Chapter 205: “Don’t Make Mom Angry” (Part 1)

Chapter 205: “Don’t Make Mom Angry” (Part 1)
“Sophia, are you okay?” Alison hugged Sophia tightly. Then, she released her, inspecting her carefully from head to foot.

“Mommy, I’m fine.” Sophia twirled in front of Alison.

Alison pulled her close once more, tears streaming down.

“Mommy, I want a hug, too,” Ethan protested.

“Ethan, come here. Daddy will hold you.” Jack bent down and picked him up. Deep down, he felt Sophia’s return was connected to Ethan.

Isabella kept staring at the two children. She desperately wanted to walk over and hug them, but her pride held her back. So she turned and left silently. Many in the hall followed her.

Aidan took a deep breath. He still needed Alison to give him an explanation, but not now.

He had lost this battle for love to Jack.

His footsteps were heavy as he walked away, leaving him hollow and lost.

Jack approached Alison. After setting Ethan down, Jack wrapped his arms tightly around all three of them.

Deep down, he swore no matter what the future held, he would protect them.

Alison was still crying, her tears soaking Sophia’s clothes.

“Alison, let’s go home,” Jack said.

Hearing his voice, Alison reluctantly let go of Sophia.

The hall was empty, and only the mess on the table remained. Everyone had left.

“Jack, where’s Aidan?” She had wanted to thank him.

“Mom, Godfather already left.”

“Sophia, tell Mom who took you away.” Alison wanted to know the truth.

“Mom, I don’t know.” Sophia blinked, looking confused.

Alison frowned. “Sophia, what does he look like?”

Sophia blinked and said, “Mommy, he was so nice. He said he would take me to see Daddy and gave me candy, so…”

“So you just went off with him?” Alison’s anger burned, and she raised her hand to spank Sophia, but Jack stopped her just in time.

“Alison, don’t hit Sophia. She didn’t mean it.” Jack looked at his daughter with a gentle gaze.

Sophia said, “Mommy, he said he’d bring me to see Daddy today. Look, Daddy is here. I’m so happy!”

She took Alison’s hand and placed it in Jack’s. “Daddy, don’t make Mommy angry anymore. Or I won’t talk to you.”

“Okay. Daddy won’t do it again.” Jack promised Sophia while growing curious about the person who had taken her away. “Sophia, is this person a man or a woman? How could you not know who he is? Didn’t you see him?”

Sophia replied seriously, “I only heard his voice, but I couldn’t see his face. He was wearing a mask that only showed his eyes, so I just didn’t know.”

“I see,” Jack nodded and asked, “Sophia, where did you sleep last night?”

“At that person’s house! He kept telling me stories. Mommy, he was really nice,” Sophia said happily.

Jack added, “Sophia, was that man about the same height as Daddy?”

Sophia thought for a moment and said, “I guess so. He was tall and always crouched down to talk to me.”

“Do you remember where his house is, Sophia?” Jack’s eyes lit up.

“I don’t know. He said we were playing hide-and-seek and blindfolded me. He only took it off when we got to his house. It was really fun.”

Jack turned to Ethan. “Ethan, how did you find Sophia?”

Ethan said, “Mommy, I saw her clothes in the bathroom, but she was too far away for me to see clearly.”

“What?” Alison was stunned by Ethan’s words. “You found Sophia all along?”

Ethan explained, “Mommy, I just thought it looked a little like her. The car was too far away. I was leaning on the windowsill and could only catch a little.”

That was why he had stayed in the bathroom so long — he had spotted traces of Sophia.

Alison looked at Sophia, who was still wearing yesterday’s pink outfit. “Sophia, were you in that car earlier?”

Sophia nodded. “Yes, that person drove me here. He said I could wait for Mommy and Daddy right here.”

The man seemed to have no intention of kidnapping Sophia.

“Sophia, have you eaten any breakfast?”

Sophia replied, “Yes. The food he made was delicious.”

“What did you call him?”

Sophia thought for a moment. “I didn’t really call him anything. He just coaxed me to eat, told me stories, and said he would take me to see Daddy.”
