Chapter 70 Reconciliation.
I told Domenic to wait outside while I went back in to talk to my mom. I needed to ask her if I was free to go out with Domenic.
Domenic didn't argue. He leaned against his car with that calm patience of his, watching me like I was something precious that might disappear if he blinked too long.
It felt so nice to be looked at by Domenic with so much love. It's the best thing that ever happened to me.
Inside the house, the warm smell of food still lingered in the air. My mom was rinsing dishes at the sink, humming softly to herself like she always did when she was in a good mood. Seeing her relaxed like this made my heart feel light. Ever since I returned from the vampire world, it's the first time I'm seeing my mom looking so free.
She must have been suffering because of my silence.
“Mom,” I called softly.
She turned, drying her hands. “Yes, sweetheart?”
I rubbed my neck awkwardly. “I was wondering… can I go for a stroll with Domenic?”
She lifted one brow slowly. Slowly enough that I immediately felt heat crawl up my neck.
“Just a walk?” she asked in a suggestive tone.
“Yes,” I said too quickly. “Just a walk.”
She studied my face, clearly not buying it. My mother had always been good at reading me.
She raised you dumbass what did you expect?
After a moment, she sighed and replied. “You can go. Just be careful.” I nodded, relief and happiness.
Wait, how come mom never asked me what happened between me and Jason. Why am I even thinking about that now.
"Bye mom."
I turned to go, but then she added, far too casually, “make sure you use protection.”
“Mom!” I groaned as heat flooded to my cheek.
She laughed. “Domenic seems like a nice young man. I trust he wouldn’t take advantage of you.”
I rolled my eyes hard enough to hurt. If only she knew that Domenic Darkshadow wasn’t just some rich, charming man. If only she knew he was a mafia lord, a vampire prince, a being who had lived longer than most human histories, she would definitely lock me up and warn me never to see Domenic again.
But I won't be the one to tell her. She won't believe me anyway.
I kissed her cheek and bid goodbye once again before walking out of the house.
As I stepped outside, my thoughts drifted back to the vampire world. What could be happening now? A part of me feared that Lysander's presence here might have something to do with Domenic rescuing me from Giron's coven.
He had betrayed his own kind to save me from Giron. Lysander’s presence here couldn’t be a coincidence. Something serious must have happened after that night.
And there was Domenic's sister Camille. She had helped him, that meant she had also betrayed her kind because of me, even though she was only helping her brother. I hoped and prayed that they were both safe. That whatever consequences came from Domenic choosing me hadn’t destroyed them.
I made myself a promise then. I would have to ask Lysander what happened back there. I deserved to know.
Domenic straightened when he saw me walking toward him. His smile was soft and real. These days he smiles more often, and I loved it.
“You’re beautiful,” he said simply when I reached him.
My heart fluttered like it always did when he said things like that. He opened the passenger door for me, and I slid inside.
We drove in silence, one of his hands was on the wheel, the other was resting casually near mine.
I didn’t ask where we were going. I trusted him. He has saved me on numerous occasions, there was no reason not to trust him.
When the car finally stopped, I looked up—and my breath caught.
We were at a mansion. A freaking mansion!
The gates were tall, and stone pillars were all over the place. There were perfectly trimmed gardens stretching out like something from a dream. Guards in black suits stood watch, dark glasses on, wires tucked into their ears.
Domenic stepped out and opened my door, holding out his hand. “Welcome to my home kitty.”
I took his hand, still dazed. Of course I should have expected this. He is a prince, a mafia lord. Of course he was rich beyond imagination.
As we walked inside, the men bowed their heads. Staff paused what they were doing. Every movement around him carried respect and fear, but it's more of respect. The power he commanded made my head spin.
Now I truly understood how lucky I was to have a man like him pinning after me.
Inside, the mansion was even more beautiful. The floors were marble and the windows were tall. Chandeliers that caught the light just right. Everything felt timeless and carefully crafted.
He led me to the dining room, and it had been transformed.
Candles glowed softly across a long table dressed in white linen. Fresh flowers filled the air with a gentle scent. Soft music played somewhere unseen, wrapping around us like a whisper.
It was romantic to say the least.
Domenic pulled out a chair for me before taking the seat across from mine. The table was already filled up with delicious food.
This moment reminded me of the times we use to have breakfast at the vampire kingdom. We never truly got along back then. I guess we've come a long way from there.
“This is… incredible,” I said honestly. “No one has ever done something so amazing for me before."
"You're welcome kitty.” He said with a wink.
Domenic didn't really eat anything. He mostly watched me and it made me feel shy. I decided to start a conversation.
"So, how did you become a Mafia lord in the human world?"
He shrugged. "It really just happened. I wanted a place of my own in the human world to escape from the suffocating expectations in the vampire kingdom. I started as a street lord, saved a few people from bad guys and over night I became the most feared man in the city."
I felt a swell of pride. He really wasn't as bad as I thought. “I’m impressed,” I told him. “I never expected you to be a saviour considering how you maltreated me at the palace."
He grinned. "I was just trying to cover up my feelings for you kitty. It was quite obvious wasn't it." He stared at me intensely. "No one ever made me feel the way you made me feel and it scared me. I was scared to give my all to you?"
"Because I was human?"
He nodded, "vampires despise humans. My father got a human maid pregnant. They would have killed her and the baby in her womb if my Father hadn't protest seriously. I bet they still would have killed her if she hadn't died at childbirth."
My heart broke for him. "I'm sorry about your mother Domenic."
"It's fine. My father failed her," his eyes connected with mine and his voice soften. "But I'm not going to fail you Kitty."
My breath stopped and we stared at each other like we were the only ones in the world.
After a moment, Domenic asked, "do you like the meal?"
“Yes,” But what I actually meant was I love it. I loved the effort he put in to make me happy, and I really love the fact that cares and I was ready to forgive him.
I sneak a glance at me to find that he was still looking at me like he couldn't believe I exist. I gulped down with a dry throat. Why is everywhere suddenly so hot?
“What?” I asked, blushing. “Is there something on my face?”
“Yes,” he said softly and added smoothly. “Beauty.” My heart skipped a bit as he continued. "I was a fool you know, I should have realized my feelings for you sooner.”
He stood and came around the table, holding out his hand. I took it, and he pulled me gently to my feet, wrapping his arms around me. Couldn't help but melt into his arms. I was tired of resisting him.
“I’m sorry,” he said again, his voice sincere. “For letting you go. If you give me another chance,” he whispered, “I will love you forever. I'm ready to protect and love you Kate. I would risk my life for you." He kissed my forehead causing my heart to melt in my chest. "I know I've literally told everyone that you're mine, but I wanna make it official by asking you." He looked straight into my eyes and whispered. "Will you be my girlfriend Kate?”
My heart pounded in my chest. I have waited a long time for this moment. I didn't hesitate and I literally screamed. "Yes!”
For a moment, he just stared at me like he couldn’t believe it I agreed so quickly. Then he smiled that gentle smile that made my heart flutter and he pulled me to him and kissed me deep, hungry, full of relief and joy.
The world melted away, but my body flared with flames. I kissed him back and moaned when he tightened his hold on my waist deepening the kiss.
My body reacted to his and I wrapped my arms around him, kissing him hungrily.
Domenic cupped my butt palming them in his large hands and I moaned wantonly against him. His lips transferred to my neck as he placed soft mind blowing kisses against it.
"Domenic," I moaned already feeling my wetness soaking my panties.
"Tell me what you want kitty." He said against my neck, and that husky voice send a shockwave straight to my body. I rocked against him trying to get some kind of relief, but his hold on my waist held me still.
"I want..." I shivered when he licked a path down my neck. "I want you to fuck me Domenic."
"Fuck kitty! That's exactly what I'm going to do." He slapped my butt hard and the ache between my legs increased almost painfully.
I yelped when Domenic suddenly swept me off my feet and into his arms. In a flash we were in a majestic bedroom. Domenic didn't give me a chance to admire the place. His hands and lips were all over me, kissing and touching me softly like he had all the time in ghe world.
All I wanted was for him to fuck me so hard I wouldn't be able to walk straight the next morning. But Domenic took his time peeling off my clothes and worshipping every part of me.
I groaned at his slow pace and held his shoulder pulling him back a little to see the lust in his eyes. "I know you want to make love to me Domenic, and I appreciate that, but right now I want you to be rough with me. I want you to treat me like I'm yours Domenic. Gentleness is the last thing I want from you right now."
His eyes darkened at my words and he growled low in his throat. The next thing I knew, I was flung unto the bed and Domenic had my face harshly pressed against the pillow.
I smiled to myself as my body heated up.
I really fucking miss Domenic Darkshadow.
