Chapter 54 - The Tycoon Alpha's Temptation

ALPHA KING JOSH’S POV

If tired was a person, that person would be me.

I trudge into my mansion like a walking log of wood. It has been a long day and I haven't slept well since… I couldn't remember. At least not right now.

“I have to rest, My King…” Adam mumbled, walking off towards his room while I nodded.

We both needed the rest. After discussing with the spies for hours yesterday, Adam and I had to return to the office to carry out an impromptu secret survey. I knew not to trust everyone and I usually do this from time to time…

“And you thought yesterday was the best time.” Max snarled at me.

My wolf beast has been furious about my sudden decision to visit the office at such an hour especially when I knew that I had a woman waiting for my return. In my defense, I didn't know it would take so much time.

I didn't expect to see some set of werewolves snooping around my industry. Adam and I had to chase after the suspicious werewolves. We managed to capture two of them and stayed up all night, questioning them.

“You can’t stay mad at me forever, Max. I will apologize to Rose and from what Eric said to me earlier, she seems to be just fine without me.” I responded gruffly.

Recalling that made me groan. I was dying to get the truth out of the captured men so I could see Rose but she seemed to be having fun with the male aspiring warrior that she had been meeting. Eric told me she went out with him yesterday instead of waiting for me.

She was also sighted with him today as well.

Rose didn't care. I was the one that yearn for her and she—

A scream broke out just as I put my legs on the stairs. The loudness of the scream pierced my ears and my heart sank when my brain registered that the scream was coming from no other person but Rose.

My legs jerked into action even though they had been like a log of inactive wood earlier. I sprinted to get to her just as another scream resonated through the house. Thousands of thoughts and emotions flowed through me and my mind flipped a million and three times before I got to her door.

“Rose!” I raised my voice, hoping it would get her attention as she screamed again.

But she didn't notice me.

Her back was turned to me and her frame shook visibly, spiking too many emotions within me. I completely forgot about the issues I had at hand. I forgot the assignments I had assigned to the spies I hired.

My mind flew from the fact that there were some loose ends that I needed to tie. That there was some truth that are hidden from me still despite spending all night and day with the suspicious werewolves.

Immediately, my life stopped revolving around everything but Rose.

She was at the center and my legs closed the distance between us as if they had suddenly grown a mind of their own.

What the fuck was going on?

Why would she scream like this?

From the sound of it, she didn't scream out of excitement. She could have screamed because she perceived my arrival but what I heard was more on the side of the alarming kind of scream.

Rose screamed out of terror…

My wolf beast lost control within me just like my heart and mind did…

All of me appeared to be responding to her.

“Rose…” I stood behind her and my hand shot out to grab her trembling shoulders.

Still, she didn't react to me. She took steps backward which caused her back to press into my chest. My hand quickly wrapped around her but she jolted. Rose moved swiftly, pushing me away and freeing herself.

“Calm down!” I barked.

But that didn't seem to help the situation.

She was driving me nuts.

All my attention was on her. I didn't realize that the light in her room was out until my eyes squinted to see the dripping liquid on her hands.

Could that be?...

My eyes widened. There was no way that was

“Blood.” Max completed my statement, confirming that the liquid dripping from Rose’s fingers was exactly what I thought it was.

My senses began to function, perceiving other things asides from Rose’s scent and the smell of her heartbreaking fear. I found myself rushing towards the switches on the wall to put the light in her room on.

The light traveled fast and I found myself gasping when I saw the one thing Rose’s eyes were on.

Her body kept shaking while I became confused. I thought Rose had cut herself accidentally at first which made my heart race but that wasn't the case.

Max stated, “The blood isn't her’s.”

Smelled similar but that wasn't Rose’s blood.

The detached human part on the floor of her room was the source of the blood… and Rose’s eyes remained on that part even though I had been in the room with her. I watched her crying and shaking her head sorrowfully.

I didn't know what to do.

Or what do I do when I come back home tired but heard the woman I want screaming like she was in danger? What do I do when I found a neatly cut-off hand right there in her room?

Yes, there was a bleeding hand in Rose’s room.

The hand has been cut off from the shoulder down to the fingers and it wasn't her hand… obviously.

I would have flipped the world upside down if that was Rose’s hand lying on the floor.

“What the fuck is going on here?” I found myself asking that question loud enough to get Rose to notice me.

She has to take her eyes off the bleeding hand in front of us. She has to see me. She has to feel me.

And she finally did.

Her eyes fluttered to mine and I saw the tears glinting in her eyes. Her lips quivered which in turn made my heart ache.

“Josh…” Rose muttered just as her legs gave out. She fell to the ground without taking her eyes off mine.

Her sadness was my to bear as well…

“Rose…” I breathed and strolled toward her with every intention to comfort her and find out the truth about the situation. “Talk to me, Rose…”

I urged her to speak as I hugged her but she simply cried in my arms. She could barely say a word but she managed to say two that made me grind my teeth in anger.

It was barely a whisper but I heard her loud and clear… “Alpha Richard.”
