Chapter 99 Chapter 99
Kieran’s POV
Jess instantly started to complain wanting to know why everyone else was going in, when she had to stay outside. I could not exactly tell her the reason without ruining the surprise. I am lucky that she did not get too frustrated and go digging in her friends or my heads for that matter to figure out what was going on. So instead, I did the one thing I knew would stop her from overthinking. I leaned in and kissed her until I knew that the others would be ready and we could go in. I led her to the door and inside. I heard her gasp behind me, and I turned around to see her face lit up with delight. This was exactly the reaction I had been hoping for.
“Why? What is all of this?” she asked me in shock while still looking around at the room what was fully decked out in pink and orange, her two favourite colours.
“Well, I love you and I thought that you would like an engagement party, oh and I also thought you might like an engagement ring too” I told her as I dropped down to one knee and pulled out the box that John had given me earlier. I took her hand and slipped the ring on to finger, letting out a breath when I realised, I had gotten the right size and it fit perfectly.
“Oh, Kieran its perfect” she gasped “Oh my god I sound like an air head” she groaned
I scowled at her “Jess you are allowed to let yourself go and be a girl sometimes. I am glad that you like the ring now come on and let’s enjoy this party” I dragged her to the dance floor as I signalled to the band who started to play for us.
I managed to get her to dance with me for about three songs before she told me she had to eat. Of course she did, she had been moaning back at the warehouse that she was starving. I watched her walk over to the table with the food and silently walked after her. I watched her grab a jam sandwich before opening it and filling it with crisps. I looked at her in disgust, that’s one thing I did not understand. It was such an odd combination, and I voiced that opinion to her. I wish I didn’t as soon she was shoving her other sandwich at me and telling me I should not knock it until I have tried it. She was right, for all I know it might be amazing. I took a deep breath as I brought the sandwich to my mouth and took a small bite. Jess did not take her eyes off me as she watched me chew before swallowing. It was surprising not too bad. It was not something that I would choose to eat if I had a choice, but it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. We both filled up a plate each and went to sit on some seats by the wall. I watched her friends dancing with their men and smiled, this was exactly what I was hoping for when I asked John to help me organise this. I wrapped put my plate down beside me and wrapped my arm around her. Words could not express how much I loved her. Hayley appeared out of nowhere and handed Jess a drink. I groaned as I knew that Jess would not be leaving this party sober. I saw Jess’s family talking to John I was about to ask if Jess wanted to go mingle, but then William appeared with a gift for us. I was shocked as I had told John to tell everyone that we did not need any gifts. I did not say anything though and just watched as Jess opened the shiny paper to uncover a very fancy looking coffee machine. I knew that Jess and I would get plenty of use out of that since we were both huge coffee drinkers. Once William left Jess quickly got up with her drink and went to dance with her friends. I left her to it and went to stand with John and Jess’s family.
“The right you bought her is so beautiful” Alice gushed as she handed me a gift “I would give it to Jess, but she looks to be having fun”
I followed her eyes and saw that she now had a full glass again and was busy dirty dancing with her girls while the other guys left them to it and were getting food. Jess noticed me looking and quickly ran over to open the present that she saw in my hands.
“Thank you mummy” she grinned as she ripped open the paper.
This carried on all night, every time Jess noticed me with a present she would run over and open it before running back to dance with her friends again. I could not complain as she also danced with me a lot. As the night ended, I knew that Jess was getting very drunk.
“Hey Oscar and Nick” I called out “Can you guys help load all these gifts into the van for me?”
I had wanted to pick up my car and take it back tonight, but I had, had a few too many drinks myself. I was glad that we had John to drive us back in the van. I noticed Jess leaning against a wall talking to Christina, I figured she would be fine while I helped the guy’s finish loading up the van. But then I heard Jess raising her voice. I was not sure what was going on, but I did not want Jess getting angry at her engagement party. I quickly ran over to them to find out what was going on. As soon as I got to her, I asked if she was ok, she looked green and I wished I had now paid more attention to how much she was drinking. She turned to face me with a scowl on her face, but before she could say anything she lurched forward and vomited all over my shoes.
