Chapter 48 Siblings.
Domenic's POV.
I was going mad. Father was actually serious with his words when he told Giron that he could keep Kate and also told me to give up on her. Give up on Kate? How can I give up on the only person who has ever made me feel something in this stupid world of ours?!
Never! I'll never give up on Kate, so I have made my decision already. I am going to find Camille.
Giron wants her doesn't he? He shouldn't worry. I shall bring her straight to him myself, if that would mean saving Kate. But that won't stop me from cutting off his arms for choosing to go against me.
That evening, I got ready to leave the palace. I got dressed in black fitting pants, a tank top with a leather jacket over it and my bow and arrow strapped over my shoulder.
Camille has left home for years now. It seems like a decade since she left the palace to go live in the mountains. She had this obsession with animal blood. Vampires hated animal blood and no one would willingly choose to drink that when we could have the sweet and refreshing blood of humans, but Camille had always been different.
She hated drinking from humans and making them slaves, but when she suggested drinking animal blood instead of human blood to our father, father rejected the idea without a second thought. Because of this, Camille chose to go to the mountains and learn how to survive on animal blood alone. She claims that she hated hurting innocent humans.
And yet the council still thinks she is fit to be a better ruler than me. She acts like a traitor as well when it comes to the humans, but because she is a full blooded vampire, they can't see it.
After picking up everything I needed for my trip, I walked out of my room only to find Lysander standing there watching me with strict yet sympathetic eyes.
I frowned at him, "are you here to stop me? Did father asked you to?"
He shook his head with a sigh. "No he didn't. He made it clear that he wouldn't stop you from doing anything stupid, but he won't show any mercy when the time to act comes."
I rolled my eyes. At this rate I don't care what he thinks anymore. Whatever he says, I'll still do everything within my power to rescue Kate. He doesn't know that my leaving the palace is to look for my sister Camille, but I am going to keep it that way. If he finds out that she's the one I'm after, he would never let me leave.
I stared at Lysander who was still standing there blocking my path. "If you're not here to stop me, then why are you here?"
He didn't reply for a second, then he answered. "I know whatever you're about to do is dangerous prince Domenic, and I wish I can help you but I can't go against the prince. However, no matter what happens, please bring Kate back here safe and sound. She's an innocent human and doesn't deserve whatever cruel fate Giron has in store for her."
I frowned at him in annoyance as jealousy clouded my senses. Why the fuck is he talking about rescuing Kate? Don't tell me he likes her! Wait a minute, did he have feelings for her even when Kate kissed him to make me mad that time?
Lysander scoffed when he noticed how my expression kept twisting in many different unpleasant expression. "You don't have to worry prince Domenic. I don't have any feelings for Kate. I'm just worried about her as a friend should."
My mind was instantly at peace. Lysander is anything but a liar, and I know he means exactly what he had just said.
"Kate will return. I'll make sure of that." I didn't wait for a reply as I walked away from him. I don't have enough time to waste making small talks. I need to get to Kate. I can feel how much she needed me right now and it makes me feel restless.
I traveled outside the palace in the woods for five days searching for my irritating older sister. I never thought a day would come where I would be the one to go out and look for her of my own free will. Camille and I had never been close. As kids she was witty and playful. She tried on multiple occasions to bond with me, but I have always been cold and envious of her. Therefore we never really bonded.
The shadow monsters were still there lurking around in the woods, and I fought through them like they were nothing but fleas beneath my sword.
Eversince taking Kate's blood, I noticed how powerful I have become. It's strange how I feel like I've become even more powerful than I was before. That's why I feared Giron finding out about what Kate's blood can do. He would surely use her for his own selfish achievements.
Five days of roaming through the dark woods, fighting off shadow monsters and looking for my sister Camille finally paid off. I found the mountain where she has been living for years. It was one of the biggest of the three mountains in the supernatural world. It's called the mountain of the moon goddess.
When the shadow monsters hadn't infiltrated the woods with their numbers and disgusting presence, many different species (children of the moon goddess) came to her mountain to pray. But now what lies here is a broken abandoned hill covered in darkness.
I levitated off the ground and flew higher; thanks to one of my supernatural abilities as a vampire and landed right at the top of the mountain.
Despite the mini darkness, the place was covered in think white fog which prevented me from seeing whatever lies ahead. I squinted my eyes trying hard to find a sign of my sister, or a place where she might live, but unfortunately I couldn't see anything past the fog, not even with my supernatural eyes.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from within the foggy air. I couldn't see a face, but I could see that it is the silhouette of a woman. I frowned and readied my bow and arrow as it came closer. Is that Camille?
"Who are you?" Her light feminine voice confirmed my suspicions. I could still remember that voice that always tried to sound firm, but it ended up coming out nice and soft. Camille was never a harsh vampire, but I hated her because she was better than me.
"Is that you Camille?" I asked cautiously. Even though I knew her voice well, I wasn't ready to trust just anyone. Not when the shadow monsters were everywhere. Who knows, they might even be able to shape shift.
She stepped out some more and I could see her face now which is filled with shock. I haven't seen her in decade, but she hasn't changed at all.
Her flaming red hair seems to have grown longer. It almost touched her butt and it was silk and shiny just as I remembered. She obviously took very good care of it.
Her green eyes like mine sparkled in amusement and surprise, but I didn't miss the smug look on her lips and the mischief in her eyes. She was wearing a leather jumpsuit that hugged her body like a second skin, a gold belt wrapped around her waist and knee high black boots. I found her long silver sword held tightly between her fingers.
"Well well." She mused looking very pleased to see me. "If it isn't my arrogant cold hearted brother. I expected anyone else but you."
I eased my stance and fixed her with a serious look. "Camille, I need your help."
