Chapter 80 Chapter 80

Chapter 80 Chapter 80
“We should not have let him go,” Alpha Blake said. “We should have captured him and interrogated him to know more.”
“Maybe we should have. But then would it have changed the outcome of the impending war?... I doubt it,” Hank said.
We were still at the barricade. Nobody was letting their guards down just yet. I wondered if he knew I was the Lycan king. He had stared at me for a moment when he was addressing us.
“A thousand fucking Lycans. We will need all the help we can get,” my father said.
My mind immediately went to Egypt. I knew who to call, but I had to discuss it with my father and Hank first.
‘Hey, how are you feeling about this?’ Elisa asked.
‘Not the first time someone’s wanted me dead.’
She rested her head on my shoulder.
‘We are going to begin training mates whose partners have abilities. The red moon is in less than two weeks. At least they were generous enough to give us that long,’ Alpha Blake said.
‘They were not generous, Blake. Lycans are extremely powerful during the red moon. They want to totally wipe us out. That was why they picked the day of the red moon,’ Hank said.
‘What the fuck are we going to do?’ one of the Alphas with us asked.
‘Like Alfred said, we are going to need all the help we can get. At this point, we need the help of other supernaturals as well. I need to have a meeting with the council.’
‘If anything breathes around this place, you tell me immediately,’ my father said, facing the enforcers at the barricade.
Beta James and some of the Alphas remained while the rest drove back.
‘You will need to send people that can watch the void to see if anything else comes through,’ Hank said.
‘Toby is on it,’ my father replied.
The rest of the drive was quiet.
When we got back, Angy rushed to meet us. She hugged her dad before coming to where we were.
‘Hey guys, what happened?’
‘He came to deliver a message. We give them Drake or we go to war,’ Elisa said.
‘I say we go to war,’ Angy replied instantly.
‘I could not have said it better, cuz,’ Mark said.
‘Can you guys give me a minute? I have got to see my dad about something.’
‘Sure,’ Elisa said.
My father was already in his office with Hank.
‘Dad, I have some people I can call that can help.’
‘Then call them,’ he said immediately.
‘No, he should not,’ Hank cut in.
‘Why not?’ my father asked him.
‘He is talking about the rogues in Egypt.’
My father’s brows rose in alarm. ‘No way.’
‘Dad, they can help. You are the one that said we need all the help we can get.’
‘Not from rogues, Drake. Once the packs see the marks on them, chaos will erupt. This is not the time to have internal conflicts. A lot of people can’t stand rogues because some of their friends or family were killed by them.’
‘Will you please consider it? This is bigger than we think. And they are not just any rogues. They had no choice but to become rogues. Hank knows.’
‘Drake… they would not care. Rogues are the same to everyone no matter their backstory.’
My father sighed heavily and rubbed a hand over his face like the weight of the world had suddenly settled on his shoulders.
“You are asking me to bring rogues into pack territory, Drake. Do you even understand what that means?” he asked.
“I understand exactly what it means. But I also understand what a thousand Lycans means. I am one, remember?” I shot back.
‘Dad,’ I said quietly. ‘They are strong warriors. They can help us. We don’t have the luxury of pride anymore. The Lycans are coming here to wipe every single one of us out. Packs. Humans. Supernaturals. Everyone.’
‘Let me consider this and carefully bring it up with the other Alphas. Then we can proceed from there. But son, do not get your hopes up.’
Something had been bugging me ever since I saw that Lycan.
‘Do we have any idea where these Lycans have been all this while?’
‘No,’ Hank said. ‘Although I have told the witch councilwoman to help search through the archives. Once she finds something, I will let you know. For now, we need to start training our mate pairs. The Moon Goddess has blessed you all. And with this blessing comes an advantage that can change the tide of the war.’
We were drilled to the bone. Especially Elisa and I because of the part we had to play.
I had tried to get her alone, but I had been unable to. Elisa had not yet gotten her wolf. She believed she might never get her wolf. I believed she would. Something just needed to trigger her transformation. What that was, we had no idea.
We were finally learning ways Hank had discovered through old books on how to use our mates’ abilities.
‘Drake, you need to concentrate harder,’ Hank said.
‘I am fucking trying,’ I replied in frustration. This was the eighth time and I still was not getting it.
‘Elisa, open your mind again and try to use the mate link to find where he stands currently. Then link your mind with him. Once you feel the link, Drake, pull at the source of her power and strike down that fucking tree with lightning,’ he instructed.
I tried again and this time when I tapped into her source, I felt a violent rush of power surge through me. When I could not contain it anymore, I directed it at the tree Hank mentioned and it exploded with a loud boom.
Everyone bent down and covered their heads, trying to avoid the splinters flying everywhere.
Once everything settled, I looked at Hank and he had a massive grin on his face.
‘Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is how it’s done,’ he said proudly.
‘However, Elisa, try to limit the flow of power you channel to him. It seems your abilities are more powerful than I thought.’
We trained and trained until I was finally able to control the power Elisa carried.
Elisa had become a force to be reckoned with. Even her fighting was top tier. And the mate pairs were no joke either.
For the first time since the warning was delivered, I started to feel hopeful.
These Lycans had no idea what was coming for them.
