main issue here. I'm sure my parents don't want me with you, talk less of me. I don't want you. But I'll do anything for them. And your father is the one adamant and requesting it.” I rushed out, swallowing the lump in my throat.
He was quiet for a while. “I'll speak to my father again. But don't think by any chance that you will be marrying me.” He said with a hint of malice in his voice.
“If you were the last man on earth, I would not want to marry you.” Something moved in his eyes, but before he spoke, a very familiar voice spoke up, and I froze
“What did you just say?” The way he sounded, very low and deadly, sent shivers up my spine. I turned slowly and made eye contact with him for the first time in over a week.
“I didn't know that you go around listening in on other people's conversations. What's that called again? Eavesdropping?” London baited with a smile on his face. But Julian was not having it.
His gaze was focused sharply on me. As if he stopped looking at me, everything would disappear.
“I asked you a question, Kim.”
“It's Kimberly.” I did not know why I fired that back to him immediately. Maybe because I did not want him to play any familiarity card with me. Maybe because my heart ached a little from hearing him call my name after all these days.
But he does not deserve that. He caused me a lot of pain and hurt. He has no right to call me that.
“And whatever this conversation is, it does not concern you. How about you leave?” I asked, folding my arms across my chest, letting my bravado show.
The silence in the hallway was deafening in a kind of way that made me feel like, what's going on here? I wanted to check if there was anyone around, but I could not stop looking at him.
Then I heard a sudden cry behind me. It was London.
“Fuck. What are you doing, you bastard!” He groaned out in pain, grabbing his head. My eyes widened when blood started to flow from his nose.
In a few seconds, his shirt was soaked with blood from his nose. I did not know what to do.
“Hey…what's going on….?” I asked cluelessly.
“I…it's Julian. He's doing… t..this,” he stammered out. My head shivered towards Julian, and his gaze was focused on London in a sick way that made me feel insecure.
“What are you doing?! Let's get him help!” I shouted, but there was no reaction from him. Just the way he was looking at London and then a murderous energy that was emanating from him.
He looked scary then.
I could feel fear seep into my body looking at him. I couldn't make any sense of what was going on right now, but I knew it was nothing ordinary.
