Chapter 155: Love Conquers All (Part 1)

Chapter 155: With Love, There Is Everything (Part 1)

She noticed, "Jack, does it hurt?"

He grimaced, giving her a look that said, "What do you think?"

"Jack, you should put some medicine on it."

"Alright." He agreed immediately. Forget about sleep, he wanted her to be the one to apply the medicine. After all, it was her fault, so she should be the one to fix it.

She sat up, then stood, pulling him up as if he were a patient. "Come on, let's go downstairs and see if the hotel has any medicine."

"No need, I have some in my car."

"You have medicine in your car?"

"Yeah." He smiled. He couldn't remember when he started the habit of keeping medicine in his car.

Looking at her face, he suddenly realized it started four years ago.

Back then, she had gotten hurt.

He held her hand, their fingers intertwined, as they walked back from the balcony to the room where the kids were sleeping soundly.

They tiptoed out of the room, and only when they heard the kids were still asleep did they breathe a sigh of relief.

Still holding hands, they walked in silence, but the unspoken closeness connected their hearts.

As they approached the front door, the two security guards Alison had called for help earlier were still standing there.

Alison stopped, "Jack, can we use another door?"

"There isn't one. There's no side door here." He remembered there were no other doors, and the parking lot was just outside on the lawn.

"I think there is. Let's look again." She actually wanted to avoid the two guards.

He realized something was off. They were almost at the door, and she was still looking for another exit. It was a waste of time. Then he noticed the two guards.

He laughed.

While she was still looking around, he scooped her up and whispered in her ear, "Don't look up. I promise they won't see you."

"Ah..." She felt so embarrassed, like he had seen right through her. But he was already striding towards the door, so she buried her face in his chest, pretending not to see the guards. Well, this was the best she could do. Out of sight, out of mind. She hoped the guards wouldn't recognize her.

He quickly carried her to the car, opened the door, and placed her in the back seat before getting in himself. He found the medicine for external injuries and handed it to her. "Here, for you."

"You have hands, do it yourself," she said.

"Miss, look at my arm. How can I apply medicine with one hand?" He pitifully showed her the arm she had bitten.

She felt guilty. The bite mark was still there, and it was her doing.

"Alright." She took the cotton swab and medicine he handed her and carefully applied it to his wound. She was quite good at this.

Her focused expression made him stare at her through the car's interior light. The cotton swab dipped in medicine, she gently applied it to his wound.

"Does it hurt?" she asked softly.

"Yeah, it hurts." In truth, he didn't care about the small injury, but he loved how focused she was when she treated him. She looked like she really cared, and that made him happy.

"If you mess with me again, I'll bite you even harder," she said confidently, still annoyed at how easily she had forgiven him.

"Fine, I'll make sure to offer my arm for you to bite next time. Alison, see how obedient I am?"

"Not bad, but I'll only give you a ninety."

"Why? You should give me a perfect score."

"You're lying."

"I am not."

"You don't even feel pain, so you're lying." She said as she put away the cotton swab and medicine. While chatting with him, she had guessed his thoughts. He was a bit like Aidan, sometimes acting like a big kid around her, with none of the airs of a CEO.

"It doesn't hurt after the medicine." He grinned, leaning closer to her face.

"Jack, how old are you?" She turned to put the remaining items in the medicine box, asking softly.

"Thirty-two." He answered obediently.

"Then why do you act like a two-year-old, younger than Ethan?" She teased, trying to turn the tables on him.

"Hey, you can't say that. That's a generation gap. I'm older than my son, how can you make me sound younger than him?" He protested, his face full of reluctance.

"Alright, then let's say you're twelve. Is that okay?"

"You... you..." He reached out to tickle her, now knowing her weak spot.

She tried to dodge, but the car was too small. She had nowhere to escape and was quickly caught. "Tell me, how old am I?"

"Hey, you're a big shot in the construction industry, and you don't even know your own age? You need me to tell you?" She said, holding back laughter, making him so angry his face turned green.

He collapsed on top of her, speechless for the first time because of a woman, and it was his own doing.

They lay there on the car seat, her underneath, him on top, in a very suggestive position. Her soft body made his thoughts wander.

He lowered his head to kiss her. "Alison..."

She gently pushed him away, suddenly thinking of a good way to punish him. "Jack, I want you to tear up that agreement."

His heart tightened, thinking that might mean he couldn't do anything to her anymore. But the thought quickly passed, and he agreed readily. "Okay."

"And from now on, without my permission, you can't... you can't..." She hesitated to say it.

He had a vague idea and, though reluctant, wanted to tease her. "Can't what?"

"Can't touch me." She bit her lip and finally said it.

"Alright, but I allow you to touch me."

"Hey... you..." His words made her blush again, and he couldn't resist kissing her lips.

"I only promised not to touch you, but I didn't say you couldn't touch me." He added. If he couldn't even kiss and hug her, how would he live?

"Jack, look out the back window." She suddenly pointed behind him.

"What?" He turned to look, seeing only darkness. At that moment, she quickly opened the car door and ran out, like a little rabbit, darting back into the hotel. Her actions reminded him of the time she had ditched him before.
