Chapter 13 I Want To Go Home.
The moment the vampire was ripped off me, I collapsed to the floor in shock. Fear still causing my heart to stutter. I could barely hear the commotion happening in front of me as I tried to recover from the terror that just happened.
"What the hell did you think you are doing Giovanni?! The prince ordered that no one should lay a hand on her!" Lysander's voice thundered through the hallway. He was holding the vampire by the neck suspending him in mid air.
Lysander looked so angry. His red eyes were glowing brightly. I never thought he could be that angry, but right now I could barely pay attention to them. I was still lost in my fear.
A fucking vampire just tried to drain out my blood!
"I_I_I am so sorry Lysander. I was tempted." The vampire Giovanni explained. His voice was shaky and filled with fear, even his eyes no longer held the predatory look it held when he looked at me. He was now in my place, scared.
"Tell that to the prince when he returns tomorrow!" Lysander growled and let go of the vampire. He fell to the floor like a log of wood, but he did not hesitate to crawl forward and grab unto Lysander's foot.
"Mercy Lysander! Please do not tell the prince about this! If you must punish me, punish me yourself! The prince will not let me live!" He pleaded looking like a pathetic dog who already knew his cruel fate.
For a moment I felt a bit sorry for him, but the fear he put me through in that short moment was like poison running through my veins. He literally traumatized me.
"You defied his orders Giovanni and only he will punish you in a way he sees fit!"
Giovanni hissed venomously, the fear on his face was quick to be replaced with anger. He stood up sharply and glared at Lysander, his pleas forgotten. "Why must he punish me because of a mere human slave?! She should not be kept in a room and treated like royalty. A collar should be placed around her neck already so she would know her worth!"
Lysander grabbed him by the top of his shirt snarling into his face. "Slave or not, this human belongs to the prince and you dared to touch what's his. Stay silent and await your fate, you arrogant bastard!" Lysander pushed him away in anger, then he turned to look at me who was still shaking on the floor. Lysander crouched down and stared kindly into my face. "Are you okay Kate?"
His face was kind and his tone gentle, but he's still a vampire like the rest of them. What if one day he realizes that I was nothing but a bag of blood? What if he attacks me and tried to drain my blood like this guy did just now?
Can I trust Lysander? Can I trust him not to hurt me? But he's a vampire!
Lysander stretched out his hand to me, but I flinched and pressed myself against the wall like I was trying to disappear through it. My cheek were still stained with drying tears and I know for sure that I was still shaking in fear.
"I won't hurt you Kate. Give me your hand." Lysander urged gently, but I don't trust him. I can't trust him.
Lysander glared at Giovanni who was still standing there and looking at me in disgust. "Look what you did Giovanni. She now thinks we are all like you!" He turned to me again and spoke in a tone much softer, "please trust me Kate. I won't hurt you, I promise. I've been keeping you company since you got here, I've never once tried to hurt you. Trust me."
I looked deep into his red eyes, unusual but kind. Lysander is right. He has been with me since I got here and hasn't tried to hurt me, not once. He even warned me to be careful and don't leave my room, but I didn't listen and almost got myself killed.
Yes I can trust him. I'll trust him just for now.
Slowly, I took his outstretched hand and he lifted me off the floor. I made sure to stay as close to him as possible and away from Giovanni.
I wonder what would have happened if Lysander hasn't got here on time to save me. This prick would honestly have killed me.
"If indeed you live after the prince finds out what you did, then I must warn you never to do it again, or I might actually kill you myself!" Those were the last words Lysander said to Giovanni. Then he placed his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him as if to protect me from invisible attackers. Together we walked back to my room.
The moment we stepped into the room, I untangled his arm from around me and hurried to towards the window. I wrapped my arms around myself as panic started to kick in.
This feels all too real now! It's scary!
I could still feel Giovanni's fangs grazing my neck. His strong hold on my arm still torments me! The way he covered my mouth to stop me from screaming!
My heart pounded and I felt sick!
I can't stay here! I can't stay in a world filled with vampires who wants nothing but to drain me dry!
I want to go home!
God I want to go home to my mom so bad!
Tears filled my eyes but I tried my best to hold them back from falling.
"You must calm down Kate," Lysander spoke softly behind me. I didn't even know he was still in here.
"How can I calm down!" I almost screamed in frustration! "That guy almost killed me. He tried to suck me dry!" I started pacing the room as I rake my hand through my hair like a mad woman. "You guys are vampires! Bloodsuckers! I'm not safe here! I have to get out of here Lysander!"
"This is the safest place for you Kate. Prince Dominic can protect you. If you go out there, you will be killed by the shadow monsters or worst by other vampires!"
"That guy just tried to kill me Lysander!" I screamed, and I was sure my voice was loud enough to wake up every single person in this palace. "If you haven't been there to save me, I would become nothing but a story to tell. This is just the first attack, I don't know how many more are gonna happen in the future." I stopped pacing and stared into space. The reality of everything was weighing me down. "I have to leave this place. I must!"
Lysander said nothing more but the sad look on his face was enough to convince me that I was right with everything I just said. He could no longer comfort me.
They were monsters and they can't be trusted. None of them!
"I want to be alone Lysander, please leave." I said tiredly as I settled down on my bed.
Lysander doesn't even argue, he only said. "Stay here Kate. You'll be safer here." Then he left.
I had no idea if he meant the palace or my room, but I didn't care. All I did was curl up in a ball and cried myself to sleep.
I just want to go home!
