Chapter 52 - The Tycoon Alpha's Temptation
ROSE’S POV
“Should we meet up? Let’s discuss the training plans and location.”
I sent that as a text to Jared and Fiona after waiting for Alpha King Josh’s return for hours… he still hasn't returned even though he has been gone for over three hours.
And although it was getting late and the clouds were becoming dark, I needed an escape from the house so Fiona and Jared were my best options.
Plus, I didn't want to stay in the huge mansion alone with the servants and Eric who was probably sleeping or studying materials related to business or the current projects.
Cali complained, “What’s taking him so long? I thought tonight will be the night but he isn't back yet…”
Just like I was Cali was horny and she craved Josh as much as I did. It was only a matter of time before I start whimpering like a needy sl*t. More reason I should get some fresh air into my lungs, flush my system and return home with a clearer mind.
Jared and Fiona’s responded at the same time and my phone chimed, notifying me of their texts.
Jared sent, “I think this is an excuse to hang us with me but okay, I am so in.”
While Fiona's text was more like, “Hmm… Kinda late but it’s alright. I will meet you and Jared by the gate of the Alpha King’s Mansion.”
I quickly wore baggy joggers and a hoodie before leaving my room. Due to a well-known reason; Alpha Richard's shenanigans; I locked my bedroom door and hoped that Alpha King Josh would have returned by the time I get back to the mansion.
“You look like you had a rough day, Rose.” Jared popped the minute I exited the Alpha King’s compound.
Jared seemed like a cool guy and if I wasn't being extra careful around everyone in the pack which was all thanks to Alpha Richard, I could see myself building a healthy and amazing friendship with Jared…
But I was still trying to sniff out Alpha Richard’s eyes and ears.
“Well, I have had better days but the day wasn't so bad, to be honest.” I responded to Jared just as Fiona’s frame appeared on the end of the street.
Jared and I began to walk up to her.
Jared asked, “You mentioned that you would be at the Alpha King’s company today. Why aren't you resting? One would think you would be tired after dealing with business issues all day.”
I met Jared's gaze suspiciously, wondering if he was asking questions because he was one of Alpha Richard’s ears and eyes but Jared smiled innocently and I shook myself. I couldn't go around suspecting everyone.
In fact, it was high time I start building my own army that would back me up when the worse come to the worst.
“And you think Jared is someone you should bring into your circle?” Cali asked sarcastically.
My wolf beast didn't believe that someone as weak as Jared and the other third-ranked Warriors would be of any use if the worse actually come to the worst
“Hey, guys.” Fiona chimed. She hugged Jared first before embracing me as well.
That wasn't usual but I let her pull me in for a hug.
Jared voiced, facing Fiona, “How is my favorite girl doing?”
Fiona rolled her eyes as she responded, “You and I have been together all day, searching for a better training location. Don’t try to butter me up, Jared.”
Apparently, Fiona and Jared have been friends since they were little and they both wanted to qualify as respected warriors. They have been supporting each other dreams and helping each other but they haven't really been growing.
“Stop acting like you don’t like it when I butter you up, Fiona.” Jared retorted.
The two friends began to bicker and I got lost, feeling like a third wheel between them. We walked down to the new location that Fiona and Jared thought would be better for the hidden training sessions we planned to have.
The training was to begin tomorrow and I wasn't sure I was ready.
Fiona finally thought of including me in the conversation. She asked, “What do you think about creating a group chat?”
I was confused until she added, “We can create a social media group chat, add every aspiring warrior, and get information across to everyone easily.”
“How were you communicating before now?” I asked even though it was obvious that they must have a special bond between them all.
Jared answered, “We have a special mind link. You should have been able to access that but you haven't.”
“We assumed it was because you haven't become an official member of this pack.” Fiona added to Jared's response.
“Which means we are creating this group, especially for me.” I stated.
They didn't have to respond for me to understand that the duo didn't want me to feel left out of the group.
However, Fiona said, “You deserve to be able to communicate with us all, Rose. you are our trainer and also my friend so yes, we are creating the group for you.”
“To be honest, we have created the group and everyone has been added except you.” Jared revealed, earning himself a smack from Fiona.
Fiona hissed, “Keep that detail from her, idiot.”
They both chuckled and I joined them as we arrived at the hidden field that we will be using for our training session. I prayed to the moon goddess that she would help me bring out the strength in this set of people because their failure had become my failure the moment I accepted to help them.
“This is really a better spot but are you certain no one would be skeptical about the location?” I asked after inspecting the not-so-big field that Jared and Fiona led me to.
The area was very close to the border of the Royal Pack which meant that if there was to be an attack when we train here, we would be the first line of defense or the first set of people to be slaughtered.
“I believe this is a good spot because I have seen how well the members work under pressure. Fear and determination will also birth fast improvement.” Jared Replied.
Fiona added with a smile, “And this place will keep us out of sight and hopefully we will be able to rock or capsize the ships of the other two ranks during the competition.”
“You mean, element of surprise?” I asked, quirking my eyebrows.
Fiona waved me off but I whispered, “You should have said that instead of talking rocks and ships.”
Jared laughed, making fun of Fiona with me. We inspected the area afterward and sat on some rocks, chatting and enjoying the sight of the moon. Fiona and Jared were easy to relate with and even though they asked me about myself, I did all I could to tell them nothing but the barest minimum.
I found myself relaxing as we conversed but I tensed up again when I caught sight of a figure in the dark. “Can you see that?”
I called the attention of Jared and Fiona as the figure drifted closer to us, basking in the darkness of the night. Jared and Fiona stop talking and focused on the approaching figure.
All of a sudden, Fiona blurted, “She is one of us, Rose.”
Since Fiona had a better nose than Jared and I, she was able to perceive the person in the dark and she announced, “She is Emily. The famous fashionista.”
Jared whispered, “I have always had a crush on her.”
While the two friends kept whispering, I wondered while Emily eventually showed herself. I asked myself why she would be walking alone along the border in the night but she didn't try to hide from us.
And Cali beamed within me, filling me with excitement.
Of course, I wasn't excited to see Emily but my wolf beast thought otherwise and Jared also beamed. Fiona was the only one that kept a straight face with me.
Emily on the other hand didn't. The moment she was two steps away from us, she exclaimed sweetly, “What are you guys doing here?”
Jared absentmindedly began to speak, “We had to find–”
“Shut the fuck up, Jared!” Fiona yelled at him and I perceived anger rolling off her.
Emily chuckled, “You don't have to be so secretive, Fiona. I am not interested in anything that isn't fashionable anyways– ahh, Rose! Look at you.” Emily easily diverted her statement.
Before I knew it, she pulled me to my feet and pulled me into a bone-crushing hug.
I whimpered, “I can’t breathe, Emily.”
“You should have contacted me, Girl. I heard you got a phone.” Emily uttered. She called my cell phone and imputed her number.
Emily dialed her number on my cell phone and didn't return my cell phone until her phone started to ring with my number flashing on the screen.
“I would have stayed to chat with you all but I have to go now. Talk to you later, Rose.” Emily announced after getting my number without my permission. “See you around, Jared.”
She left without saying a word to Fiona and Fiona scoffed, “You should add a passcode to your phone to keep intruders out.”
Clearly, Fiona and Emily weren't cool and After Emily left, the atmosphere changed, forcing us to depart. I returned to the mansion with questions about Emily and just as I entered the mansion, I received a text from Emily, asking me to save her number.
Skeptically, I did that and forced myself to relax with the hope that Alpha King Josh was back home…
However, he wasn't back and I didn't set my eyes on him until the next day.
