Chapter 251: What Would I Do Without Him?

Chapter 251: What Would I Do Without Him?
Kelly Anne's POV:

I finally managed to make my way over to the edge of the bed with Jasper's guided and supportive help. He made sure I didn't injure my right wrist any further as I adjusted my position there as he pulled back the covers on the top of the bed so that my legs could hang there without being obscured. I looked down at my lap and pressed my lips in a fine line, seeing that my wrist was still wrapped in the custom-made cast we picked up on our first trip when we left the penthouse last time.

That injury only added to the soreness that came with my new injury on my left shoulder. I still didn't know how that happened, but I would find out in time, I figured. Overall, as I turned to look back at Jasper, I was very thankful that Jasper knew a very important difference. There is a clear difference between knowing when someone was able to attend to their own needs and someone who is completely faking it. In that last aspect, my mind went immediately to Shane. Hell, he seemed to fake being injured all the time just so he could receive pity from others.

As I admired Jasper's posture, even while we sat there in silence on the edge of his bed, I knew there was a fine line between Jasper and Shane. Jasper at least knew that with my current injuries, my right arm would be sore after the accident we were in, and that didn't help the fact that my left arm wouldn't be able to support my weight if I shifted in such a manner, even while sitting there on the edge of his bed.

What would I do if it weren't for Jasper? He has taken such great care of me. Sure, we had our ups and downs, with someone constantly trying to take me out of the picture and all, but hey. No matter what, Jasper has been there right by my side the entire time. Even if it meant that I wound up injured right along with him. He was still there, by my side without a doubt.

"Well, there's one good thing about today, or whatever day it is right now," I said as I looked over at Jasper sitting there on the side of the bed with me.

"What's that?" Jasper asked, reaching out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind my ear as I smiled back at him sweetly.

"At least I didn't wake up screaming this time, if you think about it," I asked him as he reached over and scooted me closer to sit next to him.

I continued to sit there, trying not to make this moment an awkward one as my legs hung over the edge of the bed, and I looked back down into my lap. I inhaled deeply and let it out with a bit of a huff. I then thought I could admire what I was wearing. It was a very thin black sheen material, but this distinct nightgown was unlike anything that Jasper had given me before.

Where did this come from? I knew Jasper had an assortment of surprises in boxes of various sizes and shapes that he kept hidden in his closet throughout the week. The more I thought about it, it dawned on me that I still had yet to see exactly how big it was. Would he even care if I decided to get up right at this very moment and go look in his closet? What I happen to find a whole array of boxes if that were the case?

I couldn't help it when I left myself at that thought alone. To be honest, I'm not sure if he would care, given everything we have been through together over the past week.

"You're right," Jasper said, cutting into my thoughts as I turned to look at him.

"Huh?" I asked him when our eyes met.

At that particular moment, I decided to stand up. I reached out with my left hand and placed it on top of Jasper's right shoulder. He instinctively reached up to me with both of his arms, making sure to study me as I walked around the stand directly in front of him.

"What was it that I missed?" I asked him rather cunningly.

He reached up, first placing his hands on both of my hips before sliding them around till they were touching the small of my back. At the same time, I reached up with both my arms and laid them down on top of Jasper's shoulders. I even decided to play with his hair, running my fingers through it lightly as I watched him close his eyes and see him melt within my touch. I even closed my eyes for a brief moment as I soaked in the passion that Jasper felt whenever I would touch him. I was ever so thankful that somebody was appreciate if of whatever I gave them a caring moment.

It was moments like this that drew me and more and more. I don't know how I was ever able to live without Jasper before. Why did everything feel so right when we were together? Something about that didn't make sense. Why did it take so long for me to be able to find him, if that were even the case? Why did I have to go through absolute hell in order to find Jasper? I had so many questions, but I didn't care about answers, for I was caught up in this particular moment.

I opened my eyes as I looked down at Jasper to see that he was already looking up at me. I pulled my left hand back down, dragging my fingers along the skin of his neck till I managed to reach the point of his shoulder. I couldn't help but smile as I watched Jasper's muscles twitch underneath his skin as I ran my fingers along till I reached a part of the medical tape that held the square gauze in place over his unknown wound.

"What I said was, is this. You're right," Jasper spoke again. When he did, I watched the muscles in his entire torso stretch as he inhaled slightly, then he continued his next statement when he added, "This time you didn't wake up screaming from an apparent nightmare. You do know where that is, don't you?"

I looked in the complete opposite direction of where Jasper was seated, and then I turned back around to look down at him, throwing my head about as if doing so in a sarcastic manner when I asked him in my response this time. "No, now why on earth would that be?"

"It's because I was right there beside you, Love," Jasper spoke, his tone rather deep as his words sounded quite serious.

In fact, I smirked at him with my next thought. His words were as serious as a heart attack, and his facial expression was stripped of all emotion as I noticed he was trying his hardest to keep his sexy smirk from me.
