Chapter 273: The Shameless Man (Part 2)
“No,” Pierre said.
“You don’t like me, I don’t like you—awkward, isn’t it?” Alison muttered.
“So what? I don’t care. Come on, I’ll take you out to eat. You’ll love it.” He grinned, revealing a row of perfect teeth.
He naturally took her hand, and she followed him a few steps instinctively.
No! I can’t just go eat with a stranger.
“Pierre, stop joking. You’ll regret this.”
“Why? In my dictionary, there’s no regret.”
“Hey, if you’re looking for someone to dine with, at least pick a decent lady.”
“What? Aren’t you?” He stopped, spun her around, and forced her to face him.
“No,” she replied without hesitation, smirking.
“Then are you one of those streetwalkers?”
“Are you a gigolo, then?”
“Haha! Then we’re a perfect match.”
“Hey, I’m married, and I have a child.”
Pierre blinked, then said, “So what if you’re married? I don’t care about your husband or your kid. I just want to know you.”
Then he tugged her along again.
“Let go of me! I really do have a husband and kids.”
“That Jack guy?”
“Yes.”
“But you can’t see him, right? Then why not consider me instead?”
He kept walking, the camera swinging from his neck.
Alison eyed the camera. “Pierre, show me the photos you took.”
“Ok, but look at them at the restaurant. It’s freezing out here.”
Hearing this, she noticed he was wearing only a thin shirt and pants.
“Hey, are you crazy? You’ll freeze dressed like that.”
“I always dress like this at home.”
“You’ll get sick.”
“What? Are you actually worried about me?”
“No,” she frowned.
He sighed. “I like you like this.”
Alison was baffled. “Mr. Bruce, I really do have a husband. Want me to call my kids?”
“Sure, go ahead.” He stopped and looked at her. “But don’t even think about running away. I’m still waiting for dinner with you.”
She pulled out her phone and dialed Sophia and Ethan, hoping it would make Pierre give up.
The kids picked up quickly.
Alison pressed the speaker button so their voices filled the air.
“Mommy, why did you call so late tonight?” Ethan asked.
“Oh, Mommy was out and forgot to call.”
“Mommy, is it cold where you are?”
“Yes, but I’m bundled up.”
Looking at Pierre, Alison frowned.
Suddenly, he snatched the phone from her hand.
“Hey, boy, I’m your mom’s friend. Where are you guys? Want to come over for dinner?”
Alison shot Pierre a glare.
“Really? Yay! I want to eat with Mommy!” Sophia squealed.
Pierre froze. Covering the receiver, he asked, “You have a son and a daughter?”
Alison nodded. “Yes, they’ll be five after the new year.”
Pierre ignored Sophia and Ethan on the line and turned back to Alison.
He fired off questions like bullets. “So you married young. No wonder you divorced so fast. Did your husband leave you because you were too young? He didn’t give you the kids either, did he? Need my help?”
“Give me back the phone…” Alison snapped, out of patience.
“Hey, you haven’t answered me yet!”
“Mr. Bruce, please. This is an international call.”
He tucked the phone behind him and smiled. “Answer my question.”
“Mommy, why aren’t you talking? Hello?” Ethan and Sophia’s anxious voices came through the speaker, thinking the signal had dropped.
“Give it to me!”
“No answer, no phone,” he teased.
“Fine, I’ll tell you. My husband and I have a great relationship. The kids aren’t with me because I work here. See? I can call them anytime.”
She didn’t dare mention her husband was gone—afraid Pierre would only cling harder.
