Chapter 55

I woke up and the pounding in my head confirmed a hangover. When my eyes adjusted, I realized I wasn’t in my room, and I freaked out. I sat up and jumped to see Ryleigh with two cups of coffee sitting on the chair. She looked embarrassed but the fact I was naked confirms we had sex last night plastered.

“Hi,” she said.

She handed me the cup and sat back down. She was searching for something, and I don’t know what. I took a drink and placed it on the nightstand. I know it should be considered a mistake because I don’t remember it, but I was with my mate and that made me excited. I laid back because the room was spinning from the alcohol binge last night.

“You’re overthinking again. Come here.”

She sat her cup down and walked over to the bed and I pulled her on top of me and reached to bring her into a hug.

“I don’t regret anything, but I am sick to my stomach from the amount of liquor we consumed. I should be dead.”

Her head was against my neck, and she just laughed it up. We stayed in this position for a while until she moved to my side to fall asleep again. I had my mate in my arms again and I was overjoyed. What does this mean for us now? I woke up to see she had gotten showered and dressed normally. She leaned against the door and just smiled.

“So, I did a lot of thinking and last night you were a friend to me. Alizac breaking up with me and just how sad I was. I know I need to get help and that means quitting drinking and finding something else to distract me. Thank you again for being there, even though I didn’t deserve it.”

I stood up and walked over to her and just hugged her. She had a realization, and I couldn’t be prouder.

“Hey, can you meet me in my office and grab Ryleigh. We need to talk about something.”

I got a mind-link from Alizac, and it seemed serious. So, we waited a few minutes before making our way to his office. When we got in there all Alpha’s were there including Zane. Zane doesn’t know Ryleigh is back and she didn’t want him to know because he had a family he needed to worry about now. So, to his surprise when she walked in just fine.

“Great you made it. So, we have the leader and his goons locked up in holding and I want to take a vote on what to do? We either kill them and continue our life or we use them in order to take control of the human world. It’ll be nice if humans were no longer an issue. As well as Zeus is coming down and should be here to take Hades since he is a God’s problem.”

Everyone was throwing around ideas about what we should do, but only one idea seemed out of the ordinary.

“Why don’t we put an end to the feud?”

The entire room went quiet, and all eyes reverted to Ryleigh who spoke up.

“Listen, we have been at war for thousands of years because humans fear us. They don’t realize we aren’t just wolves but we’re human too. We keep these humans here and show them the way of our kind and change their minds. If we go in and take over their human world then we are no better than they are. Let’s rise above and bring peace back where we can cross worlds and we are no longer a threat. I don’t know about you, but I am tired of sleeping with one eye open and getting an arrow in my shoulder each time I step out.”

That was probably the best suggestion anyone could make but not everyone is on board with it. The door opened up and there was Zeus.

“Ryleigh, that is a ridiculous idea. There is no way we could change their minds in a few days compared to years of feuding. We are going with the taking-over plan. We are going to roam freely and take their weapons and burn their poison.”

Zeus came in with a few other gods “I would like to speak with the king and Ryleigh,” he said.

Everyone started to leave, but I refused to leave now. I knew she was uncomfortable.

RYLEIGH:

“I should have you sentenced to death for killing my son!”

Zeus was yelling at me. Now I was pissed. Who does he think he is? He was inches from Alizac’s face, but he wasn’t standing his ground.

“Your son tried to kill me multiple times. He laid his hands on me and held me captive! Not to mention beat me while I was carrying twins. So, you wanna kill me for doing what's wrong then you can take your honor and shove it up your ass!”

“This is unacceptable. I am a God. You watch how you speak to me.”

He walked over now facing me, but I kept my eye contact with him. He was angry not that his son was dead but angry that there was someone that could take him. Leaving the underworld unprotected.

“I don’t give a rat's ass who you are. You by far are the worst type of leader to approve of this behavior. God or no god I don’t respect you. Not to mention I am a demi-god too so I can say what I please. You’ve failed me since I was born by allowing your abusive asshole of a son to get away with everything he wanted. You should be ashamed of yourself!”

Alizac had walked over and placed himself between us.

“Zeus, she is right. She did it out of self-defense. I will defend her decision so take your son and leave.” His defense surprised me.
