Chapter 50 Rescue.
"So the plan is just for you to take your beloved human away from Giron." Camille stated as she offered me a drink when we were both seated in her small worn out living room. It seems a little too poor for a vampire princess, but Camille doesn't seem to care about that.
I picked up the cup and sniffed the content and I almost gagged at the awful smell. "This is animal blood." It wasn't a question.
Camille smiled and took a seat at the table across me. "Yup. Living in the mountains really did me some good. I've finally mastered the act of surviving on animal blood alone."
"Only you would willingly agree to feed on animal blood." I mumbled in distaste and a bit of envy. I could never be selfless like her.
She rolled her eyes still smiling. "You know me brother. I hate hurting humans."
I pushed aside her words and decided to go straight to what's important. "We have to get Kate. What do you plan to do about Giron?"
She twisted her lips and placed a finger to her chin in deep thoughts. "There's only one way to get your human away from Giron."
"Getting married to him?" I asked her with raised brow and she glared at me. Obviously she's never going to give herself to Giron because she hated his guts with a passion, but Camille has always been smart and fearless. No doubt she would find some kind of solution.
She looked at me, looking serious for once. "If Giron won't give her to you peacefully, then we have to take her away from him by force."
"Father already made it clear that he won't go easy on me if the council demands for my head after doing anything to Giron."
"So?" She raised a brow at me, "are you just going to give up on her because of that?"
I eyed her with a bit of anger. "It would benefit you wouldn't it? You would be made the heir if I'm banished or killed right?"
She scoffed, "of course I'll be fucking happy if I become the heir. For one I will definitely put an end to all these maltreatment that the humans are going through, but that's not it. I just want to know if you care enough about that chick to risk your position and your life to get her?"
There is actually no reason for that question because I would do anything to get Kate away from that monster. I have made up my mind to protect her without minding the risk. If I am going to lose my throne for this, so be it!
"I don't care what will happen to me. I'm getting Kate out of there."
She grinned like she was proud of my choice. "That's the spirit brother. Let's go get that human."
I frowned at her with distrust. "Why do you even want to help me?"
She shrugged like the question was very easy to answer. "It's simple. I don't hate you."
Something softened in my dead heart, but I shook it away. I shouldn't go soft on her. I'm only accepting her help because she's the only one who can help me right now. I still hate her, and I definitely don't trust her.
It took a few days before Camille and I finally arrived at Giron's coven. It was annoying to always have Camille with me because she loves making crude jokes and annoying me, but eventually I needed her so I had to endure her presence.
The moon cast an eerie glow over the dark forest leading to his coven, the trees looming like skeletal sentinels as Camille and I crept through the underbrush. We were about to infiltrate Giron's coven. One of the eldest and most important member of the vampire council. We will definitely not escape punishment. Father will be furious, but I must save Kate.
The air was heavy with the scent of decay and something evil that told the story of just how Giron has molested and treated the humans. His cruel reign over them. They were like animals to him, and I feared he must have done the same to Kate.
My fist tightened as determination to save Kate filled my soul. Giron will die by my hands if he hurts her.
Camille followed closely as we moved in the shadows. They were few guards around, but my senses remained on high alert.
"It's unusually clear. A vampire like Giron would have kept a lot of guards around to stop you from snooping in." Camille wondered as she scanned the empty halls. It wasn't even that dark yet, and vampires do not even need sleep. So where is everyone?
"It doesn't matter. We shouldn't waste our time wondering about nonsense. We should get Kate and get out of here!"
As we moved I kept on sniffing the air to catch Kate's scent. Where the hell could Giron have hidden her?
"She's no where close." I mumbled in disappointment.
Camille shook her head. "You know Giron. He keeps his new humans in the dungeon and break then until they succumb to his will. Maybe he kept your human there as well."
Anger took over me as I imagined Kate in a dungeon being tortured by Giron. I swear I will do something bad to him if I find my Kate in a bad condition. He will regret ever taking her away from me.
"How can we find the dungeon?" I asked Camille. I hated having to depend so much on her, but Camille can be unusually smart at times.
She smirked seeing how dependant I was on her. "Follow the scent of blood."
She came in front of me and lead the way and I followed her with my sword firmly in my hand.
I followed her as we made our way towards a narrow corridor. The place was dark and gloomy, but thanks to our supernatural eye sight, we could clearly find our way.
When we got closer, I could now detect Kate's scent, and I pushed Camille out of the way and rushed to the direction where the scent was coming from.
Finally, we reached a cell. The door heavy with iron bars and silver locks. My eyes locked on the figure huddled on the floor. Kate's eyes looked weak and tired like she hasn't slept for days, her clothes were worn and dirty and she had some blistered and bruises all over her skin.
"Kate!" I whispered rushing to her side. I knelt before her and held her to me.
Her eyes fluttered open and a small smile came upon her lips. "I knew you would come for me Domenic. I waited for you."
I nodded in pain seeing her so weak and tired. It's obvious that Giron has been starving her. I'll make sure to gouge out one of his eyes before leaving.
"I'm here Kate. I'm taking you home, home to the human world." I picked her up bridal style and held her in my arms. I'll never let anyone hurt her again. She's mine!
Camille watched us with a smile and I walked past her. Camille followed behind us and headed out of the dungeon. But at the entrance, we found that we have been caught. Waiting for us at the end of the entrance was a bunch of snarling vampires with their fangs out and ready for a fight.
"I knew it wasa trap." Camille said behind me.
I turned and handed Kate to her. She held Kate with a confused look as I faced the guards. "Take Kate out of here. I'll take care of this bastards!" My fangs extended as well as I readied my sword.
"I can do that. You take her!" Camille suggested.
"No, I still have a score to settle with that bastard Giron. He dared to hurt Kate, I can't let him go free without consequences."
She sighed with a roll of her eyes. "I never thought I'll see the day where you would fight so violently for a human. I'll do as you say though, but make sure you cone out of this alive. I am not good at explaining your death to your lover."
"I'll be back for Kate. Go!"
She wasted no time and disappeared from there in a whirlwind. It was just me and them now, and I am ready to destroy them and everyone else involved in hurting Kate.
