Chapter 54

She was on the dance floor just dancing her drunk ass away. I stood there in amusement and on standby in case she fell. But she doesn’t. I sipped on my beer and just thought to myself. This was my mate and we’d be in this same position, but why wasn’t Alizac here? She is acting out and the last thing she needed was to be alone in her downfall. She came stumbling over and I quickly stood up to help her sit down.

“Where is Alizac?”

I know it was nosy, but I was curious if something happened. She stared at me, and her eyes started to water.

“He has a reputation to uphold so he never comes. I am an embarrassment don’t you know?”

That idiot is being a douchebag again. I watched as she came undone and the inner wolf in me had to make her feel just a little bit better. I grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug and with that she was sobbing hard. I let the mate bond take over in the process of her healing. I knew it was time to go. I grabbed my jacket and put it around her before picking her drunk ass up in my arms. She stayed there crying while I walked us back. When I got there Alizac was already outside.

“She’s drunk again, isn’t she?”

He seemed annoyed but she had pushed her legs down so that she was standing before looking at him in distaste. She stumbled over but her arms landed on him. He took a step back.

“I can’t keep doing this, Ry. I tried to sympathize and be there for you but you’re just self-destructing. Nothing I do seems to help, and you won’t talk to me. Maybe we need a break while you figure things out. I know that makes me an ass, but I have a right to feel neglected.”

She stood there in disbelief that he’d say something like that. He was also right too.

“So, you’re dumping me for grieving the babies that I lost? Gosh, you are the exact same person you’ve always been. What if these were your kids? Would you treat me the same? Probably not, but you know what. I don’t need you. I DON’T NEED FUCKING ANYONE! Not you or any other selfish wolf out here.”

He stood there and just ran his hands through his hair. For the first time, I understood why he was walking away. She was stable enough to maintain a relationship. It’s been seven weeks since the passing of her kids and she wasn’t any closer to being a bit better.

“Damn its Ryleigh I love you, but you need help. You refuse any. You have blocked everyone out and just keep drowning yourself in alcohol instead of healing. I can’t force you to get help, but I won’t stand here watching you destroy yourself.”

She walked past him shoving his arm before walking up the steps. But she slipped and fell.

“I will get her to her room, she can barely walk.”

I walked over and lifted her, but she tried to walk it off. I lifted her into my arms again and walked in and upstairs to her room. I placed her on the bed, and she just sat up and started stripping her clothes off.

“He’s right, I know. I may be drunk but I am not dumb.”

She walked to the closet and slipped some clothes on and retreated to the desk in her room. She opened the draw and pulled out a bottle. Damn, she had a problem.

“I know what I am doing is wrong, but when I am sober, all I feel is pain.’

Ryleigh pulled two glasses out and poured them halfway before walking to me and handing me a glass. I was already feeling drunk as is but if I can be a friend right now then I will. She had a wipe in her hand that she used to take the makeup off her face and slowly sipped on the drink.

“I don’t know how to get better, so I drink to feel numb.”

I sat next to her just letting her vent out loud and just kept drinking. She filled my cup each time and I just let it be while she finally talked about how she felt. Alizac was never there to hear her vent. But venting turned into a conversation and the conversation turned into her laughing. She was actually laughing.

“Thank you for being here,” she said.

I stood up ready to leave but I was also very drunk to the point things were spinning and I stopped listening a long time ago. The joys of alcohol.

“Just stay, I don’t think you should be walking downstairs this way.”

I didn’t even realize she had clear eyes and relaxed. I was the really drunk one now. She grabbed my arm and laid me down in the bed and climbed in next to me after turning the lamp off. The room was spinning that I didn’t realize she had laid her head on my chest making my wolf purr.

“I can’t sleep with you on me like that. I am having really dirty thoughts,” I said.

She lifted her head up and just stared at me but when she leaned her head closer and softly kissed my lips. The liquid courage just made it all intensify. We were both drunk and maybe it wasn’t the best decision, but my brain just couldn’t let go. I wanted her. I pulled her over to me and my member was now fully erected. I was waiting to see if she would object but she took control. She sat up and took her shirt off and it was that moment I realized she didn’t have a bra underneath. But after that everything went into a complete blur.
