Chapter 83: Following My Orders

Chapter 83: Following My Orders
Damian Black's POV:

"What did you find out?" I asked this time with more intensity. "What is the news that you wish not to say?"

"Boss," Andre started to speak as Matthew was coming up the stairs now. "Kelly Anne... She... She is no longer at the hospital."

I couldn't speak. I didn't know how to think. What?! It's like I couldn't put a thought together in that moment.

"Who the hell?" I asked as I tried to keep my tone low so that Nadine wouldn't come out here poking around asking questions. Then, in an even quieter tone, I asked, "Nobody... She doesn't know anybody. I made sure that nobody would go there before Dr. Guzmin had his opportunity to evaluate her."

"We are fully aware of that, sir," Matthew spoke as he finally reached Andre's position but one stare below. "We are looking into that now to see exactly who was the one who managed to give her a ride from the hospital, but as far as we can tell, we have not been able to find any information that leads to her current whereabouts."

"Well then, this needs to be a top priority!" I spoke with intensity while still keeping my tone low.

I turned around thinking Nadine was going to come out here and interrupt my conversation when I heard her shout out instead, saying, "Damian!" I heard Nadine calling from inside the plane. "It's beautiful!"

"Do everything you can," I spoke, turning back around to look at both Andre and Matthew. "Call the next resources if you have to. Put the word out. I want her found. I don't like this. Something about this isn't sitting right with me."

"Don't worry, boss," Matthew said at that moment as Andre turned to the side to allow him more room to come up closer. "We will find her.

"Listen," I said in a stern tone. I had a look of sheer fierceness across my face, so that there was no mistake in what I was about to say. "Kelly Anne's a problem now. Find her and no mistakes. I won't let them slide when my name is on the line here. Be quiet about this first. Use the hospital's video surveillance footage as a starting point. Someone had to have seen something."

"Boss, isn't there supposed to be a uh... A nurse that is supposed to walk around to a vehicle?" Andre asked right then.

"Yeah, I do believe that is hospital policy that they walk you out to the vehicle in a wheelchair," Matthew added to Andre's statement.

"That's good to know," I said as I looked back and forth between the two of them. "Start there. Find something. Track down every lead. Do a contact sweep if you have to. Find out exactly who she spoke to and when. When you find the one who took her... Bring them in alive. I can't stress this next part enough. No one, and I repeat no one, is to touch her until I say otherwise. Is that clear?"

"We understand that, boss," both Andre and Matthew spoke at the exact same time.

"Good, make sure everyone knows it too," I said as I turned back to look around me, making sure that Nadine was behind me.

"Keep it tight and only inform who you must," I continued, speaking in a low yet firm tone. "I want no leaks on this. No leaks, you hear me. Oh, and if anyone talks back, have them removed to the appropriate location."

"We will do what is necessary," Matthew said as he started to turn away to walk back down the stairs to make a phone call to those he needed to.

He had pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and was just about to take a step down when I spoke up, saying, "Matthew. If it costs money, spend it accordingly. If the cost involves bodies, have it handled. I do not want this to get back to me that someone didn't do their job. I want results. I don't want excuses."

Matthew again nodded his head as I glanced over at Andre, before looking back at Matthew.

"There's too much riding on this," I spoke as Andre took the last step to the top of the airstairs landing, as Matthew looked back up from his phone. "She will pay. She will pay dearly. I will make sure of that. When she's in custody, be sure to send her to The Safe. I'll take it from there once we return. Keep any and all movements to a minimum. I don't want her to see this coming. Oh, and be sure to call me. Only... if it's good news, understood?

"I will ensure that your word is the letter of the law, boss," Matthew stated before he pressed a button on his phone and then placed it to the side of his head as he continued walking down the few remaining steps.

"Now hurry up so we can get going," I said as he continued walking away.

"Excuse me, Mr. Black," said the one flight attendant as she came back from the cockpit. I turned around to face her when she added, "The pilot said we are ready to go on your word, sir. The ground crew are ready and will be here in a few minutes."

I nodded to her as I turned back around to face Andre.

"What was it that the captain said?" Andre asked, changing subjects.

Right in that precise moment, Nadine walked around the corner behind me, and I could hear her as I turned around to face her.

"What do you think?" Nadine asked, sporting a new shoulder bag from one of Europe's top brands. "It matches my dress."

"Yes, I can see that," I said as I took a step back, allowing Andre to walk into the intrigue of the plane right along with me. "Why don't you go ahead and get yourself settled? I have one last bit of business to discuss before we can take flight."

"Don't take too long now," Nadine said as she turned on her heels and headed back into the cabin.

I lightly shook my head side to side as I turned back around to face Andre.

"As I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted," I spoke in a low tone, glancing over my shoulder. "We may encounter a bit of weather. The captain said there may be a slight deviation from the flight plan. However, other than that, everything should be on schedule."
