Chapter 49 Fight
"Camille, I need your help."
My words were followed with silence, and all that remained was the whisper of the wind around us.
Knowing my sister, I know exactly what she's going to do next. In three, two one...
Camille burst out into a loud laughing fit that echoed all over the place causing my ears to ring with discomfort and my head to ache. I expected no less from her.
Yup, she hasn't changed at all. Still as annoying as ever.
"I'm sorry wait." She said in-between laughter. "You need my help?"
"Yes." I deadpanned.
Her eyes widened like she just realized I wasn't joking. "Hold on, YOU need MY help?!"
I rolled my eyes at her stupidity. Why is she always so slow? "Yes Camille I need your help. Is that so hard to believe?"
She pouted and scratched her neck in thought. "With the nature of our relationship, I would say yes, it is hard to believe that you need my help. Might I remind you that you hate me?" She said with one single brow raised in wonder.
"I still hate you, I just need your help."
Her face fell a little, but she was quick to bring back her mischievous smile. "If you still hate me, then it must mean that whatever you need my help for must not be good for me."
I decided not to waste time going back and forth with her. "I want you to get married to Giron in exchange for a human he stole from me."
"Wait wait wait, hold up!" She snapped raising a hand to stop me from talking. Then she stared at me like I've finally lost my mind. "You want me to get married to that disgusting old fart?!"
I thought about it and realized that she's right. Giron is indeed a lot older than her. He's two hundred years old and Camille is just twenty eight even though she still looks like someone in her teens, just like how Giron looks like someone in his twenties.
"Technically, age is just a number, and Giron doesn't even look old."
She glared at me and snapped. "Then why don't you marry him instead!"
"He's a guy and I'm not gay, moreover he wants you." I deadpanned already tired of her dumbass.
She shook her head rapidly, "no way Domenic, I am not getting married to that disgusting piece of trash because of a..." She paused for a second and squinted at me like she just realized something. "Wait a minute, in exchange for a human? You hate humans!!"
"it's none of your business." I snarled.
She raised a brow and crossed her arms giving me a 'duh' look. "Seriously brother, you're still as stupid as I remembered. If you really want me to help you, you'll have to tell me everything about this human you want to save so desperately."
I heaved a sigh knowing she's right. I came here to ask for help and not to force her to help me. Knowing Camille, she would be so happy to help as long as it involves going against Giron, but knowing the busy body that she is, she would definitely want to pry everything out of me before helping.
"She's someone important to me. I vowed to return her back to the human world, but Giron stole her from me before I could do it. His condition is that you marry him in exchange for Kate."
Her mouth formed into an o shape as she took in my words. Then she smiled, "a human who's important to you, but there was a time when you use to hate humans." She grinned teasingly at me. "Did you fall in love with a human in my absence?"
"Are you going to help me or not?"
Her shoulders slumped and she pouted when she saw that I wasn't going to get any useful information from me. She sighed in disappointment. "I guess I can help you, but," she smirked. "It depends."
I tried not to race forward and punch her in the face. "Depends on what?"
"On how desperately you want to save her. How bad do you want to get your human girl away from Giron?"
My fist clenched around my bow and I answered with vengeance. "So much so that I am willing to kill Giron if it gets to that."
She nodded with a proud smile like she totally approve of whatever I said. She seems a little to happy about the reason for my being here. Maybe she's happy that I want to disappoint father and then father will make her the heir.
But at this point, all that matters to me is rescuing Kate.
"Alright then," she twirled her sword in her hand. "I'll help you, but you have to fight me and win first, then I'll know you're really desperate to save her."
I didn't doubt my strength against her one bit. Kate's blood has made me stronger. All I needed to do is win. I'm not the same weak boy who could never beat her. I dropped my bow and unstrapped the arrows from my back, then I took off my jacket and stared at her with a look filled with determination.
"To make it more interesting, no weapons allowed."
She dropped her weapon with a smile, "with pleasure."
We stood atop the fog-shrouded mountain, my eyes locked on Camille's. She was grinning now as she allowed her fangs to extend, dangerously sharp and pointy.
"Are you ready to prove how much you've trained before now dear brother?"
"Don't call me that!" I growled and launched myself at her. She met me head on, our speed blurring as we clashed in mid-air. The mountain trembled beneath our feet as we fought, our movement a whirlwind of fury.
I focused, my senses on high alert as Camille danced around me, her blows lightning fast. I dodged and weaved, counter attacking with all my might. She was playing with me, toying with me, but I knew better.
The fog swirled around us, shrouding us in a misty veil. I barely registered Camille's next blow before it landed, a stinging slap to my cheek. I snarled, my fangs bared and unleased a flurry of blows.
Camille laughed, her eyes sparkling but I saw a flash of surprise. She hadn't expected me to have become so strong, and of course it's all thanks to Kate's blood. I feel so unstoppable right now.
My sister flew across the mountain, crashing to the ground. I pinned her there, my foot on her chest. She gazed up at me, a look of approval in her green eyes.
"Well played brother," she grinned proudly.
I scoffed and lifted up my life. "I won, so you must help me get Kate."
