Chapter 207: We’ll Talk When I Wake Up
In a hazy daze, Alison felt herself being carried in his arms.
Jack took her into the bedroom.
Gazing at her serene sleeping face, his lips pressed to hers with longing.
Yet, knowing he must not disturb her peaceful slumber, he decided to teach her a lesson when she awoke.
Alison stirred, turning over.
Jack withdrew his kiss, listening to her breathe beside him. It all felt unreal, like a dream.
He clasped her hand and closed his eyes, trying to sleep alongside her. Yet sleep eluded him.
Suddenly, Alison let out a low cry. “Ah…”
Her voice was filled with panic. Her hands were damp with a thin sheen of sweat—she was clearly frightened.
“Take it away. Don’t come near me,” she murmured, shaking her head.
Jack sat up, concern evident in his voice. “Alison, are you having a nightmare?”
Her cries grew louder, and sweat poured from her forehead.
“Jack, take it away! Quick!” Her voice was filled with terror.
He decided to wake her up.
Without hesitation, he descended upon her lips, starting with a gentle touch that deepened. His tongue slipped into her mouth, seeking hers. He hoped it would awaken her from the nightmare.
“Mmm…” The kiss worked like a charm, distracting her from the nightmare’s terror. Her hands flailed in the air before settling on his neck. As the kiss deepened, she kissed him back, their kisses wild and passionate.
Her eyes remained closed as she mumbled between kisses, “Jack, is that you?”
He gently patted her back and replied, “Alison, it’s me, Jack.”
“Jack…” She deepened the kiss, merging with him and finding security in him.
This was the first time she had been so proactive; her wild return ignited the flame within him.
Between kisses, she whispered, “Jack, don’t leave me, okay?”
He answered, “Mm, I won’t.”
Suddenly, she cried out in panic, “Jack, there’s a skull! Take it away, please!”
As she spoke, her lips pulled away from his.
He reassured, “Okay, I’ll get rid of it now. Don’t be afraid. I’m here. No one can hurt you. Alison, wake up. Tell me what happened to you.”
He wanted to know the truth about everything, including who had taken Sophia.
Still half-asleep, she clung tightly to his neck.
“Home. This is our home,” he said.
She murmured, “Home…”
Opening her eyes, she touched his face.
“Jack? Is it you?” Her eyes filled with disbelief.
He took her hand and rubbed it against his cheek. “Yes, Alison, it’s me.”
Still dazed, she bit her lip hard. The pain made her realize that this wasn’t a dream.
She came to her senses, and her memories began to return.
He added, “This is our home.”
She looked around, finding that everything in the room was unfamiliar. She saw the enormous photograph on the opposite wall—of herself sitting on the lawn, smiling with her head slightly bowed.
He pinched her nose and laughed.
“This is our home, silly,” he said.
Her eyes stung, but she protested. “No, we’re nothing now.”
Deep down, she wanted to marry him. But Isabella would never agree — she had ruined his wedding to Aimée.
“Alison, trust me.” Seeing her unease, he comforted her, his voice soft and gentle.
He vowed inside, I will marry you. I will love you forever.
Her eyes glistened. His words sent ripples of happiness through her heart.
“Why did you suddenly leave? You’re such a fool,” he said.
“Jack, I couldn’t let Isabella take her own life because of me. She is your mother.”
