Chapter 71 A New Start.
I woke up slowly, the kind of slow that only came after a night that felt unreal. It felt like a dream you didn’t want to rush out of. For a moment, I stayed still, my body wrapped in warm sheets that smelled faintly of Domenic. His scent lingered everywhere, dark and comforting and I felt completely safe.
But when I shifted slightly and reached out, my hand met nothing but cool sheets. My eyes fluttered open only to find the space beside me was empty.
I pushed myself up on my elbows and scanned the room, half-expecting him to come out of the bathroom or something. Instead, my gaze fell on a chair near the window where my clothes sat. They were neatly pressed and folded.
I expected my clothes to be scattered all over the place after the rough and passionate sex we had last night, but it seems as if he’d handled my clothes with great care.
A smile tugged at my lips as I remembered what happened last night. Domenic was rough and merciless. He showed me just how much he had been aching and desiring for me. All doubts that he may be lying about his feelings for me flew out the window when he showed me just how much he wanted me.
I couldn't help but feel giddy as more memories from last night rushed back to me. I remembered the way he looked at me like I was the only thing that mattered in his entire immortal existence. He was rough, but I also noticed how he touched me softly and carefully like I was something that might break if he was too rough.
Even my vagina still felt sore from last night. We went at it for hours and when I cummed for the tenth time after Domenic bit me, I collapse from exhaustion and fell asleep almost instantly.
Last night had really happened. Its not all about the sex though. There was also the fact that Domenic told me he loved me and asked me to be his girlfriend and of course I accepted.
Fuck! I can't believe Domenic Darkshadow is my boyfriend now.
I squealed in bed trying not to be too loud. I know there are a lot of maids and guards in this house and I don't want them thinking ive finally lost it. But when I remembered the way he said he loved me; no hesitation, pure honestly, in a way that still made my chest tighten, I just can't help but feel so happy and giddy.
I pressed a hand to my heart, feeling it race so fast like it was about to burst out of my chest.
I am Domenic Darkshadow's girlfriend. The words still didn’t feel real.
Me, Kate, the human girl who somehow stumbled into a world of vampires, who Domenic swore never to love. I never thought I'll ever capture his heart. Domenic was a man who once swore love was a weakness he would never allow himself, and yet now he's mine.
I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood, stretching slightly before grabbing my clothes and going towards the direction I guessed was the bathroom.
I took a quick bath, letting the water wash over me as I hummed to myself in happiness. Last night is probably one of the best days of my life.
When I dressed and stepped out, excitement buzzed through me. I couldn’t wait to see him. The thought of finding him downstairs, doing something ridiculously powerful and intimidating while somehow still being completely mine, sent butterflies rioting in my stomach.
As I made my way out of the room and down the stairs, the familiar scent of home cooked food reached my nostril and made my mouth water. I didn't eat much last night because of the excitement of the night and I am really hungry.
I followed the smell into the kitchen, slowing when I heard voices. It wasn't hard to recognize the voices. It was Domenic and Lysander, but what were they doing in the kitchen when Domenic obviously has maids.
I stopped just outside the doorway, not meaning to eavesdrop, but the words reached me before I could move. "So, she’s really your mate now?” Lysander asked hopefully. I'm guessing by mate, he means girlfriend.
“Yes,” Domenic replied without hesitation. There was pride in his voice. “I made her completely mine last night. Now anyone who would ever dare to lay a hand on her, will have to go through me first."
My breath caught in my throught abd I felt butterflies in my stomach. It makes me wet when he says things like that.
Lysander sighed. "I guess it was meant to happen anyway. Kate loved you from the very beginning and I'm sure it will make her happy to finally have you. I'm happy for you both."
“Thank you Lysander." Domenic said gratefully. "I feel like you're the only one who truly understands me."
"I was born to serve you your highness. I'll always have your back, but I must also remind you that Giron hasn't given up."
I almost groan in annoyance. I can't believe I completely forgot about that old vampire creep.
Silence stretched, but then Domenic replied. “I love Kate. And I’ll do anything to keep her safe. If Giron tries to harm her again, I'll kill him. I have already lost the throne, so there's nothing for me to fear."
Oh my lord! I think I hit the jackpot with this guy! Although it still made me sad that he lost his right to the throne for me, but if he's happy, then I'm happy too.
They changed the topic and I decided it was time for me to go in. I couldn’t walk in there looking like I’d just heard everything. So I straightened, lifted my chin, and put on a smile. Then I stepped into the kitchen.
“Good morning,” I said brightly but stopped in my tracks when I saw what Domenic was doing. He was standing right there at the kitchen island with an apron on, chopping green vegetables.
Lysander turned first, smiling politely. Even though it was really early, he was dressed formally in a button up shirt tucked into his pants and silky shoes. His hair was tied up as usual without a single strand out of place and I noticed his red eyes which means he wasn't wearing contacts.
“Good morning, Kate.” He greeted back with a smile.
Domenic turned, and the sight of him took my breath away. His black hair was unusually messy and his green eyes were sparkling. He was looking at me softly, the same look that always made my heart melt.
For a moment, we just stared at me, like we were seeing each other for the first time all over again.
Before I could say another word, he crossed the room towards me and pulled me into his arms. I laughed softly as he kissed me gently.
I melted against him, wrapping my arms around his neck as I kissed him back passionately.
Someone cleared their throat when our kiss was starting to get heated. Lysander suddenly found the floor very interesting.
Domenic pulled back just enough to look at me, his thumb brushing my cheek. “Good morning Kitty. How was your night?”
Heat rushed to my face as memories of last night rushed back to me, but I didn’t look away.
"I enjoyed every bit of it,” I whispered honestly and then leaned in towards his ear and bit his ear lobe seductively, "I can't wait for us to do it again." I whispered into his ears and felt his hold on my waist tightened.
His eyes darkened slightly. "I can make you enjoy more of it every night from now on." My skin lit up at his words and he leaned in again, forehead resting against mine. “I still can’t believe you’re my girlfriend.”
I laughed softly. “Funny. I still can’t believe you’re my boyfriend.”
He kissed me again, slow and affectionate, like we had all the time in the world, and like we didn't have an audience with us in that very moment.
Lysander shifted awkwardly and we pulled away to stare at him. He scratch the back of his neck blushing hard. “I’ll...just excuse myself.”
“No need,” Domenic said easily. “We’re heading to the dining room anyway. As you can see, my food is ready.”
I frowned at him looking down at his apron, "you can cook?"
He grinned at me, lacing his fingers with mine, "I am talented at many things."
I still found it hard to believe. How can he cook when he's a vampire? They don't eat food!
I didn't question him though, and instead, I allowed him to pull me away from the kitchen towards the dining room.
I couldn't help but wonder if he was the one who cooked that food we ate yesterday.
At the dining table, Domenic was unbearable in the best way. He fed me like I was a little kid and watched me eat like it was the most fascinating thing he’d ever seen, brushing crumbs from my lips with careful fingers.
Lysander sat across from us, blushing like he’d rather be anywhere else. I wonder why he's here anyway. He can't even eat.
"Why did you cook so much food if you guys can't even eat?" I asked Domenic.
He shrugged. "I cooked all your favorite dishes."
"I can't finish all of these." I deadpan.
"You're not obliged too."
I shook my head and looked towards Lysander who looks so awkward right now. Trying to save him, I threw my attention to him. “So… how was your ride with Quinn yesterday? She didn’t bother you too much, did she?”
He hesitated for a moment and I wondered is that was a good thing or a bad thing. “She talks a lot and too fast for me to understand sometimes, but she's sweet and nice.”
I smiled to myself. That definitely sounds a lot like Quinn. And, did Lysander just say she's sweet?
Oh, Quinn, You’re going to love this.
After breakfast, Domenic pulled me back upstairs to the room we had sex last night. “You can’t wear yesterday’s clothes to school kitty. People are going to wonder." Hand in hand, he lead me into his walk in closet that looks like a male boutique. Domenic had clothes of all kind, ranging from professional to casual.
He handed me one of his huge polo shirts, and watched me put in on. I kept blushing but still turned on at the dark look in his eyes as they rake all over my body.
When I finally got dressed in his shirt and my shorts, he nodded his head in approval. "You look gorgeous kitty. You always do." He pulled me into his arms and me again, this time deeper and hungrier.
At this rate, we might not make it to school early.
