Chapter 696 You Wish!
Chapter 696 You Wish!
After listening, Jessica felt that Kaia had a point and quickly agreed: "I understand what you mean. As parents, we're always thinking about our kids. We'll do everything we can to give them the best. For the wedding gift, we've already discussed it - we'll give them a car plus four hundred thousand dollars. That's the most we can manage."
Wendy was surprised. She had never talked about this with her mom before and assumed the wedding gift would just be ordinary items. Given the huge wealth gap between her family and Caspian's, she thought a simple gift wouldn't look bad. She never expected her mom would give four hundred thousand dollars.
"Mrs. Lewis, I have my own money. You don't need to give so much. Keep the money for yourself and Mr. Lewis," Caspian said.
Patrick said, "Caspian, we have our pensions, we have enough money. As long as you and Wendy are happy together and don't make us worry, that's the best thing."
James said, "If Caspian ever does anything to hurt Wendy, I'll be the first to object. I'll teach him a lesson!"
Caspian quickly chimed in: "Right, Mr. Lewis, if I ever do anything terrible, like my dad said, you can all break my legs together!"
Kaia and Jessica looked at the three men acting all serious and smiled at each other.
"If you have any other requests, just say so. If we can do it, we definitely will," Kaia said.
Jessica said, "We're reasonable people. Let's just arrange the wedding normally. Whatever others have, we should have too. That's all."
"Yes, yes! We'll even have things others don't have, and give these two kids an unforgettable wedding!" Kaia readily agreed.
"Oh, right, about the kids changing how they address us - should we give the money at the wedding or now? We're fine with either," Kaia asked.
Jessica glanced at Patrick and said, "I think it's supposed to be at the wedding, right? Let's do it at the wedding then."
"Okay, at the wedding."
After finishing the wedding discussion, the four parents casually chatted about other things. Caspian then took Wendy outside.
"Feel better now?" Wendy asked him leisurely under the sun umbrella.
Caspian sat in his chair with his legs casually propped on the table, smiling: "Your mom really saved face. Everyone's happy!"
Wendy sipped her juice and said proudly, "Of course. Not liking you is one thing, but my mom sees the big picture!"
"Honey, I can't wait anymore. I wish we could get married tomorrow!" Caspian said with his eyes half-closed, looking pleased.
Wendy huffed playfully, "In your dreams!"
'You haven't even proposed yet, don't you know?' she thought to herself.
"Honey, aren't you in a hurry?" Caspian asked curiously.
Wendy bit her straw without speaking, giving him a look that said "figure it out yourself."
That afternoon, both families went to a hotel. Caspian had booked a private room at a five-star hotel with a comfortable and elegant atmosphere. During the meal, both families chatted and laughed, getting along wonderfully.
In the evening, the six of them came out of the hotel. Patrick and James were a bit tipsy, standing by the car holding hands and talking endlessly.
Kaia and Jessica stood nearby chatting. They were no longer awkward with each other and were as warm as family.
Wendy nestled in Caspian's arms, watching the four parents laughing and talking. She nudged him with her elbow and said, "Honey, do other parents act like this when they meet? Like they're already family."
"Not always. Some argue!" Caspian said. "I have friends who've experienced that."
"That's awful. Did they still get married?"
"They did. After the wedding, the parents would still fight when they met," Caspian said. "That's why I'm so grateful to your mom for putting aside her opinion of me and meeting my parents."
Wendy clicked her tongue, "If they fight like that, it's better they don't meet."
After chatting, Caspian had Marcus drive Jessica and Patrick home.
Jessica whispered to Wendy, "Wendy, I've agreed to you two being together. Come home to live."
Wendy hesitated, "Mom, Caspian and I are doing fine where we are."
Caspian was talking to Patrick nearby, but his ears were sharp. Hearing their conversation, he immediately walked over, put his arm around Wendy, and said to Jessica: "Mom, don't worry about Wendy staying at my place. We have a housekeeper who cooks. If she goes back, you'll have to work hard. Just let her stay with me."
"How are your ears so sharp? The moment you hear me asking Wendy to come home, you rush over," Jessica said with a stern face. "I haven't given you the money yet. Don't call me that so eagerly."
"I'm practicing in advance, so when I call you mom later, it'll sound more natural."
"So shameless!"
Wendy giggled, "Mom, this isn't your first day knowing him. You know how thick-skinned he is. Mom, I won't go back. I've become picky now. I might not even want to eat your simple cooking anymore."
"Alright then. Since someone's taking care of you, it does save me trouble. Stay there. Call me if anything comes up."
"Mom, don't worry. We'll video chat with you every two days from now on," Caspian said cheerfully to Jessica, now feeling confident.
"You don't need to be on camera. I just want to see Wendy," Jessica said through gritted teeth, then smiled and walked toward Kaia. "We'll be going now."
Marcus drove Jessica and Patrick home.
Caspian said to his parents, "Dad, Mom, you should head back too. Wendy and I will take a cab home."
"Mrs. Wade, when we have time, Caspian and I will come visit you."
"Good girl. You two focus on the wedding first. Call me if you need anything," Kaia said to Caspian. "Take good care of Wendy. Don't make her angry!"
"I know. She's my wife. I'm not stupid enough to make her angry," Caspian said, helping Kaia into the car.
Wendy stood by the car door, waving: "Goodbye, Mr. Wade, Mrs. Wade."
It was still early. Caspian put his arm around Wendy's shoulder and asked, "Honey, want to go somewhere?"
"I don't know where to go. Let's just walk around."
"If there's nowhere to go, let's visit Alexander. We don't have anything else to do anyway."
"Sure, I can chat with Lillian."
They decided to go right away. Caspian called Alexander in the car and learned they were home, saying they'd arrive soon.
Alexander hung up, and Lillian asked, "Was that Caspian?"
"He and Wendy are coming over in a bit."
"Really?" Lillian said happily. "Perfect, I have something to ask her."
Before long, Caspian and Wendy arrived.
"Why are you so free today?" Lillian asked.
Caspian put his arm around Wendy and said proudly, "Just letting you know - Wendy and I have set our wedding date for July 28th."
