Chapter 72 The Ex.
If someone had told me a weeks ago that I would be sitting in the same class beside Domenic Darkshadow, Mafia lord and vampire prince, holding hands like it was the most normal thing in the world, I would have laughed in their face.
Yet here I was.
Of course we arrived at school an hour late because Domenic didn't want to leave my side even for a moment. At the end, Lysander ended up leaving us because he couldn't afford to be late. The teacher could not scold either of us because, apparently my cute loving boyfriend is dangerous and no one wants to get on his bad side.
The classroom felt smaller than usual, like the air itself was aware of us. I could feel eyes flicking in our direction every few seconds curious and envious. Finally, Domenic is mine, so they could all give up on ever trying to get with him.
And Domenic couldn't make it more obvious that we were now properly dating. He was always beside me, holding my hand and glaring at any guy who made a mistake of looking in my direction. It didn't help that everyone was scared of him.
I should be annoyed at his possessiveness, but I found that I actually loved it.
The teacher was once again busy with explaining whatever he was explaining in class, but Domenic's knee was busy beneath the desk. His knee brushed mine under the desk, deliberate and slow. I stiffened, pretending to focus on the board while my heart started doing ridiculous things in my chest.
I can't believe he wants to play the exact same game he played that day. Which I won of course.
He leaned closer all of a sudden, his lips hovering near my ear causing my heart to pound rapidly in my chest. "You’re distracting,” he murmured softly in a seductive whisper.
I swallowed down my sexual urges. “You’re the one doing the distracting.”
His hand slid onto my thigh beneath the desk, his fingers warm and possessive. I slapped it away instantly, shooting him a warning glare.
Why can't he just let me concentrate in class for once?
“Behave,” I whispered shooting him a hard look. He succeeded in stealing my best friend's seat, although she was still too eager to sit with Lysander, but she made me promise to tell her all about Domenic and me.
A corner of his lips curled into a wicked smile. “I am behaving.” He leaned in again, his voice low enough that only I could hear. "We'll see how well you behave tonight."
Heat rushed through me so fast I thought I might combust. I felt my panties getting sticky and uncomfortable. That was a promise in his tone that made me wet.
“Domenic,” I hissed when his had found my naked thigh setting my body on fire once again. Hechuckled softly, clearly enjoying my reaction. His fingers moved further up my thigh and it was pretty clear where his destination is.
I shifted in my seat as I tried to catch my breath. His fingers touched my clothed vagina and I held back a gasp, but I couldn't stop myself from shivering. I was suddenly very aware of how long the day felt.
I couldn’t wait for school to be over.
Last night replayed in my head and I felt my stomach clench almost painfully.
Fuck! I was beyond turned on.
The bell finally rang, and Domenic pulled his hand away. I exhaled like I’d been holding my breath all day.
Domenic stood immediately, offering me his hand like some dark prince escorting his queen. I took it without hesitation, blushing at the knowing look on his face. He knew that I needed him badly.
As we stepped into the hallway together, whispers followed us. Before we could make it more than a few steps, a familiar voice shrieked my name.
“KATE!” Quinn appeared out of nowhere with Lysander by her side. I even forgot we were supposed to have lunch together. That's what love does to you. She grabbed my arm, pulling me away so fast I barely had time to blink. "We have to talk bitch!'
“Uh...okay!” I laughed at Domenic and Lysander's dumbfounded faces, but I shrugged and Domenic shook his head, already knowing my friend is insane.
She dragged me to the side. Her eyes were wide as she scanned my face like she was looking for some kind of proof.
I rolled my eyes already knowing what she wants to say.
“You and Domenic,” she blurted. “You guys are together right?”
I hesitated, nott because I didn’t want to say it—but because I didn’t trust myself not to grin like an idiot.
“Yes!” I said finally, trying and failing to sound casual.
Quinn screamed. She jumped up and down, clutching my hands. “I KNEW IT! I knew it! I already told everyone that you'll be the biggest fool in history if you hadn't forgave Domenic”
I rolled my eyes with a laugh as she spun me around. “You’re going to dislocate my shoulder Quinn.”
“I don’t care,” she said breathlessly. Of course she doesn't. “My best friend is dating the hottest, scariest man on the planet.” She paused, then smirked. “Also, I'm so glad you’ve officially returned to your senses. Girls were queuing and waiting for you to fuck this up.”
I rolled my eyes again, but I won't deny she's right. "Now,” she continued dramatically, “all that’s left is seducing Lysander so we can go on a double date.”
I bit my lip, smiling to myself. I wanted to tell her how Lysander described her as sweet this morning, but I decided against it. She would get too cocky if I tell her. "Sounds like a plan,” I said instead.
She sighed happily. "This is amazing news. You slept at his house right?" She asked squinting and I nodded which made her squeal again. "The makeup sex must be good. You're literally glowing."
I blushed, "shut up and let's get to the cafeteria already."
"Of course. Your hubby is waiting for you." She teased with a laugh and I blushed harder.
As we turned toward the cafeteria, we froze when we saw who stood there before us.
Jason, my ex stood in the hallway right in front of us looking like a lost puppy. I haven't bothered about him since I returned. I barely even see him around because I was busy with falling more and more with Domenic. I do know that his popularity has died down, because all everyone talks about this days is Domenic.
Jason stepped into our path, eyes fixed on me like he’d been waiting for this opportunity.
“Katie,” he said softly, and I couldn't help but cringe. That's the nickname he used for me when I was still an obsessed moron who worships the ground he walks on.
“I don’t have time for this,” I said coldly, trying to step around him, but he blocked me with pleading eyes.
“Please, I just want to talk to you alone.” he said quickly. “Just… just give me a minute.”
“No,” I replied. “There’s nothing to talk about.”
“Kate,” he insisted, voice cracking. “Please.”
I hesitated. Against my better judgment, I sighed. “Quinn, please give us a minute.”
Her eyes widened. “Absolutely not! He should say what he wants to say right here.”
“Please,” I pleaded. “I’ll be fine.”
She glared at Jason like she wanted to claw his eyes out but finally relented. “One minute, and nothing more." She left reluctantly.
I crossed my arms and glared at him. All I wanted was for this to be over quickly. “What do you want, Jason?”
He licked his lips nervously. “Listen Kate, it took a long time for me to realize this, but I've got to admit. I made a mistake. I shouldn't have broken up with you.”
I didn't mean to burst out laughing at his words, but I couldn't help it. He frowned and I noticed his face turning red, probably out of anger.
“You can't be serious Jason." I said between laughter. “You dumped me in front of the whole school and humiliated me. That doesn't seem like a mistake to me.”
“I know,” he said desperately. “And I regret it. I still love you Kate. Please… come back to me.”
For a moment, I just stared at him. I couldn't believe his guts. I chuckled a bit. "Is this a joke?"
He frowned. “its not Kate. I'm being serious."
I scoffed, "You only want me now because I’ve moved on. You probably can't help seeing one of your exes happy with a guy even hotter and better than you!"
His fist clenched. "That’s not true!”
“Yes, it is!” I snapped. "Stop wasting your time trying to get with me again Jason. I have a better boyfriend now." I stepped past him, but he grabbed my arm in a harsh grip.
Pain shot up my arm, and I struggled against his hold. "Let go,” I said through clenched teeth.
“You still love me,” he insisted. “You’re just using him to make me jealous. Admit Kate. You wanted a reaction from me all along, and I'm only giving it to you!”
I yanked against his grip. “You’re delusional.”
He leaned in, breath hot and desperate. "And you’re a fucking liar!"
“No,” I said firmly. “I don’t love you. I never did, I was just stupid enough to think I did. Domenic is the one I love!”
Jason’s face twisted with anger. "We'll see!" He grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him with the intention of kissing me.
"Let me go Jason!" I yelled moving my face away from his so our lips won't connect.
“Let her go!” Domenic’s voice cut through the hallway like a blade. It was calm, yet deadly.
Jason froze.
“If you value your life,” Domenic continued evenly, “remove your hand from my woman.”
Jason turned, hatred burning in his eyes.
Domenic stood a few feet away, expression unreadable, power radiating off him like a storm. He had his arms in his pocket and was staring at us in utter anger. I feared he would kill Jason for this.
I was happy he's here to save me and I'll admit he looks so hot when he's mad, but I prayed there won't be blood shed.
