Chapter 156 With Love, There Is Everything (Part 2)
"Alison, stop running! If you keep going, I swear I'll jump off the balcony. Do you really wanna see me fall from the sixth floor and get smashed to pieces?" He exaggerated, making it sound like he was really going to die if he climbed over the balcony.
As soon as she heard that, she turned around and ran back to him, gently covering his mouth with her fingers. "Shh, don't say stuff like that."
"What shouldn't I say?" He laughed, his smile bright and genuine because he was so happy she came back.
"Jack, you really deserve a beating," she said, pretending to bite him.
He immediately raised his arm in front of her. "Go ahead, bite me. But remember to put some ointment on it afterward."
He acted like a pitiful little puppy, and her heart softened. She didn't bite him but instead started punching him with all her might. Sigh, she was completely under his spell again.
He let her hit him, and after a while, when he felt her punches getting weaker, he pulled her into his arms. "From now on, you can hit me every day if it helps you feel better," he said seriously.
What else could she do?
When they got back to the room, it was almost morning. She pushed him towards the bed. "Go to sleep."
"No," he said stubbornly, like a child.
"Why are you still acting like a kid?" she said helplessly.
"I want to watch the sunrise," he insisted.
"Then you should sleep first and wake up to see it," she advised.
"No way, I'll oversleep," he persisted.
Looking at the time, if they wanted to see the sunrise, they could only sleep for an hour at most. Fine, she would go crazy with him this once. After all, she was also moved and wanted to watch the sunrise with him.
She nodded slightly, her tone firm. "I want to bring the kids too."
He affectionately ruffled her hair and smiled. "Okay, we'll bring them today, but not tomorrow." He knew he needed to spend more time with the kids. He had missed nearly four years of their lives, and that was his fault. So, he would try to make up for it as much as possible. Even though he wanted to selfishly have her all to himself, he knew that wasn't possible.
He felt a bit jealous of Sophia and Ethan, thinking they were the most important in her heart.
He planned to find a chance to ask her if he was only third in her heart, or even lower. But for now, he had to keep her happy, or she might kick him out.
After all, he had just managed to win back her affection, even if it was only for half a night. He wasn't in a hurry because he still had the next six days.
Six days were enough for him to slowly make her fall in love with him. With love, everything else would follow. Love could etch everything deeply into memory, never to be erased.
After taking a shower, she was rummaging through the suitcase, looking for clothes for the kids and herself. Watching her compare each tiny outfit, he felt a glow of maternal love that he could never experience. But he was a father now, wasn't he?
Seeing her skillfully fold the clothes and place them by the bed, he walked over and squatted in front of her, pouting. "I want you to prepare for me too."
"I don't have your suitcase, how can I prepare?" she replied without looking up, her hands still busy.
"I'll go get it," he said seriously, then really moved all his stuff into her room. The room instantly felt much more crowded.
"Are you planning to stay here?" she asked in surprise.
"Yep," he said, grinning.
"No way!" she immediately objected.
"I'll sleep on the floor, okay? Don't worry, I just want to be with the kids," he whispered, afraid of waking them up.
But they still woke up. The two little ones on the bed started stretching and turning over, then opened their eyes, looking drowsily at the two adults on the floor.
"Mommy, is that Daddy?" They seemed to be dreaming. It was still dark, so why was there an extra person in the room?
"Yes, it's Daddy." Before Alison could decide whether to admit it, Jack had already stood up and brought his handsome face close to Sophia and Ethan.
"Daddy, it's so good you're here!" The two little ones didn't push him away at all. They immediately hugged him, one on each side, not wanting to let go.
"Do you want to watch the sunrise, kids?"
"Yes! Yes! Daddy, can you take us and Mommy to watch it together?" Sophia sneaked a glance at Mommy, seeing that she didn't seem unhappy, and felt relieved, cheering up.
"Okay, the four of us will go together. Get up, wash up, get dressed, and get ready to go downstairs. Daddy will bring the car to the front door and wait for you." He patted the kids' heads, then turned to prepare the car.
The room was instantly filled with Sophia and Ethan's laughter. They were well-rested and had no idea how Daddy had turned Mommy's tears into smiles. But they knew better than to ask Mommy about it. They'd find a chance to secretly ask Daddy.
Alison helped the kids get dressed, checked the water and food they needed to bring, then held their hands and walked towards the door.
Just then, Jack's phone rang.
Alison let go of the kids' hands, went back to the room, and picked up the phone. The screen showed one word: Mom. It was Isabella calling Jack.
The ringtone was pleasant, but seeing that number gave Alison a bad feeling. She hesitated for a moment but didn't answer. It was Jack's phone, and it would be impolite to answer it. Even though she wanted to know if Isabella was calling because Jack had come to see her.
She didn't press the answer button, letting the phone ring until it naturally stopped.
Isabella shouldn't suspect anything, right?
"Mommy, why didn't you answer Daddy's phone?" Sophia asked curiously.
"Well, no matter whose phone it is, if it's not yours, you shouldn't answer it. It's polite, remember?" Alison explained seriously to the kids.
Outside, the sky was just starting to lighten, with a thin mist hanging in the dawn. Everyone was waiting for the moment the sun would rise. It was the most dazzling and beautiful time of the day.
The car was already parked in front of the hotel. Jack opened the door and helped Sophia and Ethan into their seats. Once Alison was settled, he walked to the driver's seat. As soon as he sat down, Alison handed him his phone. "Jack, you got a call earlier."
