CHAPTER 59

"I can take care of myself Alejandro I don't need you to do that.What I want you cannot give and I won't ask for what you can't give."

Another reason why he's so reluctant to give her what she wants because she doesn't need him probably never did,she can take care of herself and their kids without his help.Abigail was a strong woman who needed no one's help for anything she can leave him at any time if she wanted and he wasn't ready to go through it all over again."I'm glad we both know where we stand.Our sexual chemistry is enough to make this marriage work."

"I suppose you right."She tried hard to keep the hurt out of her voice but failed and she didn't care if he heard it because she doesn't want all these material stuff things that meant nothing and had no value she only wanted two things from him,firstly his heart and secondly his love.

"Are you ready to move?"

"Yes,Ally is so excited she can't wait to paint her room."

"We can do that before we move in."He suggested.

"She'd love that."Ally was dressed up and ready to leave for the party when they arrived,she and Alejandro will drop her off."You look beautiful Ally."

"Your mother is right princess you do look beautiful.Who did your hair."

"Aunt Andrea did and grandma helped me to choose my dress,my favorite color purple."

"I'm sorry I wasn't here to help you get ready."Abby kissed her.

"It's okay mommy,I know you and daddy need some time alone I'm not a baby anymore I understand."

"When did you grew up to be such a clever girl."Abby touched her two pigtails.

"I was born smart,just like daddy."Abby smiled.

"You right princess."Alejandro agreed.

"Where's your grandma?"Abby asked.

"With grandpa.Will he be okay."

"Of course he will sweetie.Your grandpa is a strong man."

"I hope he gets well soon so I can also spend time with him too."Abby touched her cheek,she glanced at Alejandro his face was blank his eyes were empty, haunted,he was still carrying that guilt around for what happened to his father all because of her.Andrea came over to them from the kitchen.

"Thank you Andrea."Abby said.

"Don't mention it.I'm happy to help.Did you guys have a good time."

"We did."Abby answered.

"I can tell from that smile.Arturo and your mother is upstairs with the doctor."

"What happened?"Alejandro asked concerned.

"Your dad moved last night and it's all thanks to Ally."

"What do you mean?"Abby asked."What did Ally do."

"I went to read grandpa one of my bedtime stories and he touched my face." Ally answered."He even called me by my name."Alejandro rushed upstairs as if he's life depended on it."What's wrong with daddy."

"Nothing sweetie.Stay here with aunt Andrea okay we'll be right back."Ally nodded.

"Oh Alejandro."Mariana said,when she saw her son."Your father moved after so long he moved."He can see the hope in his mother's eyes something he hasn't seen in a long time."He even spoke,our prayers have been answered."All sort of emotions were running through him,his father was getting well and no amount of words could describe his feelings,he watched as the doctor examine his father's arm he can feel Abby next to him.

"Why didn't mother call last night,I would've come home."

"You and Abigail needed some time alone I might be old but I'm not dumb I know what's happening around me."

"Doctor."Alejandro said."What does this new developments mean."

"We gonna need to run some tests and for that we'll need to admit your father and monitor him closely for the next few days.I can't give you a certain answer until we see what the results say but from what I've seen now there's hope."

"Vicenté."Mariana rushed to her husband's side,Abby could hear her voice was thick with tears.

"Fine.When will we need to bring him."

"Today,the sooner we start the better.He might need additional treatment."

"I'll take care of everything."He faced Abby.

"Don't worry I'll take Ally,you focus on your father."He and Arturo followed the doctor out Abby stayed with Mariana for a few moments before taking Ally to the party.She also met Amanda and asked if they can postpone their date night she wanted to be with Alejandro be by his side and support him through this challenging time.At home Andrea told her everyone has already left including Mariana Abby didn't know if she should go or not in the end she ended up going.Mariana and Arturo were in the family waiting area Alejandro was no where to be seen."Is everything alright?"

"The doctor's are hopeful so that gives us hope."Mariana answered."Our little Alejandra gave us hope,he said her name just as I entered the room."

"But how did she get in there,her room is a bit far."

"I didn't ask her I was so overwhelmed with happiness that he spoke that I hardly thought to question her.But it doesn't matter her being there was a godsend,a miracle we've been waiting for.Faith made her go into that room and read her grandfather a story."

"Mother is right maybe Alejandra being in there was a blessing."Arturo said. "It's been so long since father moved or spoke but only one encounter with his granddaughter changed that."

Abby lifted her head and saw Alejandro strolling into the room she stood up and went to him."How are you holding up?""You shouldn't have come Abigail." His remark stung,she was here to support him give him a shoulder to lean on and all he can say was she shouldn't have come.

"Good thing I did."Abby said,he held her gaze for several moments then broke contact to look at his mother.

"I've called one of the best specialist in New York to come and work on father's case we'll leave no stone unturned to make sure he gets well and receives the best medical care and treatment."He touched his mother's hands.

"You such a dedicated son Alejandro your father would be grateful when he hears you never gave up in making sure he gets the best care,flying in specialist from all over to world.Thank you son."

"It's my job to look after this family."

Mariana gently touched her son's cheek."You need to let go of this guilt son whatever happened with your father isn't your fault,you did your duty as a son over the years.Now it's time to move on."

Arturo pulled Abby aside."I see a change in brother and in you too."

"What kind of change?"

"You love each other,it's clear as daylight or are you still in denial."

"I'm not in denial Arturo,I accept my feelings I love him but Alejandro doesn't share my feelings he's made that very clear countless of times.I've hurt him and he isn't ready to forgive me."

"For a man that doesn't love you he sure as hell isn't hiding his love.Have you seen how he glances at you,how possessive and protective he's over you."

"I haven't notice and I won't hold my breath."

"Love really is something else,isn't it.Give him time,you'll notice soon enough."

Abby doubts but there was no point in saying as much,they stayed until the doctor came and said they don't have to stay because the tests might take a while before it will get send to the lab."Can I get you anything?"Abby asked Mariana at home.

"No dear,I'll be up in my room if anyone looks for me."Abby watched as Mariana walked up the stairs,Abby can understand she needed time alone after all these years her husband spoke and moved it was alot to take in especially if you haven't been given hope over the years.Andrea was out on the patio feeding Bella Abby went to her.

"How did it go."

Abby sat down."The doctor will only inform us tomorrow they still busy conducting tests."

"Did Alejandro and Arturo stay back."

Abby shook her head."No,they went to the office."

"Must be hard for them especially Alejandro."Abby can imagine.

"Hopefully we'll receive good news tomorrow."

"Hopefully.Did everything work out yesterday."

Abby took Bella from her mother."Yes.Although I wish I had a book on how to understand him better,I'm always on edge with Alejandro expect the unexpected."

Andrea smiled."Everything always works out in the end."

"You and Arturo are so optimistic,I wish I had your faith when it comes to Alejandro."

"Love conquers all."

"For some but not for me.How did you and Arturo meet."

"We met not long after you broke up with Alejandro,our company where I was a marketing director had a business function at work it was instant chemistry.

"We clicked,at the end of the evening he asked me out and I agreed everything unfolded from there."
