Chapter 49 Hideout Exposed
Chapter 49 Hideout Exposed
I remember I once asked my mother- and father-in-law to find Egan's house and come over whenever they were tired of being unappreciated by their disobedient son. And hearing that my father-in-law had arrived at my house made me tremble. This is because the father-in-law arrived with his wife's body. Does that mean my mother-in-law has passed away? What really happened while I was gone?
I paced back and forth, waiting for news from Lily, as Lily had gone home with my mother and their guards. To be on the safe side, Damian stayed by my side, along with Collin and John, because they were afraid this was a trap.
"Have there been any calls or messages from Lily yet?" I asked Damian. Damian weakly shook his head in response to my question.
"We should bring my in-laws here. Is that possible?" I asked Damian for his opinion.
"Of course, we'll give your mother-in-law a proper burial." Damian was even willing to willingly perform the funeral for Dylan's parents, whom he didn't even know.
"Madam, it seems they've arrived." John hurriedly gave me the report. Damian and I rushed outside and saw our mother's car in the distance. There was a feeling of relief when my mother's car finally entered the yard of this house.
Some of the mother's guards came down, along with Lily and my father-in-law. My father-in-law's disheveled, tired, and sad face made me worry. He also didn't allow his wife's body to be removed from the car by anyone else. He himself got his mother-in-law out of the car.
I approached my father-in-law to check on my mother-in-law's condition. There's a stab wound in her abdomen, and even though the bleeding has been stopped, the bloodstains on her clothes can't hide the fact that she lost a lot of blood earlier.
"Bring it in." I instructed the others to give my father-in-law access to the house.
Inside the house, my father laid my mother's body on the sofa, and then he cried.
"What really happened?" I asked Father.
"That wicked child blamed us for your departure. And he stabbed his own mother." I was stunned to hear Father's confession. Dylan finally truly hurt his own mother very fatally.
"Forgive me, Father. I didn't know Dylan would blame you for my departure. Mother's death is definitely because of me." I couldn't hold back my tears; even though they weren't my biological parents, they were so kind, and they brought warmth to Dylan's cold and terrible house.
"No, I didn't come to your house to blame you, my daughter-in-law. I want to entrust my wife's body to you. I remember the last time you bravely defended us and asked us to find Egan's house. In a state of turmoil, I finally found the house. I apologize for possibly causing you trouble." My father-in-law's words made me shake my head vigorously.
"I will give Mother a proper funeral. Meanwhile, stay with us so that Father remains safe." With all my heart, I asked Father to stay with us.
"I have to go. I must kill that disobedient child myself." This isn't a lie; when my father said that, there was a flash of anger in his eyes. A father who was usually quiet finally moved with the emotions that had been building up in his chest.
"No, sir. You're going to lose to Dylan. Don't try to fight Dylan alone." Damian spoke, trying to stop my father-in-law from doing something reckless.
"I have nothing left. For me, my wife is the only treasure in my life. Now I walk with a limp; even if I have to die at that child's hands, I wouldn't mind. I feel like I have to fight him with my own two hands, teach him a lesson, and punish him as my final act of responsibility as a parent who raised a devil like him." Father said that while crying, his voice trembling, and his hands clenched tightly.
"Dad, I will avenge everything Dylan has done to you, to my family, to me, and to everyone he has harmed. So I hope Dad stays calm; let me handle this. Because I have a group I think can take on Dylan, and we're on a big plan. So I hope Dad stays here, stays with us, and lets us move." I'm trying to reason with my father-in-law.
"Although I don't know you, I know you are a good person. Your sense of responsibility as a parent is so great, I am proud. But trust me, your wife will also agree with what Daniella said. She will ask you to be quiet and let our reliable people take action." When Damian said that, Father fell silent.
"I don't know what to say, but I'm counting on you both. I will obey and observe from a distance." Finally, Dad is willing to listen to us.
After my father's emotions were released, after we talked together, we prepared my mother-in-law's body for a proper burial. With Father's approval, we buried her around Damian's forest house to minimize suspicion.
My mother-in-law was buried at five in the afternoon, in drizzling rain, but everything went smoothly. Father's tears accompanied Mother's departure, even when we returned home.
My mother and Lily said goodbye to go home, while my father-in-law will stay with me and Damian for a while.
I asked Collin and John to stay at this house because, for some reason, I felt uneasy. Maybe I'm afraid my father-in-law, in his grief, will recklessly run away and kill his own child.
Collin and John both followed my words well. They took turns guarding the porch while I and the others were inside to keep my father company and comfort him until he was ready to sleep.
My father-in-law was lost in thought most of the time, even though Damian and I tried to talk to him, offered him delicious food, and even joked with him. Dad really lost half of himself; if it weren't for us, I'm sure he'd run off to kill Dylan right now.
At midnight, Damian helped Father rest in the room he had prepared. But suddenly there was a loud noise outside that made us rush out, and so did Dad; his tiredness suddenly disappeared.
When we came out, Damian immediately pulled my hand back, hiding me behind his body. I haven't managed to process and see in detail who came, and Damian's movements surprised me a little.
"So you were hiding here, Daniella." That's Dylan's voice. I tried to see him, but the headlights of the cars and the motorcycles of Dylan's men made it difficult for me to see clearly. I only saw Collin and John already standing guard up ahead.
"How did you know this place?" Damian asked, his jaw clenching tightly.
"I hid something on my father's body; I knew he would definitely look for Egan's house." Dylan's words made my father-in-law panic.
"I don't know anything, Daniella. I swear, I didn't want to mislead you or reveal your hiding place."
"But you're the one who brought me here," Dylan said.
