Chapter 53 - The Tycoon Alpha's Temptation

ROSE’S POV

Beep… Beep… Beep…

The vibrating sound blared off over and over, Irritating me.

That was no alarm. It was my cell phone and it has been vibrating for over thirty minutes yet I ignored it hoping that the vibration would stop and I would be able to get more sleep.

Cali chimed, “Or you are still waiting for Josh to knock on your door and tell you it's time for the morning training session? ”

I groaned, blocking my wolf beast’s voice out of my mind. Cali was right though.

Usually, I stay in bed till someone comes to knock on my door and reminds me of the activities I had to do. Alpha King Josh had always found pleasure in doing that even when we were not on good terms but for some reason, he hasn't done that today.

Neither did Adam or Eric.

No one came for me… Except for my cell phone if that count.

“Argh!”

I cried and eventually got off my bed when my phone rang again. I leaned toward my cell phone and discovered Jared and Fiona had been trying to reach me.

I cursed under my breath as I rushed to prepare for training. I carried a wound in my heart and an ache in my core as I did that. Alpha King Josh had done that to me.

After dressing up for training, I left my room and forgot to lock my bedroom door as I was distracted by my cell phone. I was trying to check if I got a text from Josh or a call at least.

However, there was nothing from him.

I hissed as anger surfaced within me.

How could he be so undisturbed about me?

Quickly, I checked his library and everywhere in the house even though I had already sensed that he wasn't in the mansion.

“Ahh!”

Eric screamed like the scaredy cat he was when he bumped into me as I made up my mind to give up the search for Alpha King Josh.

I voiced, “Do you have to be a screamer?”

Eric rolled his eyes as he pulled himself together. “Did you have to come to this part of the mansion? You scared me, Rose.”

Rather than respond to Eric's whims, I asked him, “Where is Alpha King Josh?”

“How am I supposed to know? He doesn't take permission from me to do things and go places.” Eric retorted.

I hissed at him, preparing a comeback but my cell phone vibrated in my hand again, grabbing my attention.

It was a call from Fiona. I answered her call and got tongue lashed by her and Jared… And some other aspiring warriors. Apparently, they had been waiting for me.

“I am on my way, Guys. I am sorry for keeping you waiting.”

I apologized and left Eric in the corridor. I took the stairs three at a time. Within five minutes, I made it to the training ground, and five minutes later, Eric arrived looking like he wanted to be anywhere but here.

The warriors and I did some basic stunts on the regular training ground and I could hear the other groups laughing at us as we practiced.

Cali scoffed, “We better have the best laugh or I will personally break these warriors’ bones.” That was a threat from my wolf beast. She was referring to the aspiring warriors, obviously.

I didn't agree with the part where Cali breaks bones but I completely agreed with laughing best. After a couple of awkward minutes which was a result of Alpha King Josh’s absence, I got used to the new atmosphere and focused fully on the warriors.

I pulled out my cell phone after an hour of knockoff workouts. It was time to initiate the real plan. I opened the chat group created for aspiring warriors and typed a text that simply said, “Once the others start leaving, we should also leave but in smaller groups of four or five.”

I also added; “The direction would be given by Jared and please don’t draw attention to us.”

Before I knew it, I started getting responses from the members. Fiona took it upon herself to type out the different routes that could be taken to our secret training ground even though it seemed like Emily was in on our secret.

“You should really visit her store one of these days, Rose. it will help clear your mind as well.” Cali’s voice resonated in my head.

I responded to her as I looked around the training ground to observe the atmosphere. “Are you saying I should spy on her or will it be a friendly visit?”

“It can be either of the two. Whichever one you choose, the fact remains, I like her and she is cool.” Cali scoffed obviously head over heels for Emily who we hardly spend time with.

My phone chimed, taking my attention off the group of warriors that were taking their leave. My face knitted into a deep frown when I saw that I had received a text from Emily.

“Talk of the devil.” I couldn't help but say that before opening her text.

Clicking on the notifications, I read Emily’s text and looked around to see if she was anywhere near me or probably in my head. I mean, how did she know to say, “I will be expecting you in my store later, Rose, and you can’t decline.”

That young lady has to be somewhere in my head.

If I didn't know better I would have thought Cali was sharing my thoughts with Emily’s wolf since she liked her so much.

“Quit the baseless allegations and focus on the team we are training.” My wolf beast said to me just as Fiona walked up to me.

Fiona smiled, “Shall we?”

“Of course, girl,” I whispered in response.

My attention shifted to my cell phone for some seconds and I thought it would be beneficial to quit ignoring Emily’s texts. Whether she was the mole or not, I needed to respond and match her energy.

So I texted her back. “I am not certain I can make it today, Emily. I will let you know if I can though. Thanks for inviting me to your store…” I sent the text after I was content with what I typed.

My brows furrowed when a thought popped into my mind. Fiona dragged me alone with her and some other warriors followed us as we head towards a route. Fiona led, of course, while I brood about the fact that Emily invited me to her store… not her home.

“How is that a problem?” Cali asked.

It wasn't exactly a problem but it just got me wondering if she was hiding something in her home… something like Alpha Richard or his so-called ears and eyes…

“Are you alright, Rose? You keep zoning out.” This time it was Fiona that cut my chain of thoughts.

She stared inquisitively at me. It was at that point that I realized we had arrived at the secret training ground and most of the team members were there as well.

“I am alright. Just training stuff.” I lied to Fiona and I didn't feel guilty about it.

Even though she didn't seem to like Emily, I couldn't possibly tell her, “Hey, Emily seems like a snake. Do you want to hunt her home with me?”

Fiona’s brows shot upward, hitting her forehead. She patted my shoulder and said, “Tell me if you need help girl. I will be there to lend you a hand or both hands.”

My heart fluttered when her reassuring words took effect on me. I couldn't stop my face from stretching into a smile. Maybe I could trust her fully. Maybe she was who I needed on my team. Aside from her hands, her nostrils and abilities might come in handy in sniffing out the ears and eyes that were on my tail.

I nodded, “Thank you, Fiona.” And she nodded right back.

We stared into each other’s eyes for what seemed like a hindered years until Jared’s voice broke the strange connection. “Can we begin after the staring contest?”

Fiona was quick to retort. “Shut your mouth.”

Jared stuck his tongue at her before they walked towards the other aspiring warriors and I sighed, telling myself that this was the time to shove my problems out of my mind and focus on the task at hand.

“This is what we will be doing, guys….” I began and before I knew it, we were hours into the training that would take this team to the top.

I forgot about Alpha Richard, Alpha King Josh, Emily, work, and every other thing that wasn't training as my Mom taught me many years ago. No one thought of stopping and that encouraged me.

I was comfortable with these people and they trusted me which made me give them my all until someone called my attention to the reality.

“I have to be on patrol in five minutes, Rose.”

Another said, “I have an assignment to attend to.”

Whether they were lying or not, it wasn't important. They have tried and I would be pushing too much if I couldn't release them after spending the whole day here.

Yes, the whole day… the sun was returning to its nest so we all should as well.

“I will see you all tomorrow…” I uttered without much consideration.

I mean, no one knew what tomorrow would bring and I definitely didn't know what the next hour would come with. If I did, I wouldn't scream my lungs out when it hit me and shook my world.
