Chapter 272: The Shameless Man (Part 1)
Alison stopped and gazed at the snowy expanse.
She bent down and wrote the words “Jack, I miss you” with her finger.
She poured her heart out onto this pristine snow.
Within moments, the white surface was filled with the same words, “Jack, I miss you.”
After finishing, she stood up.
Suddenly, a flash of light flickered.
Assuming someone was taking pictures, Alison ignored it at first.
Yet the flash kept going off, drawing her attention.
She turned her head and saw a man a few steps away, constantly adjusting his camera angle to photograph her.
She quickly shielded her pink cheeks from the cold with her hands.
“Sir, please don’t take pictures.”
The man ignored her and kept snapping photos.
Alison growled, “Stop!”
It drew the attention of those around her.
Finally, the man lowered his camera, a radiant smile lighting up his face — so handsome that for an instant he looked exactly like Jack.
She instinctively ran toward him, murmuring, “Jack.”
The man smiled and opened his arms.
His warm breath brushed against her nose.
“Jack,” she murmured, pressing close to his chest.
It felt like something out of a dream.
She listened to the frantic beat of his heart — her own heart pounding with disbelief and relief.
They remained in this embrace for a long time.
“Jack, you’ve finally come back,” she whispered.
“I’m sorry, miss, but I’m not Jack.”
His voice was clear and deep but it lacked Jack’s familiar warmth.
Alison jolted awake and swiftly pulled away from the man’s embrace.
“Who… who are you?”
“Pierre Bruce,” the man said.
“Bruce?” She frowned.
“Yes, it’s quite special, isn’t it?” He watched her reaction, his smile growing brighter.
Before she could answer, he took her hand.
“Your hands are freezing. Let’s go get something to eat and warm up.”
Alison instinctively pulled her hand away. “Sorry, I should go.”
Then, she turned and ran as fast as she could. But Pierre was faster.
“Stop right there! Don’t run! Otherwise, I’ll catch you, lock you up in my apartment.” Pierre’s voice was threatening.
His teasing tone was so much like Jack’s that her heart stuttered.
Alison shook her head, reminding herself it was not Jack.
She kept running.
“Thud!” Alison crashed into the snow.
Before she could react, Pierre followed her down.
His hands wrapped around her waist, and they rolled together in the snow.
He laughed as they tumbled. “Told you you couldn’t escape!”
Alison gasped for breath, panting, too winded to fight back.
Then, a slender finger touched her cheek.
“Let go of me,” she protested, struggling to break free.
But Pierre’s arms tightened around her waist, holding her fast.
“I like watching you write. Could you write for me every day?” he declared.
“Just the words I wrote earlier?” Alison gazed at him.
“No, change it to ‘Pierre, I miss you.’” His fingers traced her cheek while he murmured softly, “Okay?”
“Haha…” Alison burst into laughter and asked, “Pierre, did you fall for me at first sight? Ridiculous.”
Pierre raised an eyebrow, then shook his head with mock seriousness.
“I never said I liked you.”
Alison exhaled in relief.
“So, could you please let go of me?” she asked.
